Hi Phatel1,

I have the same T226 and DCU-11 cable. I am able to send photos to my phone. In the fma you need to uncheck the "Disable obex option" and check the "Disable IRMC Sync option" and start fma again. I mean you should NOT Disable OBEX but you should Disable IRMC Sync. After that you can send photos from computer to your phone but cannot send from phone to computer. Try it out

I have a K700i. I wanted to upgrade the firmware, so I bought a DCU-11 cable. Now I know I should have bought a DSS-25! Anyway, I downloaded FMA to play with, and this works fine with the IrDA connection, but plugging in the DCU-11 to the K700i causes the K700i to die. Nothing. Even disconnecting the cable doesn't bring the phone back to life. I have to remove the battery momentarily, the switch it on again. Any ideas?

btw, I use the K700i as a modem via bluetooth for my Ipaq H2210, if this is of any help/inspiration to anyone.

btw2, I bought my K700i from Vodafone and Vodafone unlocked it for me there and then. I was off to Spain and I wanted to get a local (Spanish) SIM whilst I was there. I didn't get a SIM in the end, so I don't know how unlocked it really is.

Hi !

I've got a DCU-11 cable and a SE T230

Obviously, I want to connect my phone to my PC to upload images and ringtones, and to edit the phonebook...

When I try to install the cable, I plug it in the USB port, and wait for the wizard to come... follow the normal steps, point to the location where I've got cable drivers (from SE website, prolific drivers, and others) and click to finish the installation...

in win98 and winME, it sets up one item under USB devices that reads DCU-11 Data Cable, and then opens a second window to install another device, and asks for drivers... I point to the same location as before, and begins to install... and suddenly, windows blue screen comes out.... error.... press ESC and windows comes back, and in device manager I can see a device marked with a red x or a yellow exclamation mark that says something like "USB to Serial adapter"... and this device won't work...windows cannot start this device...bla bla bla....

in Windows XP or 2003, it says "no suitable drivers could be found" or something like that, and doesn't install

so, I can't install the cable ... I've tried this in several PCs, and as you can read, in different versions of windows

I also tried to install it on a brand new windows installation, with nothing on, and got the same results

please, if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it very much...

if my english is somehow wrong, please forgive me, I'm not a natural english speaking person... but I did my homeworks though

thanks a lot !!!

Don't you have the cd that is bundled with the cable?
I don't know why it doesn't install your drivers---

Hi Estor,

I really appreciate what you are doing. I have a quesion for you. I have a sony ericsson T226. All your solutions for T230 are working for mine. I actually want to add new events from fma into my phone. I keep forgetting things very often so I want to use my phone as a reminder. You know how I can send events from the calendar in fma to my phone?

Thanks

Naresh.

You cannot, only bookmarks can be sent from PC (FMA)
Oh yeah, if you didn't notice, it is my tutorial (Don't mind that ESTOR )

If anybody cannot connect his T230 under any circumstances, then I advise getting a new one. Happened to mine...I realized that the phone is phucked up only when I was not able to connect handsfree accessories to my phone...I don't know, are the pins that are phucked up, or the phone...getting T290i tomorrow.

Totaly Dissapointed...

T290i is just T230 + external speaker + conference call + different themes, pics and sounds.

No calendar.
No Obex...therefore no Outlook Connectivity.

Everything else is just the same...

Oh yeah, and when using external speaker, phone first asks you, if you really want to use this feature, since it can damage your ears...and you have to do it every single time...like those noisy popups in windows ("Sure you wanna delete those viruses?")

Awesome phone.
You can simply use the same settings...

Maybe drivers are making "shit", sure there aren't any written especially for WIN98? Since I never installed anything SE related on Win98 I wouldn't know what could be wrong...try anything, and write back...maybe I find any suitable driver...

I don't think you need any drivers for the Serial Cable, but you have to enter right COM port settings in FMA indeed.

Thanks,

I tried about everything to connect. I think my cable is not working.
Could be that.

There is nothing to be set on the phone. Check you Hardware panel for port setting that your cable uses, and put them in FMA. Don't forget that 9600 bps setting!

I guess my cable is broken. I tried mostly everything. I'll by another cable.

Hi guys,

I want to use my T230 and the DCU-11 cable for GPRS only. The T200 drivers are downloaded but is that all I need? Because the software that came with the DCU-11, which is actually the oficial SE software is driving me nuts. It just won't connect with the phone.

I'm sure the phone and the cable are good cause floAt's Mobile Agent could connect with the T230 and even upload pics and songs. Also, the (oficial) software worked (difficult) with K500i so I think it's installed properly.

So, the questions are:

1. What software do I need for GPRS besides the T200 drivers ? (Not interested in uploading files, sending SMS/MMS or anything else)

2. If I have to use the "Mobile Networking Wizard" how do I get it to connect with the T230 ?

Posted by ingenus
You make a standard Dial-Up Internet Connection, and at the modem setup, you select SE T200 Serial Modem (or something like that). That's all. But GPRS settings must be obtained from you Mobile Service Provider.

Hy every one,

I have an Ericsson T290i with DCU-11 data cable, and i want to run AT comands on the phone.

I tried that. It says "Opening port.." and stays like that forever. Plus, what realy pisses me off, I have to reset my pc cause it won't re-start. I've tried many combinations with the settings, including the same settings used for the succesful k500 connection.

Like I said, T230 works with MobileFloatAgent, and it's also found in the modem query, so i guess I have a problem with the port and/or the way it's emulated.

Is there any other software that can create the dial up connection for me besides the one that came with the cable? Are Ericsson T39, T65 and T68 capable for GPRS?

Ingenius, or anyone else: can you tell me your exact settings for connecting to GPRS with T230?

I've tried these for the "Port Settings" in the USB Cable Properties:

BPS:9600, Data Bits: 6, Parity:Even, Stop Bits:1, Flow control:Xon/Xoff, Use FIFO (unchecked)

but I've also tried the defaults:

BPS:9600, Data Bits: 8, Parity:None, Stop Bits:1, Flow control:none, Use FIFO (unchecked)

And for the dial up connection:

Maximum speed:9600, Modem protocol:Analog RLP, Phone Number: *99***2# (where 2 is the CID for gprs, 1 is for MMS), Advanced Security settings, QoS Packet Scheduler installed...

Thanks a lot

Settings should be ok, only thing is maybe you set wrong COM Port in Modem setup...that "Opening port" shit usualy happens when wrong port is specified. Com Port must be the same that your cable has.

done that too:-) since i'm so desperate i would really appretiate if you tell me your exact settings for the COM (not just the com number) and for the dial up connection, like the ones I wrote.

Thanks for your time so far

For my T230 modem in hardware panel:
Maximum port speed: 9600
I used thoso T200 drivers.

For my DCU-11 USB cable in hardware panel:
Com port 6 (but this is for my computer, you can set any com port number in this cable setup)
Bits per second: 9600
Parity: None
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: none

Thats it for the settings.

Then in Dial Up connection:

Connect using T230 GPRS Modem (Com 6)
Phone number: *99#

Thats all. If this doesnt work, supposed that you also set com 6, then you you must have done a failure installing modem driver, or maybe your cable or even worse, your phone is phucked up. This happened to my T230 also. Couldn't connect it to internet nor FMA. But you said FMA works...so....I hope I was any help at all.

The cable doesn't like T230. It's called DCU-11 but It's not Sony Ericsson, the driver for it was not SE either. It works with K500 though so I gave it to a friend of mine and he gave me his cheaper and not so famous PL-2303. Now I'm a happy camper:-)

Thank you all

I finally managed to upload to my T290i with FMA, via the DCU-11 cable!

Thanks ever so much for everyone here contributing to the answer I needed. To anyone still having trouble, I can confirm the settings giving above: baudrate 9600, RTS Enabled, DTR Enabled, OBEX not disabled (do NOT choose Disable OBEX), IRMC Sync disabled.

If it still does not work (it did not for me), do NOT forget to restart the phone and restart FMA!

Note that you can use anything you have as an MP3-file as a call signal on your T290, if you convert it to AMR-format first using AMRconverter:
http://www.miksoft.net/mobileAMRconverter.htm
You can then upload it with FMA.

Hi all,
I had got a SE T290i phone. And i bought one DCU-11 usb cable also. The CD contains some utiliies and drivers. It's having drivers for T230, but not for T290i. So first i just tried with T230 Driver. But it's not useful. Not working properly. Then i went to the SE site and Downloaded a driver. Then as they said I unzipped it and from do the Add harware and pinted the location to the location of the inf file. But it's showing that the driver information is not correct and i am unable to install. I am using windows XP pro machine.
My questions are:
1)Where can i get the correcr driver for T290i
2)Whether i hav to download the softwares specific for T290i

Could someone tell me is there any circuitry between phone connector and usb connector of DCU-11 cable? Or there is only wires? I'm trying to connect my T290 to PC with self made cable. I need also the pins of phone connector which corresponds to usb pins.

Hi 2 all fo you...

I recently got Sony Ericsson T230, and I have a Data cable (not USB). The sign "ERI-T28" is written on it, I suppose it`s made for Ericsson T28 phone, but it fits onto my phone perfectly

I have a software for connecting mobile phone with computer - Sony Ericsson Image Editor, but when I connect my phone, open the program, and select T230, it says "No T230 series found". I enabled and reserved the port COM1, but it didn`t help...

Do I need other software? Or this cable cannot be used with this phone at all?

I'm currently using T230 and some cheap serial cable to connect PC to internet over GPRS. I don't use any modem driver: just followed guide
GSD_R600_GPRS_Dial_Up_Connection.pdf from www.sonyericsson.com. I needed some settings from my operator (Plus, Poland), but it was just user name/password (both 'internet') and dial number (*99***3#) if I remember well. Salute to these using 9600 baud for their patience (especially using internet connection) - I'm using max speed for serial cable (115,2kbaud), but phone seem to support up to 460,4kbaud (some USB cables should easily use it). All magic sits behind AT command: AT+IPR. Before playing with phone you just need to run HyperTerminal on serial port (COMx) the phone is connected to, configured for 9600baud, and to type "AT+IPR=115200" plus enter (make sure that no application is using that port, otherwise HyperTerminal will refuse to connect). From now on you can use 115,2kbaud settings in all applications, at least until you turn off the phone or it gets reset somehow (you should repeat IPR command then). I will look for a way to do this automatically, possibly using the script described in GSD_R600_GPRS_Dial_Up_Connection.pdf.
