@axxxr- Yes! I've seen that Samsung fone which has it's LCD swivels. The successor of the V200 ! Now it's 'copycat' time for Nokia . . .

Posted by bart
we still need to be aware. you never know what the cunsumors might think. maby some sort of crazy new hype could emerge. don't forget alot of people still think nokia is the best (i use to laugh at them, but now i think its sad, that there' so dumb)

Posted by axxxr
Nokia hasn’t even properly unveiled any of the phones they’re going to announce next week, but they’re already getting roundly panned. They’re supposed to launch a couple of new flip-phones (including one with a swiveling LCD screen), a small 3G handset, and a new musicphone (their third try at one), and the buzz, at least according to Reuters, isn’t good.

Nokia doesn't innovate anymore, it's the same old ideas over and over again.

Posted by Skrue
@scotsboyuk - how true!!!

Posted by axxxr
Don't diss nokia yet...You never know they might surprise us all!!

Posted by SnowBear
i'll hope it's going to nokias best phone's ever so good that i like them .. but i hope this for one reason so can crush them HARD!!!
and prove that is the best there is

One good thing about Nokia (and of course SE) is that they don't use external antennas. In my opinion most Samsungs and Motorolas are ruined by the huge phallic things sticking out of them.

I like the dudes name who wrote the first article.

Now, people guess. Is that me ore not?

Posted by scotsboyuk
In my opinion Nokia have gotten to the stage where they think that people will buy anything they release. The designs we are now seeing are either completely fruity or just old ideas with a lick of paint.

Posted by kbloom
May I just ask... how come you made another Nokia thread when u deleted everyone elses?

Posted by scotsboyuk
@kbloom

Do you mean axxxr? If so then l'm not sure what you are meaning since axxxr can't delete threads.

Posted by Jowi
hate the designs of their clamshells

Posted by khaosspawn
Gotta agree with scotsboyuk. When Nokia released phones with more colours on their cases than on their screens, you could see that the show was over.

Posted by T-tox
I have read that there will be on 7700 coming out. True?

Posted by nils7
Actually if you look at the most advanced ones (6630 and 6260)
You will see they overpower all SE's (definetly the 6630).

Hate to to conclude to all SE fans overhere but just take a look at the real specs and than reply again!

I hate to conclude you guys ripp off the 6260 which is exactly almost a copy of the 3D image of the "z2020" that you all loved... strange...

Better take a look at the phones again and than comeback... I think most guys here don't even know how they look!

@nils7

I feel that you have overlooked some very important points in your praise of the Nokia handsets you mentioned in your last post. I shall deal with each handset in turn and I shall begin with the 6630.
The main point that you have failed to take into consideration with the 6630 is that it is a 3G handset and therefore really should be of a high specification when compared to 2G handsets. The very fact that it is a 3G handset force sit to contend with several features, e.g. video clips, the large memory capacity is a reflection of the fact that as a 3G phone there will no doubt be a higher usage of video clips on such a device.
The 6260 is actually quite laughable, you seem to think that releasing a phone with its specifications, now, is actually something to be proud of. Nokia should have had this phone out months ago to compete with the plethora of smartphones that have appeared on the market. At any rate, its features are not really all that impressive and will no doubt be eclipsed by the new range of smartphones due to be released this year. You also fail to mention that the design of the phone is extremely similar to Samsung and LG models with respect to the swivelling screen, not that such a design is exclusive to either of the aforementioned manufacturers, but it does seem somewhat strange that a company, which prides itself on innovative design should be seen to 'copy' design elements from another company.

I quite like the 6260 shame it does'nt have a MP cam or flash..could have also done with an external screen.

Posted by nils7
@ ScotsboyUK

The 6630 is just one of the few 3G handsets with 1.+ megapixelcamera!
Just 3 have been presented with those same functions!
Watching videoclips/videos on a series60 device is one of the main
features used by its users!
All 3G phones that are comming this year (uptill now presented)... don't have such of a list with all of those features!
It doens't have only WCDMA but also EDGE!
Than the OS... Series60 SE is the most powerfull OS at this moment available for a phone.
Push email is a very powerful and handy feature!
The new improved mediaplayer and Office viewers are new.
AND not that large for a 3G phone!

The 6260 is a very nice phone... maybe they copied the design but who copied the candybar from who?
The navigationkeys positions are new!
Never saw that... and you could use the phone on a S700 way!
It has a hotswappable MMCslot. Just the fourth nokia with it...
And why put new features in it if the competition with more features is from Nokia also (6630) and the 6260 will still be a great phone in 6 months from now because the competitors lack of other great phones except if you put the P910 in the same box with it!

Some new accessories from Nokia like a foldable QWERTY keyboard and external flash.

Believe me, I'm not Pro Nokia but I'm fond of new powerful mobile devices... if something catches my eye it is something!

Maybe these aren't the best phones from 2004 but if there is one
better it still has to be presented in my eyes!

@nils

Series 60 is not the most powerful OS around. UIQ is equally powerful. Windows is also powerful (and power-hungry) as well. You can consider Palm as powerful too. What do you mean by power anyway?

Just to make a correction here. Series 60 and UIQ are not OS's. Those both are UI's, which are running on top of Symbian operating system.

I really like series 60 enabled handsets

@nils7

I am not one of these people that criticises Nokia just for the sake of it, I stand by my comments on both of these phones. I don't think they are bad phones, it's just that I feel one can do better if one waits, there are a whole plethora of new phones just around the corner, including a rumoured second 3G phone from SE, which is apparently fantastic.
I would still hold to the point that Nokia have lost their edge (no pun intended) in design and quality, they need to stop reusing old designs and models with a lick of paint and a few extra features; they also need to stop releasing phones that look like the handiwork of a hyper-active chimp on speed let loose on a drawing board!

Posted by p900 lover
i like the 6260 and the 6170

the good thing bout nokia and se is no external antena

Posted by jomni1
Sorry for the mistake of treating Series 60 or UIQ as different OS. Yes they're both Symbian and that makes them equally capable.

I agree that nokia is still up to its old tircks of releasing new phones with little difference from the older models. They do it because it worked before. And a lot of people don't care about 3G or other high tech stuff. They just get tired of the look of their old phones and want something that looks different. I like the 6260's form factor but I'm not buying because I already have the 6600 (nothing drastically new).

Posted by mib1800
Most SE fans criticisms of Nokia new phones are indeed very hollow.
Other than the overly expensive niche P900, SE do not even have any phone that can compete with 6260/6630/7610/6600/3660/3650/Ngage.

Now most Nokia mid to high end phones are all smartphone based on Series 60. This is a very strategic move as smartphone business is skyrocketing.

If hardware capabilities (such cam, memory etc) are the same, then software makes the difference. And with Series 60, there are thousands of software to expand the capability of the phone.

So SE can go spend a lot of effort building new phones and adding new features. All Nokia has to do is repackage their phone in different casing format to suite all segments of the market and tap on 3rd party software to give features to phone.

To a consumer a smartphone is definitely a better buy as functionality is upgradable.

The main reason that so many people see Nokia as tosh.

Nobody seems to have noticed the news that Nokia will introduce new screen resolutions for Series 60 later this year.. 208 x 208, 240 x 320 and 352 x 416. They will also use it in low-end models too.
