O2 online have stopped for the moment selling the Nokia 6230 due to buggy software and bad build design.

Posted by aZooZa
What's the source of this please? CPW have heard nothing about it...

Posted by TheWhizz_68
Thats what i was told by a sales person (o2 customer service) yesterday , i had one delivered which was no good (kept crashing/resetting) and a replacement was ordered.
5 days past so i rang them to see where my replacement was and then was told at the moment we are not stocking the 6230 due to the volume of returned sets and phone calls of people having problems with the 6230.
I got a different phone on its way now

Orange were due to release it yesterday. But it has now been postponed to the end of the month due to s/w issues

Posted by lovewalrus
Just spoke to a friend at Nokia in Finland and he confirmed there talking crap! There is a serious shortage of the 6230 because there sales forcasts where wrong and they can't produce enough for the European markets-thats OFFICIAL!!! Networks often give s/w as an excuse to cover the fact that they can't get any-saves embarrasment!

Posted by wapchimp
Why would a network be embarrased if nokia can't make eough of them? They would just say it's a stock shortage?

Posted by lovewalrus
Because an operator does not want admit another network has more influence with manufacturers than themselves and thus has priority over available stock!

Can't help but notice you're very Nokia biased. Your friend works for Nokia (Who lie about Everything!) and you're posting from a Nokia.
Nokia will admit nothing, they even told me that nobody had ever complained of software problems on the 3510. At this point I moved to SE because I was sick of Nokia trying to make out it was me who was the problem and not the phone.

There are many problems with the 6230 and don't let people tell you different.
Resets itself for no reason , bluetooth dropping connection and this is just a couple of remarks. It drove me insane and CPW are aware as well if you deal with someone who doesn't lie just to get a sale.

The phone is very buggy and pretty much crap as it stands at the moment

Telling customers the phones faulty would be stupid if it were a lie!
Lets face it nokia have rushed out another pile of sh1t!

Posted by lovewalrus
only using Nokia at the moment as P900 in 4repair. with all phones there initial difficulties-but lets not slate one manufacturer because where biased towards SE. No manufacturer wants 2admit there fones r not 100percent-but look at the 7110 and orange issue-they denied ever havin probs, but we all know that not 2b true! ;-)

Posted by nabraxas
You can't really call be biased as I owned about 5 Nokia handsets before I bought a T68i and then a T610 (Which has just come back from being repaired). I sent my 3510 to be repaired and it came back without even being touched. Same problems, they had just dismissed it and classed it as user error. That's when I decided I wasn't going to buy another Nokia as it's quite insulting for Nokia to say that I'm making the phone freeze for no reason.

But look at Celestica with SE-possibly one of the worst service agents with a reputation to match a gutter rat! All manufacturers have there faults. The idea of this forum is to share ideas and unbiased viewes rather than slate anyone person/company through personal experience. Think it's best we help each other find ways round faults or false info and share relevant info and generally be more constructive, yeh?

well its not crap at all i had a 6230 on o2 on monday i took it an o2 store to have some gprs settings installed no one could do it the 6230 isnt working on o2 the software is to full of bugs so i did the smart thing i got a p900 instead

Posted by ac
The 6230 i got has an updated firmware version and none of the bugs were present. Here in India, its flying off the shelves. The shop i got it from already has people waiting for it. Seems like 6230 will sell very well until the K700 reaches stores. Speaking about bugs... doesn't anyone remember the hissing sound problem with the T610 when it came out?

Posted by wapchimp
Lets face it every phone has bugs T68>T68i>T610, Nokias, Motorola etc etc etc

Posted by Superluminova
i don't think anything can ever be 100% bug free as it all starts of with a person and we all make mistakes

Posted by david1975
yes i agree no phone manufacture produces 100% bug free handsets i have had loads of phones that didnt work

Posted by AntonioX

Well mate thats aload of shit, as for
1 I work for o2 and there has not been a recall on the handset and
2 i have had my 6230 for a month now, and i am very happy with it

Posted by AntonioX

yep GPRS and MMS is working fine on my 6230 not probs at all, if you have probs all you need to do is call customer service and get em to put you on to data support and they will sort it out for you

Posted by david1975

Think you got a mobile confused with a drill! LOL

Posted by AntonioX

Wot are u on about mate, the mobile might have been recalled in the us then
again I dont even think its even been released in the us, oh you was thinking about a drill sorry my bad

Gotta just say I bought a sim free 6230 from expansys and even if the phone is not as good as I expected, it has not crashed once or reset its self, and works fine on the orange network, but the phone is a big disappointment, just don't think nokia will ever match sony ericsson, for quality of build and design. Just my opinion!

For a phone that reportedly was due to replace the long awaited Nokia 6310i...im not impressed at all.

I can count 5 MAJOR faults not to mention all the niggly crap! A new highly reliable business phone? I think not...

PS I have had one for over 1 1/2 months and only stick with it cos the potential is good...and just waiting for a reliable software upgrade is available before i upgrade SW.

PS mine has an annoying dead pixel!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhh

Posted by lovewalrus
Like with all phones, the 6230 aint perfect. The media player has probs playin some mp4 files, and music player won't play AAC files when mp3's are present. Apart from that, i like it. Think nokia have not tried hard enough to satisfy consumers due to there previous propition in the market place unlike SE who keep coming up with fattre packed beauties! but then again, all phones have there faults-just depends on the tolerance level of the user! Each to there own :-)

Posted by JiggyJaggy
True...i agree with you to an extent.

But they shoudnt compromise reliability for the sake of gadgets, as then there is no point including them if they dont work! After all it is essentially a phone,. and if if it turns off constantly...well its not doing its job.

Dont get me wrong, its an excellent phone and im keeping mine....but it bemuses me how Nokia do SOOOO much testing and then Orange do SOOOO much testing and yet SOOOO many faults still!!!

Did they get homer simpson to do the testing!! lol. DOH!!!

Posted by swazi
im pretty happy with my phone but i have noticed some fault, for instance , i use a hbh-65 with my nokia 6230, and it often loses the bt connection, maybe its because im using a se headset with a nokia handset, ok and it has reset its self a couple times in the two months i have had it, but i had problems with all my phones so not complaining about that.
