hi, trying to find a quicker way of getting my mp3's to my phone than ifra red , any ideas, is bluetooth faster

If you want to for a p900 best job is a USB MSDUO card reader very quick and makes your MSDUO into a drive on your PC, (usually you buy a USB MS card reader and use the supplied adaptor from your MSDUO)
Otherwise BT isn't really much faster as it still uses the serial interface.

Use a mmc card reader.

No ,bluetooth is actually slower then Ir ! If you want speed use a USB card reader. Is about 10X faster.Bluetooth is very convenient. Ir is pretty much outdated.

BT is quicker than IR

Only in the domain of cellphones. In real world, IR is faster.

actually, they are the same speed since they are both forms of electromagnetic radiation - and therefore both travel at the speed of light. however, as a means of data transfer bt is faster.

I will agree with u on this point.

Gelfen - do a google search on Ir and Bt specs ! I am using both for almost 2y now. I love Bt. But Ir is faster .(ir max 2400kb/s bt max 720kb/s) last time i tested the transfer speed bt averieged 700kb/s Ir just over 1mb/s ! And this speeds where measured under 'best connection' condition. Both will have 10X less transfer speeds under 'minimum/worst connection' condition !

i did, and look what i found:
from http://www.cyberwalker.net/features/bluetooth-fall-00.html
"...(Bluetooth) uses a globally available, unlicensed radio band that supports data speeds of up to 720 kilobits per second (kbps)."
from http://www.clarinetsys.com/si[....]nce/Improve-IR-Performance.pdf
The Infrared Data Association (IrDA) has developed four transfer rate (“speed”) standards for shortrangeinfrared data transmission:
SIR* (Serial Infrared): 115.2Kbps, which is broadly adopted in mobile phones and many portable devices.
MIR (Medium Infrared): 1.152Mbps, which is rarely adopted.
FIR (Fast Infrared): 4Mbps, which is adopted in laptops and digital cameras and some Pocket PC PDAs.
VFIR (Very Fast Infrared): 16Mbps, which is supported by Windows XP.
so BT is quicker in mobile phones.

Ok thank you guys . But the problem is it takes me about 10 minutes to send a song to my phone. Should it be taking this long using ir . If so can anyone recommend a good mmc card reader, and what price it goes for
