they are the same right? and how do i know if the midi is 32 voices or 40 ?

The abbreviation "MIDI" stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface" and is a standard for interchange of music between different kind of equipments.

For further information, take a look at The MIDI Manufacturers Association (MMA).

The word "polyphonic" consists of "poly" which means something like "many" or "more" and "phonic" which means something like "sound" or "acoustic".

So, no, they are not the same.

Perfect response, bico. A proper way to use the two terms would be to say "MIDI's are polyphonic".

And the midi format supports up to 32 channels. The mmf format that is commonly used by samsung phones supports 40 channels but this format is rarely used.
