Hi!
Just recenlty bought a dcu-11 usb cable to connect my k700 to the pc since i sold my laptop with infrared port. Now the problem is that transferring stuff between the k700 and pc using this cable is unbelievebluy slow! Like a 1.5 mb mp4 file takes like half an hour to transfer! And 100k images take several minutes! Have i done something completely wrong here? Using the IR, transfer was WAY faster! If the speed isn't better than this than i'll take this cable back for a refund! The speed is absolutely redicolous!
Anyone who's got an idea about this?

Speed of cable is 9.6 kbs - sell it. Go for bluetooth!
Posted by Merovingian
set the baud rate to maximum..
Posted by Olmen
I tried that but it seems it had no effect at all. Very poorly done by SE! I'll go for the bluetooth then!

@Merovingian:
Where can you set the baudrate? I have the same "problem" as Olmen: it is super slow to transfer...
I have also contacted SE to ask, but they havent answered yet...

In device manager/ports/*your cable*/properties.
Good luck!
And btw, afaik the USB-cable doesn't operate at USB speed since it emulates a COM-port.. : S

setting a faster baud rate may render the cable inoperational. So you have to experiment. IR and BT are definitely much faster.

Have experienced the same, incredibly slow with bluetooth aswell. I discovered that using SE's bundled File Manager is largely responsible for the slow transfer. By using my PC's bluetooth software to use "Send File" it seems to transfer about 10 times quicker, so I always use this method now.

I am experiencing the same problems with my K700i and the DCU-11 cable. According to the Sony website faq
What speed does the cable support?
12 Mbps in USB mode, 921600 bps in baud rate mode. Actual speed depends on your phone content.
So the question is, how do we set the cable to USB mode and get the glorious 12Mbps !!

The DCU cable is very slow!! You should buy the DSS-25 stand to get fast speeds. I have the DCU cable and I sold it because it is too slow and now I got the DSS stand and the speed is faster!!!

what is the " DSS-25 stand"?

feco,
How did you get the DSS to work faster? I've gone to device mgr and set it up from 9600 to 115200 but not much different AFAIK.

DSS is a litle bit slower than bluetooth
Posted by seth_redbeta
So that DSS stand is much faster than DCU cable?

i also bough that usb cable dcu-11... and yeah it is sooooooo slow. and i bough it to be fast, thought it would be faster then bluetooth.. now i have a crappy usb cable and no bluetooth. and on their site they really pretend that the usb cable dcu-ss is fast!!!

Hey, I can't figure out how to get my phone to even connect through the DCU-11 cable - would any of you mind giving a quick little tutorial?
Thx

I have this DSS-25 and its reeeeally slow, a picture 35kb takes minutes. Anyone having the same problem?? Whats the problem?
Posted by Krubach
Go to
My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Under «Ports (Com & Lpt)» you should see a DCU-11.
Click properties and check the port settings.
Posted by Striker_sweden
The port speed is set to 128kbits/s, I still get ~1kb/s
Posted by apotts
Anyone had any success with this? DSS-20 runs at about 1KB/s max, regardless of port settings. Several minutes for a photo.
Good for upcoming firmware updates, but that's about it.

OK, I'm going to answer my own question!
Spoke to SE - it's a problem with the phone (S700) and MAY be corrected with the next firmware release, possibly in December.
He also suggested that my S700 should not do the occasional restart, and it should not have a dead pixel.
Dead pixel shown below:

Guys this has been suggested before in other threads -
Use FMA (Float Mobile Agent) Software to transfer files, its at least 5 times faster -
http://fma.sourceforge.net/index2.htm
it works with any tranfer media.

I've got SE P910i and SE K700i. The speed with p910 is 16kb/s and k700 is 8kb/s(with FMA) . I'm trying to connect the both devices with DSS-25 station, which came with the p910.
How can I transfer files with faster speed.

Guys, as kllr_dude posted, this is a known issue relating to SE software. Use FMA or K700 Dateimanager (http://k700.hitziger.net/index.php?id=infos&language=en) which communicates directly to the COM port (or emulation for USB). With my old DRS-11 serial cable, I get ~9k/s which is under 2mins/1mb with the latest version of K700 Dateimanager.

So, should I go for a bluetooth then???

APOTTS what the hell?
Did u just post in the wrong thread cause if not ure jacking it, so post it somewhere else.
Posted by k4m!k4ze
@payforfree - yes go for Bluetooth dongle
@yazan - be nice. he probably did it by mistake. It could happen to anybody
Posted by PayForFree
I see that there are bluetooth dongles on different prices but nothing else different. What's the idea??
Posted by k4m!k4ze
@payforfree - i'm not sure, i've never used one, probably the quality or distance but i've seen some members post that they did not get maximum transfer rates when they bought a low cost one.
maybe somebody else could help you out
Posted by rrojas260
I get something like 24kbps using DSS-25 to P900, i never use it anymore cos' i brought a card reader.

DK if this site will open, but http://mobilebulgaria.com/accessories/view.php?id=41&sub=shop

Yes, with the p910 it works fine, but with the k700 the speed is awful.

So for the K700i am I right in thinking that Bluetooth is the way to go for tranfering files etc. Faster than usb cable and IR???
Posted by PayForFree
Yup. I've got the adaptor - 23.5k upload and 30.8 download. Works perfectly.

first time user here,
i have the same issue at home (slow tfr rates)with K700i and DCU-11 cable, but not at work or at a mates house with same phone and cable. we've tried 2 phones , with 2 cables on 3 computers.
all three computers have the same OS, tried transfering the same file( about 5MB MP3) took 1hour 45 minutes on my computer, about 12 minutes at work computer and same at friends house. must be something to do with computer. a small picture (80kb)took 12 seconds at work and friends and about 1 minute at my home.
i am not familiar enough with computers to understand, but thought i would pass on this information so maybe a few of the clever ones out there can. basically i reckon its not the cable or phone fault, even 15mins for 5 MB isnt brilliant, but i think its OK and a damn site better than 1hr 45. if i could get that i'd be happy.
