Here in germany they are celebrating it on Saturday, when I will be in UK.
In UK they are celebrating it on Monday with a public holiday, when I will be back in Germany working
Posted by gelfen
we don't get a may day holiday.
Posted by stewie
Sorry to hear that guys :-(@gelfenWhere are you from dude?I think i saw that in your profile but since i dont have a comp for a long time now i forgot :-/Why dont you get this holiday?
Posted by gelfen
i'm in Australia. we don't get a may day holiday, but we do get Labour Day. however, the day of the holiday is decided by the state governments rather than being a national holiday. in Victoria, where i live, it's usually the second monday in March.

ill be spending it here in england recovering from a hangover no doubt. @masseur that is badtiming, unlucky

@masseur. working on a saturday?!?! im in london on sat, except i'll be in the cocktail bar down the road..

Think he said he'll be in london too mate
No Labour day for us at all
But to compensate we have a bank holiday tomorrow
Posted by masseur
@gelfen ...and october 4th is labour day for Sydney and Canberra
@batesie, no I don't work at the weekends. I work in germany monday to Friday and return to UK for the w/e so I am missing both holidays as germany and UK celebrate them on different days.
germany tends to celebrate holidays on the actual day rather than carry them forward to the next monday. The problem with this is that on Thursday May 20th we get "Christi Himmelfahrt" which I think is ascension day so I tend to also take the friday off making it a very short week (fly in monday morning and fly out wednesday afternoon)
then in June, on Thursday 10th we have "Fronleichnam" (no idea what that is) but only in certain regions (BW, BY, HE, NW) including the region I am in (BY) so thats another very short week.
I do wish they would make these holidays on the Friday or the Monday though

so you live in london at the weekends? whats annoying is my girlfriend has to work on monday, but my company is closed so i couldnt work even if i wanted to...

its Saturday...
Posted by Vlammetje
there is no such thing as moving ancient christian holidays
20th May is indeed ascension which is a bank holiday here too....so I took the following Friday AND Monday off

Got dragged to sunny Blackpool for my bank holiday weekend by my friends.
Everything was going really well until I bumped into my ex girlfriend who split from me little over a week ago arm in arm with her new boyfriend and her pagan group.
Good job I kept my temper in check otherwise I wouldnt have got home cos of a private meeting with the boys in blue.

Though it's already past May 1st . . . In Manila, the date fell on a Saturday, very unfortunate for the ordinary laborer - it should have been a non-working holiday (double - pay!). Just had an ordinary May 1st to celebrate, with less rallies happened in Manila's financial districts.
Posted by Sir-SonyEricsson-man
i got payed with 200 % for that day
Posted by Ayush
I worked on that day AND a Sunday!
Posted by Sir-SonyEricsson-man
and who much did you get?
Posted by Ayush
It was nothing like that specific. We all worked to meet a target. So we will be getting some incentive
