This is the model of Haier that is going to hit the market in Greece very shortly.

It is the first approach from Haier into the market. Not sure if it is globally.

Here are some photos.

I dont have any specs for it. But I'll try to find some official specs from the representative of Haier.

looks very low end to me, like z200...

I thought I recognised the name, these are the same people that made these rather cool looking phones in the "Smallest phone in the world?" thread

can't say I go much for this new one though

Actually Haier has made the Pen style mobiles as well. I think I'll pay a visit to my friend this time and see if he has any more sample mobiles.

For the record Haier is based in China and has a massive factory that builds not only mobiles but air conditions, plasma tv's(which are called Hisence..have one at home) and many other products. Its a huge company that wants to enter to all kinds of market by delivering new products.

Have just bought one of those pen type phones sim free in silver for £101.

Needed something to replace my 1 month old P900 which has had to be sent back to the manufacturer due to software problems. Am apparently going to be without it for 4 months due to a massive backlog of returned p900's.

My Haier P5 pen phone arrived today. Gave it a 5 hour charge and then had a mess with it.
Its very basic but I guess it would make a good second phone while your main one needs repairs.

Screen is Lcd/monochrome with a very blue backlight
Phone has basic features such as SMS, Calender, Alarm and 3 games (Tetris, Shoot Balloon, Push Ball).
35 polymorphic ringtones
predictive text input
profiles
Voice recorder

Menu section is similar to Nokia (eg 8310 or later) with animated pictures
Battery is non removable and has an internal antenna. Theres a removable slider on the right side of the phone where you put a small/modern GSM type sim card in.
Charger/interface jack is on the left side near the bottom.

Overall feel is very good and sturdy. I bought the silver version which has a very smooth feel to the housing but does not slip in your hand.

Accessories include a pocket/belt clip, in line hands free, 3 pin travel charger and a car charger all packed into a really nice black presenataion box.

There are 2 things which I have found on the phone which i cant find a use for. The first is on the bottom where it looks like there is a led/laser pointer type device and on the rear, also near the bottom there is another small circular object that looks like it could have been either some sort of infra red device or something. There is no option on the phone which uses these 2 things and nothing in the instruction that describes what they are.

Again the phone has very basic features but looks very nice, well built and is good for use as an emergency handset or for someone who only uses their phone for calls/sms use.

I paid £101 for the P5 which included postage costs and insurance.

However there is now a P6 pen phone which is slightly updated and includes a removable Lithium-Ion battery.
