I was quite surprised when I visited the SMART Business Center at Alabang Town Center yesterday - Sunday, July 11th - local time
It's not the usual seen inside the shop wherein you can just see some folks queueing up to pay their monthly fone bills 
They are now offering a low payment scheme for newly released SE and Nokia fones as well 
The average monthly fix price of Php 800 and 1.2k are the best ones to choose/avail from 
For the plan 800 it has a free 500 sms allocation per month, while for the plan 1200 - 550 free sms per month Free call I guess is about 200 mins./month There is also the 24 months period to pay, I guess that's what I will be availing of

You're right about the long lines! One must have lots of time and patience if they're really interested in getting those fones.

A 3 year contract?
Most of the phones offered there are nearing the one year mark and are up for replacement anytime soon. So if you don't mind seeing other people getting new phones and you getting stuck with your unit because of a 3 year contract, then go for it.
Best deal there is the O2 XDA2 because the retail price is about 45k to 50k.

So the conditions for K700 and P900 are the same? ie. if i want to get a K700, I pay 1200 monthly for 3 years!? What phones do i get for the 800 plan? Can somebody please verify the free minutes/sms i get for each plan. Thanks.
Is it possible to avail of consumable plans too? I'm on Globe but might switch to SMART if this promo is really what it's cracked up to be.

! Smart run out of SE fone models in their latest celfone promo plans 
. The SE P900 and SE K700i is already sold out - out of stock I should say I have no other recourse but to avail the Nokia 7610, quite a nice fone to have as well Looks like majority of the new subscribers really targeted the SE fone models specially the SE P900 - quite cheap for the plan, considering that it aslo has free 550 sms and 200 mins. of calls per month Well for those interested, just bring your a Visa Mastercard credit card - much preferred there and some proof of billing docs + your driver's license, I manage to get my unit in 4.5 hours flat mates 
Reminder to all SE fone lovers, stocks are already out, only Nokia models and some PDAs are ready for release. Maybe they'll have a part II with regards to their promo Hurry !!! Promo is good till supplies last or before July 17th - which ever comes first

I'm beginning to see what Smart is up to. They are trying to inflate their subscriber base. Even the original Smart subcribers will get these deals because of the cheap units. So don't believe the number of subscribers they will publish after this. They would also get people to switch from the competition. They may make some money from the other units but they will not on some.
For example,
For Plan 1,200 the net present value (at 10% per annum for 3 years) is 37,189.48 They will make money if they give out units that are less that this amount. But for the P900 and XDA2, Smart loses out. Smart will make a lot of money from the K700i because the retail price is about 22k.
For Plan 800, the net present value is 24,792.99.
So choose your units wisely. Smart might be pulling a fast one from you. On the other hand, there are some units where Smart loses out big time.
This is if you don't use your plan -- minutes and text. Point of view of existing subscribers who are in it for just the units (sort of an installment plan). If you use the plan, then these deals might be well worth it.

It's always been a 'cat-and-mouse' play between Smart and Globe I just hope that Globe will not be that strict when asking for the customer's credentials, like that of the Passbook (bank) accts. which I guess is too much personal to divulge ITR's and the likes is quite acceptable,also if you have a valid credit card that has a credit limit of about Php 500K/month will already do Also, the fones . . . I really miss having that SE K700i as I've already planned of getting . . . So in the end, I just got a Nokia 7610 - though the features are quite good, minus the FM radio which the SE K700i has ! My fone has not been activated right now, it's been 2 days and still has no network coverage and they say that I can already use the unit within 24 hours

I only have a PT job right now and therefore don't have a credit card yet? Can i still avail of this promo? If so, what's the minimum i would need in my bank account? (assuming i don't have dependents and don't have to pay any bills)

Modesty aside here, but when we presented our Bank Statement when I applied in the promo which has 7 figures they are still asking for the passbook (bank), my Dad got quite furious about it and plans to just buy me a brand new SE K700i at Semicon . . . fortunately the sales guy saw my Dad's irritated face and just made him cool down I noticed some potential buyers getting irritated as well because of their strictness with pertinent documents needed 
If you have a friend who has the required credit card, better ask him a favor if you can 'ride' with him if he's also applying for a new unit. Or yet, better wait for Globe's upcoming promo as well

@jojo Thanks for your input...yeah that's crazy..who wouldn't get pissed. I'll just wait for the Globe promo...hopefully it will be as good, with less hassle though =) and maybe i'll have a FT by then. And more importantly, they better have lots of K700's on stock cuz i don't wanna settle for a Nokia 7160/6230. I really wanna get it on a plan though...only down-side is that i can't sell the phone when it becomes outdated...hopefully upgrading the phone while still on contract wont be too expensive.

With regards to promos and financial requirements. Mas strict na nga sila parehas. When I bought my P900 on G-Flex 1200 last April. I noticed the increase in level of income. And the also the credit investigation is longer (3 to 4 days) unlike nung first time ako nagplan (2002) na within 45 mins I got my phone and after 15 minutes activated na.
Yun sa smart naman, minsan daw sa dami ng nag-aaply, may mga cases na hindi na naaactivate yung sim ( I know somebody personally). Eh medyo hindi mabait - hindi nireport sa smart. Ayun nagkafreephone sya bigla without getting any monthly bill.
Ang mas gusto ko lang sa globe eh libre and ewap (kababalik lang nila ng service - hopefully eh wag na tanggalin). Hehehe

Globe came out with their offer na. Same promo offers as Smart (no SE P900), Promo will be from July 15-22.
But just talked to the Smart ppl, I was still able to apply for a K700i. But I will have to wait for the unit. So if you still want an SE phone you can still get one. Kudos with Globe, they have SE K700i for the promo.
Maslugi ka nga sa K700i in terms of handset value compared to the others on the table but if you want SE only, that's your only option.

my experience with the smart promo to share...
nearest smart wireless center from my office is smart tower ayala and
gold crest.went to smart tower first around 11am. my number stub was more than two hundred away from the present number they were serving.i came back around 2 pm and alas, i was still more than two hundred away.
i went to smart gold crest and after an hour of waiting ive submitted
the docs required. to my dismay, their promo benefits only first time subscribers. i am on addict with plan 1200. if i would opt for another line, the 15k/month basic salary goes up to 20k (at plan 800).anyway, the cs accepted my application and told me to wait for 2-3 weeks (compared to the 3-5 days they said).
and yes, smart is strict with the docs required unlike before.
with the handsets, only voyager (plan 800, 2 year contract) and se k700i (plan 1200, 3 year contract) are available.
and also, ive heard from their cs that the nokia 6600 has been phased out by nokia.

In parallel with this promo, Smart has "Corporate Blitz" where your HR only needs to provide a list of employees to Smart so no more waiting, no queue, no hassle. Minimum 20 employees.
The XDA has been pulled out from Wireless Centers and is now only available via this promo.

You just cannot misplace a thing which has that big amount of value They (Smart) must have done a vigorous physical count/inventory of all the fones they've released during the promo I myself, become a store manager once, and when we are doing an inventory we are very strict, even to the last piece of 'toothpick' that we can get hold of Just my humble opinion here mate It's nice to hear from @aquagirl that Globe already followed suit, as expected, though no SE P900 included 
. . . How I really wished that I was able to get that SE K700i, so I can openly join the dicsussion in one of the threads here

one of the reasons why smart had this promo is to have a loyal subscribers for up to 3 years minimum. dont calculate the monthly bill for 3 years to compare it with the price of the unit when you buy it in cash... remember that 1,200 is your monthly bill for the service usage, and not a "hulugan for 3 years". you actually really get the phones for free, or if you want the other way, you pay for the phone in 3 years, and you get your bill for free, unless you exceed the limit.
and.. why would they want loyal subscribers? who wouldn't want to? Sun cellular has been doing this promo from their first month of operation till now, they offer free phones for select monthly plans for two year contract. smart realizes that this is a real competition and they are starting to feel the presence of sun (and aggressiveness of globe), so they've got to think of a way to have loyal subscribers for three years... it is to overwhelm you, lure you with these SE phones and Nokia phones,.. you get them for free, but you will be our "hostage" for three years, (good if you like their services and if you'll never have major problems with the network's services), afterall, some of us haven't changed our numbers and networks for 5 (max) consecutive years already, why mind a 3 year contract (smart.. for me.. is GOOD).
besides, rumors about extelcom are still around, so smart has to capture a "solid market share" for at least 3 years.
btw, i buy the fact that they (smart) also "somehow" earns from other phone models (i.e. k700 and nokias) in this promo.

But, I guess Smart won't be needing that promo just to garner new subscribers In my own opinion, they are still leading the pack amongst our local celfone network Globe needs this kind of marketing strategy in order to retain the top post which they had a couple of years back! I asked Smart's customer care hotline last 2 days ago on the issue of what they did not have that promo in the ads - tri-media, they replied: 'With the power of the text messaging we have in the country today, we won't be needing it, also to save us some money' ! The word of mouth will surely spread like a sandwich spread, I mean like fire in no time, he laments!

I wish T-Mobile in US would have some good promos, but the best SE phone they have is the T610 and from Nokia the 6600. We are pretty back here in the mobile phone stores.
