my friend's first 4 digit mobile is 0919 and he did not do that OTA thing. i asked him that and he does not know about it. he just called up the smart cs (888-1111). he did some deception and asked questions like what is gprs, mms, wap etc. and he knows what all of that means. maybe he used his charm on the gal?

How come I can't access Smart's WAP? It says "invalid access point name"
Posted by arnoldc
@pran, using which profile?
Posted by pran
arnold, I'm using the SmartGPRS profile (set via OTA config) [I have three profiles, SmartMMS (APN=mms;CID=1), SmartPC (APN=internet;CID=2), and SmartGPRS (APN=smart1;CID=3)]. I've also read the first post of this thread which requires me to enter smartwap for both the username and password which I also did on the T68. What else could be wrong?

@pran, for the profiles SmartPC, SmartGPRS and SmartMMS there is no user name and password. also, your default WAP profile should be SmartGPRS.
the data account and profile called SmartWAP is only used for CSD (may bayad) and the profile SmartWAP requires the username/password smartwap

arnold, I've deleted the username/password in the WAP profile SmartGPRS but I still couldn't access any WAP site. I'm still receiving the message Wrong access point name (APN).

i like to suggest that u get another simcard and try it.. it could be the phone.
Posted by arnoldc
@pran, check the profile SmartGPRS, it should have Connect using = SmartGPRS.
Posted by pran
arnold, yes the WAP profile uses the SmartGPRS data comm. entry. I just confirmed that the SmartPC data comm. profile works (connected my Palm via IR to the phone and browsed the web using Xiino). Could it still be the phone? I've already e-mailed the Customer Support of Smart regarding this but I haven't received any reply. BTW, I'd like to confirm if the WAP gateway for Smart is still 10.102.61.46

Posted by arnoldc
@pran, yes the IP address of the wap gateway is still the same.
Posted by pran
BTW, is the APN still "smart1" or has it changed?
Posted by arnoldc
@pran, still the same. i do post changes.
Posted by arnoldc
@pran, you are not the only one experiencing this problem (Invalid APN)
i was talking to smart technical earlier and i was informed they were doing some adjustments. this may have caused this error.
Posted by arnoldc
you guys may also try using SmartMMS profile for the meantime to browse wap sites.
smart is currently tweaking the system which may have caused these problems. nevertheless, i have been coordinating with the technical people and they are aware of these requests/problems:
a) support for large data transfer - they told me that it will be configured tonight
b) lost access to ericsson gateway - they will look into it
c) can't access mail servers from email client - they will look into it
Posted by arnoldc
My request was fulfilled by Smart, we now have large data transfers via Smart's gateway. Enjoy!

OMG!!!!! Wap via GPRS is FREE?!?!?!? (Damn! should have been reading forums here more often than www.tsixtyeight.com) Anyway, may MMS na ba ang Smart?! if there is already, can I download them for free? nice nice nice
thanks again arnoldc!
wonder how long it would take before they open their gateways to each other (Smart and Globe)
Posted by pran
arnold, I still get the same error (Wrong APN) even if I use the SmartMMS data comm. profile. I've configured my Smart WAP setting to ask me what data comm. profile I will use for the session. Are you now able to browse through Smart's WAP gateway? BTW, if you guys are interested, I can provide a dedicated forum on our bulletin board ( Kuro.ph - http://www.kuro.ph/forums ). Just check out the board and let me know what you think.

My WAP access is now back to normal. I just tested it this morning. Thanks to arnold and the rest of the group for helping me fix my problem. Next step is to check out MMS and see if it works. Somebody care to send me a number I can test?
Posted by pry10
@pran snd me 1. 09189149353
Posted by pran
+pry10: thanks, I just sent an MMS to you. BTW, I've noticed that ever since I upgraded my T68m, the data comm. profiles are lost when I turn off the unit. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi, everyone I am new here at pinoy chit chat. I am working at the Cavite Export Processing Zone.
I hope anyone can help me, my MMS is not working to date, I have done and followed the OTA configuration. I am able to use my GPRS though.
Every time I download MMS or send MMS I get the following error message, "GPRS failed, wrong Access Point Name"
Heeelllllpp!
Posted by arnoldc
@henryj, this came from Smart.

I still can't download themes from Ericsson's website using Smart's WAP gateway. Can someone confirm this? This has been happening since day 1 I subscribed to Smart.
Posted by arnoldc
pran,
are you able to view other wap sites? the themes on sony ericsson mobile internet are much, much smaller than the themes on my site which you can download via smart's wap gateway.
Posted by migueltan
i hope d pa sila magstart charging ng sept.. bka bukas pa maactivate GPRS ko.. hhhaaayyy...
Posted by 619
migs....it is best to view this topic via pc than wap device..hehe.. will take u ages to find the solution using a wap.....
Posted by pran
arnold, weird but I could not longer access WAP via GPRS. Someone from Smart's Customer Care told me that I have to activate my GPRS (again?!).
Posted by arnoldc
@pran, it could be due to reconfiguration so you have to do the OTA again.
@migueltan, everything you need is on the first page of this topic. i don't have to post it again.
Posted by pran
arnold, It was their mistake. I can now download theme files from Ericsson's website. You mentioned that you have a site with themes, can you post it here? Thanks again.

hi!
does smart have a POP3 / SMTP access for their my.smart.com.ph textmail? if so, can somebody please post them here. tI'd like to use kase the email function on my phone rather than the smart zed textmail e.
And does anybody know when will GPRS be available to prepaid subscribers?
thanks!
Posted by arnoldc
@angelikdevil,
1. no pop3/smtp for that
2. no official word on gprs for prepaid, although smart has been testing grps on prepaid randomly
Posted by angelikdevil
Thanks arnold!
Although, i've been using GPRS using smart's MMS setting for my prepaid sim. My postpaid sim sometimes cannot connect to wap through GPRS. Why is that?
[ This Message was edited by: angelikdevil on 2002-08-28 02:16 ]
Posted by arnoldc
@angelikdevil, for your postpaid, double check the phone settings against those listed on the first post of this topic.
Posted by angelikdevil
thanks again!

I just received a text message from smart (211) that i'll receive a new mms setting. But I havent got it yet from 'em.
Does anybody know the new MMS setting for smart? Thanks.
Posted by arnoldc
i received the same this morning. just wait for the new configuration to be downloaded to your phone.
Posted by arnoldc
i received the 'new' settings and installed it. and guess what? i can't send MMS! *&^&^#(*&$^
so to those who have their MMS currently working, i advise you not to install the 'new' configuration.
Posted by arnoldc
smart is driving me crazy! to quote:
| Quote: |
MMS Update: Second MMS setting will be sent to you. Please save and activate the new configuration and experience the exciting world of MMS. (No Charge) |
well, the only thing good is the last two words.
oh, i got this after i formally complained about the first settings.

Arnoldc- just like the globe ota, it f k up the original gprs n mms settings
Posted by angelikdevil
I think i know the answer to the whole mess:
smart and globe are trying to open their gateways to allow (for a lack of a better word) "inter-messaging" thru mms.
to resolve the problem, just (for smart) configure u'r fone again Over the air then when a message comes telling you to wait for the new config, don't save the new config!!!
hehehe...

@arnold- Been trying to configure my smart no. I already did SET MMS, SET INTERNET T68, SET GPRS T68, edited the IP address under Set Internet na din. I received their configuration on their reply but I still dont have my GPRS bar. I attempted to connect but GPRS failed. I called Smart na and its active naman daw on their part.
Posted by arnoldc
@berry, call them and ask them to verify if gprs is indeed active on the switch and on your profile.
Posted by arnoldc
Henryj, you should follow the procedures of angelikdevil. All of you who received that message from smart and installed the configuration should follow the procedure mentioned.
