In reference to your question to Residentevil if Starbucks has a WiFi, the answer is yes according to their website is available throughout North America. Starbucks USA through T-Mobile Hotspot at T1 speed.

hey all,

im goin to boston for univ studies this fall. i just wanna ask if my p990i will work in that area and, whats the best carrier as far as signal and 3g coverage is concerned?

im coming from the Philippines btw.

thanks !

I'm headed to Boston for school too. What uni you going to? I've been using my P990 on TMO since the phone was released. I was in Boston 2 weeks ago and did not have a problem with coverage. 3G, what's that? (j/k) There are wi-fi networks EVERYWHERE. After September 1 you should not have a problem finding a wi-fi network as more than 250,000 students will be in the area. If you are in the Newbury Street area, there is free wi-fi access. I think Brookline has free wi-fi access too. I'll have to hop on the c-line once I move up and report on that. Hope this helps

I took the plunge and bought the iStone. You want it? It makes a lovely paperweight! I passed the at&t store on my way home and there were only 3 people in the queue so I decided to be number 4. I figured I could sell it but Apple decided to actually make enough of them (unlike my laptop I've been waiting on for 2 weeks) so I'll return it one day next week.

@himomer

im goin to Northeastern. Is it nice there too? I've only seen it in photos. I hope tmob is goin to release its 2100mhz band soon. cant live w/o 3g and vid call. but wifi is ok , i guess... planning to switch to htc to get triband wcdma.

Indeed!

@goldenapple

That's a great school. I haven't been on campus there, but if the other universities in the area are any indication, I would expect it to be quite nice. Plus you've got Fenway Park, Longwood Medical and Academic Area(Harvard Med/Dental, Emmanuel College, etc), and Boston University nearby. You've got easy access to multiple 'T' lines which is a definite plus considering the NEU's urban location. I think you will enjoy the school and the city.

@Res

Have you tried Hot-Spot@Home? I'm thinking about adding it and waiting for the P1i. I have this feeling that the $9.99/mo price will not last too much longer.

do you guys have accessible Sony Ericsson and/or HTC stores there in the states (boston area)? Are the products up-to-date with the SE US website?

I have no idea about HTC, but the only sony store that sells sony phones unlocked is the Sony Style store, but they usually only have 1 phone in my experience. Last december out of all of their phones released, they only had the W810 with zero accessories for that phone or any other SE phone line. If you want a selection of unlocked SE phones you are going to have to find a phone import shop.

Posted by Miss UK
LOL but it's funny

What do you lot think about David and Vicktoria Beckham
moving over there?

btw is the Samsung D900i out in America?

Posted by himomer
@goldenapple

No, there are not any that I know of. I usually buy my SE mobiles on eBay. I think the SEUS site sells a few, but the devices are probably limited and expensive. The majority of mobile users in the US buy devices from their respective carrier at a discount. The mobiles are locked, branded, and usually have a reduced feature-set. T-mobile is the least restrictive when it comes to disabling functions, while Verizon is the most restrictive.

You still thinking about replacing your SE with HTC?

Posted by himomer
@miss uk

So you find Americans doing what they love funny eh? J/K! I usually catch the audition phase of American Idol for some humor.

I'm curious to see how long it takes Hollywood to corrupt the Beckhams. I think Vic has a show starting soon if it hasn't already...

Posted by Miss UK
Yeah it's funny due to the acts some are bloody idiots,
and you gotta love Piers the Brit Judge lmao!!!

I read that Paris Hilton was trying to get chummie with Posh,
Posh told her more or less Bog Off

Posh seems very clueless yep I saw that Show it was on lastnight,
reminds me of the Osbournes and Kate & Pete Baby diarys lol aka Jordon & Peter andre

I'll have to see if it comes on again this weekend. I like the Brits, they make me laugh. I'm a Law & Order fan. I watch at least 4 episodes a day.

Posted by goldenapple
@himomer

that's depressing.....the only reason im moving to htc is for a quadband gsm and triband umts (although the latter is optional) . SE doesnt have a quadband pdaphone. unless the 850mhz isnt that important. is it? if im just going to stay in my campus at boston, will t-mobile's 1900 band suffice? this is getting too difficult.

Posted by Marino
@goldenapple

try this link, or this link for HTC phones.

Likewise you chaps me laugh too
I really would like to visit NYC but it'll have to wait asked my friend if he'd pay for me and him to visit next month unfortunatley he made a pc which cost £800 lol

I watch Supernatural and other stuff upto date with 4400 have to download them because the riff btw Sky and Virgin lols

Posted by himomer
@goldenapple

I'm not sure that I understand what you are trying to do. There really isn't a need for quadband GSM if you use T-Mobile unless you just must have it. T-Mobile offers 850mhz roaming in areas where service was previously not offered. These are usually rural areas I believe. Major metropolitan areas like Boston are generally covered by T-Mobile and 850mhz roaming is not offered. I have used SE triband phones for 4 years now and have been with T-Mobile for 6 or 7 years and haven't had a problem with coverage. I bought a Blackberry on eBay when T-Mobile started offering 850mhz roaming just in case I am ever in an area that is roaming only. I haven't had to use it for that purpose yet. Check out www.tmobile.com/coverage and use zipcode 02134. That will give you a good idea of T-Mobiles coverage in Boston. The NEU area has great coverage according to the map. I think you'll be fine with triband GSM in Boston. If you plan to venture out, just check the coverage and if you need 850mhz you can find a cheap quadband phone. If it were me, I'd get a quadband phone when I sign up for service just have one and switch back to my preferred device. T-Mobiles 850 coverage is Voice/GPRS/SMS only so you won't need an advanced device. Hope this helps. Living in Boston will get expensive fast so save the money you would've spent on the HTC, it should cover that impromptu trip to New York (trust me, there will be one).

@miss uk

Good thing about coming here is that you'll feel like everything is discounted 50%! That's major eh?

@miss uk

Come to deep south where our accents are almost as long as our summers. For £275/mo ($550) you could BUY a house, quite a nice one at that. $80,000 can get you a huge 4br/2a house or you could build a decent sized 3br/2ba. Just imagine, you could sleep with your doors unlocked, buy a riding lawn mower, drink homemade lemonade while you watch the neighborhood kids run through your immaculately kept flower garden, and hear "I love your accent" at least 8 times a day.

What could be better??????

Posted by himomer
So it looks like the P1i is now available on eBay for $759. If anyone gets one, let us know how you like it.

Posted by Miss UK
Himover don't you think im tempted?
ive heard houses are cheaper by the dozen in America which is true saw this program in the week about this couple who were looking for a holiday home and for £32,000 you could buy something that ressembles Little house on the prairie lmao!

prices of houses in the UK are riddiculous you couldn't buy a house for that much lol
