Here's a sight to make all P900 owners cry:
Bit of a mess, aint it! I've just bought this with the intention of restoring it. I need some bits (see my thread in the 'accessories wanted' section:)
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=63074
My first question is - what buttons do I press to get it to the standby screen? With my P800, you press the power button, it then asks me if I want to turn the phone on, or go into flight mode etc. Is it the same for the P900? Also, is there a website or a way of checking a phone's IMEI to see if it's been blocked at all?
I'll try to keep updating this with my progress, and more silly questions no doubt

Just phoned Orange and gave them the P9's IMEI, guess what.... the damn things BLOCKED!!!!
Doh. Such is life.

@sammy_boy - You just cannot have it all mate . . . . you just cannot have it all
Posted by Superluminova
sell it on ebay mate someone will buy it
Posted by Sammy_boy
just put a new screen in the phone (which I thought I'd cancelled the order for..... evidently not!!) and confirmed it is blocked - it constantly says 'searching' when trying to find a network.
Oh well, does anyone have a P900 (NOT blocked) with a broken screen they're willing to part with?

Or you can change the IMEI, but that's illegal, so do NOT do it.

Sell it as faulty and for parts only! Then buy a new battery cover for ur t610 ;-)

How much did you pay for the handset?
and the screen costs around £100 ouch!

@sammy boy: how much do you want for it?
Posted by Sammy_boy
I got the phone for £85, and the screen for £76. Ouch indeed!!
I'm working out what to do with it - the person who I got it off genuinely didn't realise it was blocked, and is going to try to get it unblocked (if possible). I may try to get another P9 with a broken screen and put the good screen into that, not sure yet!

@sammy_boy - Here in my place, the only solution re: your problem is to have the IMEI changed - last recourse I suppose

@jojo: It now has a new screen:
I'm now debating whether to sell the phone as it is now, or keep the new screen to put in another broken P900 and sell the rest for spares, or what!! I don't think I'll change the IMEI, I haven't got a data cable for this phone or anything nor the skills in the software department
I may hang fire for a little while, as I say, there's a tiny chance the guy who sold it to me may be able to get Orange to reverse the block, as I think he sold it in good spirit and sounds quite guilty about the whole scenario!

hmm how do you un-blacklist a phone
Posted by Sammy_boy
@orangeman - I phone up Orange, and they said that the original owner (i.e. the person that originally 'blacklisted' the phone, could ring Orange up, and get this lifted - although this depended on why the phone was blacklisted in the first place. If it was stolen, then I guess there'd be no chance!
Would that sound about right to you, or is it a load of rubbish?
I'm not sure if the lady I spoke to thought that I'd stolen it or something!
Posted by wapchimp
yeah that is right
Posted by *Jojo*
@sammy_boy - It will now all depend on your disposition mate

I think you could be right @jojo - I have been spending a bit of money recently on phones - second (or even third!) hand ones! It's been a hobby of mine recently to fix up phones and sell them - but I've found myself keeping quite a few of them!!
I'm going to scale back some of my buying, and sell some of the phones I've acquired (and fixed!)

Could someone answer a query I have - what does the P900 say when it's blocked? For example, the T610 comes up with 'invalid mobile' where the network provider should be, and Nokias say 'sim card registration failed'. This P900 simply says 'searching'.
Does this point more to a signal fault rather than the phone being blocked?
Trying to make a call and the phone eventually makes the three ascending beeps to say it cannot make the call.
Help please!

'searching' is not a known error msg for P900 (according to my system)
invalid mobile though, is

@wapchimp - does this mean that the phone may have a signal/aerial fault as well as being blocked?
Posted by djpowelly
Hang on, If its blocked, will it let you turn it on at all?!? I mean get past the welcome screen?

@DJ yes it does still turn on- it will do anything an unblocked P9 does except make/recieve calls & texts! Cam works fine, calendar, etc.
