Two ongoing threads deals with peoples' personal photos done with their phones. I have seen occational cars, but I would like everyone with camera phones to post a photo of their car, with some basic info (model, make, year, etc.).

NB! Only mobile photos...

I'll start the show:

Volvo L3314N

This is my Volvo L3314N, made in 1966, 1,8 litre petrol engine, 75 HP (original 65, I have tuned it slightly). It is also known as Volvo Felt, Volvo Valp, Volvo Jeep and Volvo Laplander. You can't beat it off road!

Whats the story with the UK and Opel? Its the same car as the Vauxall, isn't it? Is it about the war or something?

It is the Vauxhall version (Cavalier). The Opel version is called the Vectra A. In Japan its called the Astra A
basically vaux and opel are the same company all brought by general motors who realease their products with different names worldwide.

i want to see sonyericssonman's car-the most famous bmw of norway!

lets hope he's seen this thread

Posted by buckle247
@staz, nice car mate, can't say i like the spoiler, but the rest of the car is looking good.

Vauxhall is just for cars released in the UK i think, whereas in the rest of europe they are called opels, they are almost exactly the same (some models may have diff engines?), but as said they are both owned by GM.

I will try to get pics of my Vaux up 2moro, way to dark now, esp for the t610's camera. car is near standard though apart from the ICE (stereo)

Posted by rencomp
Buckle247, you are right, UK=Vauxhall, EU=Opel, Australia=Holden. All GM and technical they are all the same..

Posted by buckle247
think holden is a bit diff though isn't it, most of their cars are bigger (sort of omega size) and have V8's, but technically still a Vaux.

Out of interest have you seen the new vaux monaro that has come from Holden, Got a 328bhp+ V8, and it looks pretty good aswell, but with a price tag of almost £30k, it isn't cheap.

Posted by Rookwise
i think the spoiler is ok. might paint it though as its currently bare aluminum.

got loads of pics of the new monaro in total vauxhall mag as well as other vaux's

Posted by rencomp
No, haven't seen it yet

but its worth all the money as you look at the spec, sounds good

i cant afford it.. i have a VW polo 1.6 will take a pic of it later..

Posted by buckle247
yeah i got the total vaux mag, the monaro on the poster is a beast, 600bhp.

The spoiler should look pretty cool if painted, but at the moment it looks a bit fast and furious wannabe, but everyone to their own tastes. You will no doubt think my mini vaux looks fairly gay.

EDIT: Lol, i have only just read the bit that said it was standard 3 weeks ago, you have achieved a lot in the time.
You also missed DTM mirrors off your description

@kristaga, what is that volvo like to drive, it looks like an APC. Prob one of the best vehicals i've seen to cope with what the roads must be like in sweeden, or are they well gritted to stop them becoming covered in snow and ice.

@Rencomp, In some ways it is worth the money, but then if you look at what other cars you could get for 30k, you will find that there is a lot more on offer.

you got a bubble (corsa) ?
or is it a nova ?
asking cos you said it was small.

Posted by buckle247
lol, bubble neva heard that before, always thought it was reffered to as a shed

Its a corsa, GSi spoiler with brake light, 14inch GSi 3 spoke alloys, M3 colour coded mirrors, sony md H/U, kenwood 17cm speakers in front door, 6*9 kenwoods on rear stealth shelf, with a 600w amp powering a sony xplod pentagon sub. And its arden Blue.

If only it had GSi performance, but unfortunatly it has a tiny 1.0 12v hair dryer under the bonnet.

the carbon fibre dtm mirrors had been replaced for carbon fibre m3 mirrors. dont think the new pics show them up that well.

Forgot to put on that there are JBL speakers front and back in mine, same size as standard but higher output. Think they are about 170 watt, not sure. Thinkin of a sub next. Want to lower it but the kit I want is £450 and will take around 3-4 hours to fit at £35 per hour from Demon Tweeks
Cant put anything on the parcel shelf cos it houses the head rests.

@staz, isn't there anyway to fit speakers onto the parcel shelf then, but if the car has speakers in the backdoor, you prob don't need them, being a corsa it had only tiny rear speakers to the side of the parcel shelf on my car so i needed to upgrade to 6*9s on the shelf to bring music to the rear, + add bass b4 i could afford my sub + amp.
What size are the wheels on you car?

here are some pics of my petrol car, not real one at the mo but my RC one will try to get pics of my car b4 i go to work, and post tonight.

Nice Scooby Rc. I got a ford focus Rally and a porker 911 with working lights. Are only battery powered though. .Preferred to spend me money on a bigger toy (me car).
The wheels are 15 inch TSW Fly. Dont think they are made anymore. Only saw them advertised for about 6 months. Have seen some chrome blue 5 spokes i like today.
The parcel shelf is from a Cav v6 and has a thicker underside to accomidate the headrest forks. I could get a stealth shelf but it sounds good enough as it is and i wouldnt be able to have the headrests in a stealth shelf, they dont make one to fit. the rear speakers are mounted in the rear shelf side pannels (15cm diameter i think). Have cut the underside of the plastic so they would fit.
Need to be careful cos of leaving my car on a public car park while i'm at work. Lots of cars get broken into there.

Forgot to say which phone the pics were taken with. Were taken with my liquid black T630.

[ This Message was edited by: Staz081277 on 2004-05-01 21:39 ]

Posted by buckle247
Yeah, got the stealth shelf so people couldn't see the speakers to reduce the chance of the car being broken into.

Any way here is my motor + H/U, car is 97 R reg, and pics taken with t610 (edited to remove reg number in photoshop, but didn't make any other changes to photo quality.

Nice.
Is that a Sony X-plod mini disc head unit i see ?

Posted by Bianca
@buckle: That car looks great

Posted by buckle247
it is indeed a xplod MD H/U.

Cheers bianca.

Don't plan on doing anything else to the car as i want rid, to get something a bit quicker, maybe another corsa as i do like them.

EDIT: Is no one else going to get pics of their cars up, only 3 people so far.

I don't have a car. I am lookin around for ideas which one to get as soon as i have my drivers license, but a peugeot or a corsa sounds good to me.

Posted by buckle247
yeah got a couple of mates with 106's and 306's. not bad cars, i was looking at getting a astra coupe as i can now afford the insurance, but can't afford the car without a loan, and being only 18 i really don't want a loan yet.

Posted by Bianca
I was talking about the peugeot 206 or even better 206 cc. But i have to save a lot to buy a car. At least you got one

Posted by buckle247
@bianca, how many people of your age can drive and have a car where you live. I know at my school most people who can drive have a car of some sort.

Posted by Bianca
Well i am 18 so i can get my license but i haven't even started but indeed not many people of my age have a license or a car. The license is pretty expensive already

Posted by Dj Boyi
My little bros Punto

Taken with my t610

Posted by buckle247
getting licence is fairly cheap in UK, it is paying for driving lessons and the test that is expensive.

In one of my lessons at 6th form there are 11 people and only 2? maybe 1 can't drive, and out of the 9/10 that can drive 9 have there own car, so a high propertion. Must be a fair bit more expensive or hard where you live, or people are just less interested in driving.

edit, nice car boyi, what about yours or has your little bro beaten you into the driving world

It is so expensive and not many people pass it the first time. I don't know why. Maybe i should get my license where you live

Posted by buckle247
lol, by the time you have spent enough time in UK to learn english rules etc and paid for the test, i'm sure it would be cheaper to do it in your country Total cost for a test in UK is around £60-£80 as test is £40, but then you have to pay £20 to use the car for an hour, and usually you pay £20 for an hours lesson before the test.

Explain the term "APC" for me.

It is very nice to drive, but is is no race car. Of course, it is not meant to be either. Maximum speed should be around 110 km/h, but is handles best around 70. 80 to 90 is no problem of course, but the fuel consumption rises very much when the speed exceeds 70.

The roads in Norway (and the rest of the Nordic countries) have asphalt (black-top) cover, but of course get covered in snow and ice during winter time. The snow is moved away, but a layer will always remain. So we use special winter tires with or without studs. On extreme conditions lorries and buses put on snow chains to increase traction.

My car can cope on most every road condition. I have driven in water up to the bumper (60 cm) while crossing/fording a river, and driven in 70 cm of old snow (partly floating on the snow). Fresh snow driving has almost no limit.

A photo I took of it the last summer (the first image captured with my T610 in fact):

An APC is an armoured personnal carrier, what the army would use to transport troops to and from the battle line.

looks like it is a bit of fun to drive, and not too much of a concern if you hit another car only joking.

Just to let anyone who might be interested know (uk members only)

The Cav is now up for sale due to me being tempted by a silver BMW 5 series. Dont want to put it on ebay as its too good for there.

If anyone is interested. Pm me for details and check out the pics on the first page of this thread.

Buyer must collect.

GM bought opel plus vauxhall along with other old british makes,it retained vauxhall's name to keep the 'britishness' of the brand for sales.holden do have some opel/vauxhall cars in oz such as the corsa but for the larger cars they have there own beasts

Posted by floke
@kristaga: I drove one of those Volvo Valp during military service. Really funny and rather easy to drive offroad. However, the fuel consumtion was horrendous

I'll post a pic of my car soon too

Posted by Rookwise
is nobody else going to show us their modes of transport ?

Posted by gelfen
i will once i get around to taking the shots.

the amount of misinformation about vaux/opel/holden is unbelievable.

Holden Australia use 3 opel models - Barina, Astra (all variants) and Vectra (and nowhere on earth are the astra and vectra names applied to different models, not even Japan). However, they are all completely reworked for aussie road conditions which are the harshest in the world. Suffice to say that generally the aussie versions are much improved over their european counterparts when tested in australia. Otherwise, Holden produce their own aussie-made vehicles. the most prominent of these is the Commodore (bigger than the Vectra with V6 and V8 variants), which is currently the number-one selling car in the country. Neither it, nor any other Holden, are based on existing Opel/Vaux models - although the original Holden Commodore was an amalgam of two opel vehicles.

The Holden Monaro, and a group of HSV (Holden Special Vehicles - very high end) cars are sold in the UK by Vaux, but are technically still Holdens, or were until recently. Back inthe 70s and early 80s the original Monaro was an Australian motoring icon. the current Monaro, developed only a few years ago, is also sold in the US as with a different grill as the new Pontiac GTO. Australian built Commodores are sold in the Middle East and elsewhere as Cadillacs.

i was mainly commenting on other people's posts (particularly the
"gm = opel/vaux/holden = all the same" misapprehension)

actually i don't drive any of them, and there's only a handful of models in the Holden/GM stable i would ever consider.

Posted by Rookwise
there does seem to be some people confused about the whole vaux/opel/holden/gm thing.

its good how a company like vauxhall went from making lawnmowers to being the manufacturer of some very reliable and nice looking cars.

it's a 2002-2003 Mazda 323 Protege SP20 (specs and other info on the Mazda Australia website)
