This quarter Nokia presented another blow to its shareholders with some of the poorest results ever and another drop in marketshares. Nokia admits that clamshells and cameraphones from the competitive brands like Samsung and S//E are to blame for these results and have come up with a brilliant plan to regain marketshares from their competitors.
Nokia plan to launch 40 new high-tech phones during 2004 with dazzling features and lots of innovation.
One of these for release allready in Q2 2004 are the Nokia 6610i - an innovative update of the classic 6610 - which clearly show how technically advanced Nokia is in the 6th month of 2004 by sporting such high-tech innovative features as:
4096 colors 128x128 pixels COLOR screen
21 tones polyphonic ringtones
352x288 cif camera
Completely new colors
AND not to forget - ability to send MMS

Nokia will never beat SE, here in PL Nokia suffered a lot. More and more ppl chose sth like samsung,se,moto and other companies and leave their old, boring,crappy looking nokias.

The specs are just to laugh at yet they're posibly all gonna sell cuz they'll be considered and advertised as "cool" fashion phones

Latest I heard from Bloomberg News is that:
"Nokia will now sell more CHEAPER phones to regain market share"... They might still dominate the LOW END market but I don't expect them to release really good HIGH END ones and SMARTPHONES anymore because of this statement.
MARKET SHARE IS NOT EVERYTHING!
A lot of people may buy your phones but your profit margins may not be enough to produce quality earnings (not efficient), thus wasting the money of their investors.

It is still to early to write off Nokia. At least it realised what its shortcomings are.
Nokia realised it need clamshell design. And they came out with 7200. Personally, when I first saw the specs, I thought it is going to be flop. You know what. This model is selling like hotcakes. So Nokia still have it to know how to appeal to the "other" half of the population.
Not everyone buy phones based on capability. Some (and I stressed a quite a significant numbers) buy based on novelty and/or freshness in design.
