@Swipe, just talked to our contact who was given the official offer sheet by Globe.

Iba yung ilalabas nila. The offers will be the same as the Smart offers but no SE P900 because out of stock na all suppliers.

Posted by swipe108
That's for corporate clients. You're right P900 is in tight supply. That's why there's a disclaimer that its subject to handset availability.

Posted by 619
aquagirl.... can you publish the list? thanks

Posted by runab0ut
I have no list... but info given to me is:

plan 800 - 3yrs locked.
6600, 6230 and 7200(?)

valid ID -- driver's license, passport or SSS id na parang cc, Cert of Employment, latest payslip and proof of billing.

I guess Smart's promo is still OK compared with that of Globe's Just like the one I got, a Nokia 7610. Plan 1200/month for only 2 years and not '3' , free 550 sms/free 200 mins. airtime. Initial cash outlay of only Php 2.7k. 1.5k for the handset and an advance of 1.2k for the 24th monthly subscription fee

Parang mas maganda nga yung promo ng Smart.

Posted by swipe108
I have to agree.

Posted by MFB
Globe had a good chance in making a better promotion.

if you try to understand Smart's action, they are really desperate in getting market share or just overstocked. In the heat of things, at least consumers now get better deals.

Posted by *Jojo*
@mfb - Yup! Looks like it's survival of the fittest for the local networks Just see what Sun Cellular will be up to I'm not sure if the company will still be around in a few years time I use to admire the promos Globe is having before, but I think they lag behind of Smart's innovative ideas in the past years Specially this recently concluded Celfone Promo Craze! 'Am very sure that a part II will definitely be in the offing

Posted by jomni1
Survival of the fittest? Fittest does not mean biggest. Smart may rack up more subcribers than Globe but becasue of the bigger discounts that Smart is giving out, Globe may have the better financial position in the end.

Hello! Just got a copy of Globe's explosive (?) promo. it looks like Smart's promo is a far cry from what Globe is offering... high-end fones are free at g-flex plan1800 while smart offers them at plan 1200. And no P900

This promo is until July 18, 2004 only.

Well Globe's 1,800 is for two years.
Smart's is for three years.
And i think both of them ran out of the SEP900 already.

Posted by 2sxy4u
Yes. For example, for a K700i, you have to shell out 10k for a G-flex Plan1200

You can have the P900 if it is under Corporate or Corporate Employees' only.

Posted by nephilim
I don't know about Smart getting desperate. Smart's subscriber base has surpassed Globes by a hell of a lot. I think its 8:4.5 in favor of Smart. In my opinion, Smarts marketing group has been more aggressive, with Globe becoming a bit complacent.

From what I hear, you may be able to haggle with Globe. I had a friend who applied for the Smart promo, but Globe said they'd match it. She had a plan 1200 and was offered a P900 to be delivered today. In the end, she went for the Smart. Apparently she asked for a P900 from Globe a day before Smart offered the promo. The Globe rep said sorry but they can't give a P900 so she said if Smart has that promo, maybe she should take it. For my friend, it was more payback time.

i would agree that smart is more aggressive than globe when it comes to marketing. bottom line is more subscriber base. Eat or Be Eaten alive in the corporate jungle.
Again globe's target is the corporate employees while smart's target is EVERYBODY.

Posted by MFB
It's not just marketing and market share. They're probably just unloading excess inventory or just in need of cash sales to reach projections. How can 1 week possibly make a difference.

Smart approached the big companies like Citibank. Offer's good on paper but where's the P900?
Sir, why don't u get an XDA II instead. Hmm... no.

Posted by *Jojo*
I called up Smart's hotline last night 8:34 pm/Thursday/July 15th - local time making some 'Qs' 'bout the unit I got At the end of the conversation I asked what units are left for the promo's disposal , and they are: Nokia 6100, 6610i and Voyager/Smart Amazing Phone II All the rest included in the promo were all taken already including the PDAs that in my mind would never get out of their stockroom, + they have hundreds or perhaps even thousands of SE P900 awaiting to be released
Globe's really left lagging behind . . .

Posted by jomni1
The XDA2 can do a lot more than the P900. Just compare the number and the type of apps available in Handango. You just have to accept that fact that it's Windows and a bit buggy.

But the P900 is a better phone.
While the XDA2 is a better PDA (don't expect much form it's phone functions).

Not to sound like a Smart loyalist, but they don't need to catch up with a desparate promo because they're already big enough.

From our contacts in Smart, this 1 week offer is like a trial promo, they want to check the market's response to a free phone offer. They didn't even advertise the whole thing, it was word of mouth. The Smart officers were kind of shocked that the promo was TOO successful.

I have the corporate offer sheet of Globe with me but I can't figure out how to post it online. Basically, it's the same as Smart, but the contract duration is longer. (if with Smart it's 24 months, with Globe it's 36 months)

Just check the fine print before committing.

Posted by jomni1
Well Smart has the guts to market phones and plans at really low prices. That's why they are very successful. While Globe is more conservative. I don't really care on who wins out. But if Smart turns into a monopoly, the quality of their service might suffer.

Posted by ex_crusader
monopoly will never exist here. on the other hand, CARTEL may...

Smart's promo isn't necessarily better than Globe's...

Smart’s promo requires you to maintain your plan for up to 3 years. Globe’s offer requires you to stay for only 2 years. For many of the handset offers, the total cost evens out: for instance, the XDA II is free at Smart’s P1,200/month plan with 36-month lock-in, and at Globe’s P1,800/month plan with 24-month lock-in. For both, the total is P43,200 – but with a shorter lock-in period for Globe.

Further, as those already on the Globe network would know, Globe’s offer is about more than just getting a free handset, but also access to Globe’s award-winning services, such as Text Back Mo, Libre Ko; Call and Text Collect; Share-a-Load, and future world-class innovations; assurance of clear connections during calls; membership in exclusive clubs such as Globe Girlfriends and GenTxt; and access to MyGlobe’s content.

There’s no reason to switch to Smart, because Globe is giving you not only a free phone, but a slew of other great services from the leading postpaid plan provider!

sorry but smart has a much better network than globe. iwas on globe from 1996 and finally killed my line early this year. have been on addict since it launched and have to say that globe's service is 2nd rate compared to smart. globe users will just never know it until they try it.

sorry but that's the reality of it.

Smart - no voice calls while roaming, only text.

Ok lang yan kung ang mga contacts mo ay puro family members and barkada. Kaso lang, paano na kung kailangan na tumawag ka sa isang opisina? I-text mo na lang ba ang mga messages mo sa managers or VP ng isang multi-national corporation?

Posted by bobstarsg
hey guys kala ko ba tungkol sa Globe Promo ang forum n2 eh mukhang battle zone na 'to ng two networks ah! out of the topic na. Basta kung saan kayo masaya dun kayo para lahat masaya okey. Yung mga taga Smart why not post a new forum for your promo. Ako Globe & Esato 4ever period.

Posted by 2sxy4u
@bobstarsg: There's a topic on the smart promo already started by jojo51069.

IMHO, there will definitely be more promos by the cell networks in the near future. With the new and soon-to-be-released new cellphone models (most brands), i believe new strategies will emerge to sell these phones. The latest promos are probably means to unload old stock to make room for the new phones....

I'm staying with Globe. Been a subscriber since 96. My family members (4 out of 6) have transfered to Smart 2 years ago. Now they want to go back to where they started. Why? Smart's Customer service. What do you expect from a PLDT company? Good luck to those blinded by a silly promo. Hope you have the patience with after sales customer support. Globe, hope you start giving options to non platinum loyal subscribers. It helps to keep what you have. Unlimited minutes on weekends? 2mb free allocation on gprs?:-)

@julia_ph - I quite don't agree with your last post lad The plan I got from Smart is as follows:

Handset : Nokia 7610
Plan : Php 1.2K month/ "2" years!
Initial Cash Outlay : Php 2.7K, Php 1.5K for the handset, Php 1.2K advance payment for your monthly subscription (24th month)

Many are getting confused with Smart's promo As I look at their brochure, I browsed at it almost 5x to see where I can avail the cheapest deal Actually my original plan is to get the SE K700i, where it also has the same olan with that of Nokia 7610, minus the initial cash outlay of Php 1.5K for the handset, but the stocks run-out on it's 2nd day of the promo
Majority of the known handsets listed under plan 800/1200/1800 etc, which has a minimum subscription plan of '3 years' are as follows:

1. Nokia 6600
2. Nokia 7200
3. Nokia 6230
4. SE P900
5. PDAs (almost majority in general)

About your preference in choosing your local network provider, I guess this has been discussed since time immemorial That will just depend on the one who uses the fone My first choice back in '95 was Smart (2 years), then I moved to Globe (6 years) and now I'm back with Smart (2yrs. - ?), because of the plan What I only liked with that of Globe is their GPRS features, low download rates + in their traffic image update, one location (EDSA-Ayala) is for FREE! Though I haven't browsed Smart's in whole !

i'm currently a sun subscriber, (FYI: my very first network was globe, 1999, then switched to smart and i liked it since then) but after the contract, i'd switch to smart. i dont see any problems with the aftersales of smart.

pls dont ask me why i subscribe to sun if i liked smart's services... (we've also been loyal to digitel)

not even for corporate employees it seems. where i work, an e-mail about globe's promo was initially circulated along w/ a list of phones including a p900. but when a later e-mail "corrected" this and gave a much shorter list of phones (no p900). true enough, when the globe reps came, di raw kasali p900.

Posted by runab0ut
nde na nga raw "for all" eh... more on corporate employee applications lang. bummer.

I went to SM Southmall last Sunday. I saw the ongoing promo of Globe, considering the space it's Business Center occupies in the said mall to that of Smart's, it's just a third in land area There are a few people queueing to purchase planned fone models but it did not reach and surpass the exterior demarcation line of the establishment Meaning, the promo was not that succeessful 'compared' to Smart's As I have discussed some pertinent matters with that of Smart's sales personnel, they are very sure that a 'sequel promo' will be in the offing, when just keep your ears open mates , it may not be published in the dailies - again Hear ye hear ye . . .

Posted by Aquagirl
If they have a sequel promo and offer the P900 this time I would just DIE! Sana wag na lang i-offer para di sumakit loob ng mga di naka kuha ng P900!

Posted by *Jojo*
@aquagirl - Who knows they will be offering the latest SE P910 and even the S700 next time around . . . . maybe before Christmas I also plan of getting me a P900 which eventually did not materialize, due to lack of supply . But honestly speaking, I am very much contended with the Nokia 7610 that I just got under contract . . . Just keep those ears open people

Posted by jomni1
For those who did not get the P900, the P910 is just around the corner. Then you can boast to the current P900 owners that you have a better screen and support for 1GB memory stick duos.

Feedback from the people who applied for Smart:
A week already passed and still not confirmation. Since so much people went for the promo, not all will get their applications approved. The people who applied for Globe had a better chance.

This is just great... my GF has a slim chances to get her phone!

Posted by Aquagirl
Globe people might have a better chance but their plans / promo offer is not as sulit as the Smart one. Besides, for me, Smart service and coverage is really better so even if Globe came out first, I would have waited for the Smart offer.

Anyway, here's praying that they don't reject us! How cruel! Naturally, they'll reject us AFTER the Globe promo has expired so that we would have no choice. I know of some people who applied for both Smart and Globe to double their chances, whoever replies first that's where she's going to sign up with.

Posted by *Jojo*
About that queueing-up issue to get your documents approved , I guess it will just all depend on the kind of pertinent papers you have submitted with the local network I myself could not totally believe it that I got my unit in 4.5 hours - flat ! As long as you have a valid Driver's License, either a Mastercard or a VISA credit card, Billing statements either, PLDT or Meralco, and the most 'crucial' of them all, a Bank Statement/Passbook (the bigger the amount the better, they are just so assuring) Those were the only docs my Dad has submitted (my card was not accepted, so I use his ), in a jiffy, we are in! Some people even looked at us when we left the building, maybe imagining how we've done it so quick, while they are in line, almost half-day Also, we've applied for the credit-card 'push' - an automatic debit (monthly subscription) from your account - monthly!
So, we'll just be hearing for Smart's next move - mates

Posted by runab0ut
Well, she has her own CC, ITR and all the documents needed for the application on that Addict booth on its 2nd-3rd floor day at Shangri-la...

meh! it all got filed as "TBA"

On the brighter side, the 'last' SMART promo... i did get the same service... within 30mins... i got my unit and plan and off we go. Napuruhan lang siguro ngayon ang SMART.

Update! Smart called me na! Unfortunately I wasn't able to receive their call but at least it's reassuring that they're calling up the applicants na.
