I am trying to set up my SE K700i to download mail from my Virgin Net account. I have attempted to set up the account under the E-mail section of Messaging but I keep getting the message Finding Server which just stays there until I press Cancel. Does anyone know if its possible to set up this phone so that Virgin Net mail will download to it ? Many thanks in advance.

Might be worth posting your settings so that any other virgin.net users can check them out. Obviously don't post usernames and passwords though...

For the Incoming Server try pop.virgin.net

Still no joy - but thank you for the advice, it was worth a try !

I know that on 02, I had to change the outgoing server address from my ISP (in my case Eclipse internet) to 02's own smtp server. You may wish to try that. You'll need to find out the appropriate address for Vodafone. You never know, Vodafone may have blocked the facility to receive email, they seem to like messing around with SE handsets!

PS. Ignore the last sentence, I was just being cynical....

I changed the outgoing server to send.vodafone.net which seems to be their server according to their vodafone live website but still the problem occurs. I'll have another look on their website and see if I can find any tips - I used to be able to connect to Virgin mail via T-Mobile no problems so can't understand why Vodafone would be different !

Virgin.Net do not offer SMTP access. Might wanna sign up for t-email and use there outgoing server just change the incoming config to virgin. Should work fine :-D

Yes they do. I have a virgin account on my handset as we speak.
pop.virgin.net is correct. You do need the voda smtp server if using gprs to send mails. You maybe using a wap gprs account. I know with orange there is a wap & gprs account/apn.
Ring voda, they should be able to help

For incoming mail it should be mail.virgin.net or pop3.virgin.net and for outgoing mail smtp.virgin.net

Some networks actually require you to use their smtp server if you connect via gprs. If you are using the virgin dial up number, you should put their smpt server in. I'd test that aswell to see if it works

I have tried all the suggestions but still to no avail - I am connecting via Vodafone GPRS. Perhaps I should change this setting ? I will give Vodafone a call later on to see if they can shed some light on what I am doing wrong and will post back any comments they have. Cheers !

Ask them if they have an internet apn/gprs account for sending emails ;-)

I'm having a similar problem with Virgin & checking 4 mails from my P800 on O2 GPRS-it says it's checking, but doesn't get past that animation. Tried what's suggested in this thread

Success ! I finally got it to work successfully - I had to go onto the SE website and download the software settings for Email - you fill in the details on their website and they send you the settings by text. It worked fine and first time as well ! So now all is working perfectly with my K700i .... link to the settings as follows :
