Hey, my old man needs a new phone. He's been using the Nokia 3310 for a few years now and liked it pretty much. He now needs a new phone and these are the only criteria:
-very simple and easy to use
-no cam
-no tiny buttons
-no fancy features
-excellent reception
Can anyone come with some suggestions! Brand does not matter but I think he would continue with Nokia.
Thanks!

What about the Nokia 3595? Even though its 2/5, and 8/0 buttons are together, they seem to be bigger than most phones. My sister has it on cingular, and she gets pretty good reception on it, usually a little better than my T616.

the simplest phone on the market right now is probably the nokia 1100.
it's really a very basic phone - not even colour screen. not really sure about keypad design for your father, but you should be able to figure it out.
you may want to consider the nokia 2100, or SE t105

I agree for 2100 and you may consider 3410.It has really great reception.

i have a q though, i have never seen any of those phones here, and i dont see them when i go into any of the phone shops, will they still work in the US? cuz i know we are totally messed up cellphone-wise

i would think a very low-end nokia would suit him best since it would be very similar in operation to what he is used to, and he may have difficulty adjusting to a different UI.

Nokia 3410 is similar to 3310,it has only few improvements. I just dont know will it work in the us. But i doubt it will :-(

@amagab, whats the reason for him needing a new phone? why not stay with one he likes?

here is a link to nokia usa
from the looks of things there i would suggest either the 1100, 2260 or 3395 (which looks identical to the 3310 and has hearing aid support, but has quite a few "advanced" features by comparison).
i think the 1100 is the winner, though (btw - it uses both 1900 and 850 bands)

Thanks for all suggestions and recommendations. He needs a new phone because the 3310 he has now is breaking down on him. I could get him another 3310 but I'd rather buy a new model. I will look into the phone you all have listed here.
Thanks again!

i got my 74yo grandparents an ericsson gh628! they think its great... classic kit.

A T68i would be pretty good. The text in the menus can be set to an extremely large font which makes it really easy to read. The best choice for older people in my view would be the Ericsson R520 which has a pretty large screen with great large buttons... sadly it's not produced anymore

well id say something that pretty strong , because at that age they are bit clumsy, no offence, just knowing my grand parent, what about a nokia 5100

R320 or 520. Big display and numbers, so usefull at dialling. Big keypad, great reception! I am not joking.

most of the time old people buy the lowest priced phones.
but from time to time i see old people that want to spend more and get a better one. i terms of screens and buttons.
and strangly the Z600 is the phone for them. the big screen is protected, good battery, good big screen, big buttons, and a good menu interface. so i think it would be better to give an 80year old such a phone
