Any body into extreme sports here at esato? I am personally into Mountain Biking. Any mountain biker here?
Posted by whizkidd
Looks like nobody here at esato likes the outdoors!
Posted by Ayush
That's good:-) i used to cycle a lot some time back :-)
Posted by whizkidd
Hey Ayush dude are you into mountain biking? Or only simple cycling
Posted by Ayush
Hey i was only into biking. Where do you mountain bike?
Posted by whizkidd
We go to the nearby hills. Its great!
Posted by vinnieza
any snowboarders or skaters here?
Posted by Merovingian
I'm doing quite a lot mountain biking/regular biking.. we usually race in the woods

At Edinburgh the past 2 weeks trying to get down Princes' Street could be classed as an extreme sport. Why do all the freaks from the 4 corners of the world converge on Edinburgh for the Festival!?
Posted by whizkidd
And what bike do you have? My friend has a Schwinn Moab.

One picture say's more than a thousand words so here you have 5000 words from me
Posted by Lynx69
Im into cricket and football (soccer to the americans here
Posted by masseur
not exactly what I'd call extreme sports though
I guess the most extreme I get is aerobatics in several aerobatic aircraft including a Pitts special and a Robin 2160
edit: oh, and canyoning, mostly in and around the Blue Mountains

Posted by tranquil
Well... No prize for guessing why I quit.
Posted by Ayush
@whiz which bike you got? An imported one?
Posted by whizkidd
Imported bikes are too expensive. Can't afford them.
Posted by Ayush
And how do you get them at all? I heard india makes cheapest bikes? But are they globally competitive?
Posted by whizkidd
Yeah indian bikes are cheap. My bike cost me less than 100 dollars! And they are not bad. But the frames are heavy and they use basic Shimano transmission.
Posted by Ayush
Yeah. Your bike is geared?

Because we follow our own comeadic freaks there. ;D

oh,
u guys try river rafting?? its really awesome! and so very exhilirating.
the rapids up north, i have to try.
apart from that, another extreme sport i compete in is trying to balance 2 plates of food, a pack of crisps and a cola while trying to watch tv.
Posted by Ayush
And surfing esato ;-)
Posted by whizkidd
Of course Ayush! mountain biking on ungeared bikes would be nothing short of a nightmare. Especially the climbing part.
Posted by Ayush
Dude pls advise. Should i go for hero only or some other brand?
Posted by whizkidd
Hercules is good too. Can't say about Atlas though.
Posted by Ayush
But hercules doesn't have racer bikes does it?
Posted by whizkidd
Of course it has! Under the BSA brand.
Posted by Ayush
Oh. What's the model name?
Posted by whizkidd
Damn! I forgot the name. As you know, i am not into racers thats why i dunno much about them. But one thing Hercules MTBs are better than that of Hero.
Posted by Ayush
But pls say which racer is better? Do you know about hawk nu age?
Posted by whizkidd
I am still recommending a mountain bike!
Posted by Ayush
But i don't have any mountains!
Posted by whizkidd
Mountain bikes are more comfortable on Indian Roads because of their transmission and suspension. And the constitution of india doesn't say you have to ride mountain bikes only in the mountains! :-D
Posted by absinthebri
I used to backpack, abseil, etc. Not really extreme but lots of fun.
Posted by Ayush
But i've owned so many mtbs let me try new
Posted by whizkidd
Then go for the racer. But i dunno much about them.
Posted by switchbitch
I used to compete pro-am in freestyle and big mountain skiing; won lots of comps in canada and new zealand. Been injured for 2 years, but getting back into it again now.
Posted by mince-inside
I guess Skiing with ya kids is pretty extreme? My oldest aged 4 at the time at the top of his 1st Red run Winter 2004 (my poles)
and at the bottom trying to look cool
(Taken with P900 Auto)

that sounds great. I admire people who can do that, in fact I admire anyone who can ski! while aerobatics scares most people and infact only my wife has ever dared come up with me, each time I have tried to ski it has scared the willies out of me making me retire to the apres-ski very quickly!
I bet you're one of those nutters who have chucked away the ski poles and just headed directly down hill to see how fast you can go?
Posted by mince-inside
I've only one that once on the Hannen Kam (Don't think that is spelt correctly) at Kitzbule (or that) years ago racing in my 220cm K2 planks but now I prefer the more sedate carving 180cm Atomics at the moment.

I have a friend who is really into kite surfing, im getting a shot at it next week, he's going to take me to the beach and show me the basics i cant wait!
Posted by masseur
although I was replying to switchbitch (but you got in the middle) I'm equally impressed by kids that I see shooting down the slopes at a young age. mind you they have no fear do they!?
Posted by whizkidd
Skiing is such an alien sport for me! Pssst.... I haven't even seen snow in my whole life!
Posted by methylated_spirit
If you want a real extreme sport, play "dodge the vomit and the neds" in Kilmarnock at the weekends!
Posted by Sir-SonyEricsson-man
