I agree, coverage of the worldcup could be a lot better.

miss uk...
Why don't we talk about the weather then! I'm spending July and part of August in London, care to give me a heads-up on weather trends during those months?
Oh yeah and you know we can't let you sneak that little comment in without having some fun with you don't you. People use both terms, but yes "cell phone" is the most prevalent. What type of network does a mobile phone connect to? A cellular network . We love have you all call a cars hood and trunk a bonnet and boot. btw, I'm just having some fun with you please don't take offense to it

Ive been waiting nearly a whole yr for the P990i and to this point I know it's out s'posedley soon but I think it seems a lil outdated now,
but I will see one of the guys at work is buying one so I will have a look at it but tbh I ain't to big on "Bricks" anymore

SE have got nothing that appeals to me anymore I don't like the Menu's of the D750i's either

I took something different and went for the Samsung D600,
it's agreat Mobee it does everything I need it to and it does take good shot's when you know how to use it propaly

I mean some muppets on this forum have it 1 day take a pic say it crap then f00k it off thats so surreal, if you intend to buy a phone you have to use it to the max then judge it afterwards

BTW: Im trying to avoid the Soccer aswell as Big Bro there like some virus thats around alot at the mo, I wont watch the match but I don't mind hearing the score at the end of the day

How hot is it where you boys are then?
I think today it's approx 27 C, it windy which makes it cooler

Ive never been to London since I was a lil enn I can't really remember much about it, hopefully I will go at somepoint,
My Mums bloke lives there and I think my friend wants me to try and get down there to meet her in November when she comes over from Germany

But I don't know tbh cos ive got alot in the next few months to do im going to Germany in August to see her btw then September my sis is getting married

I bet you will be upgrading your Mobile wont cha?
all the yanks seem to come over for new phones lol

or to slag off us cos we haven't got some pewny thing instock which they have in the U.S.A

Many yanks visit here you can't go anywhere w/o bumping into one,
no offence you know there around cos there bloomin loud

Next yr I think i'll go to NYC im looking forward to go into a shop and hear you lot shout exscuse me madame where can I find these "Pants" I rec that will be hilarious

We have so many terms of words that are different to u guys btw it's just funny at the end of it

rite well sleep well and enjoi your weekend guys

Ps, are there any wimmin about in here?! or is it just a boys pad he!he!

It was about 99F/37C yesterday, and it will only get warmer and more humid It was so hot that part of one of the interstates buckled and caused a UPS truck and trailer to end up on its side.

No, I won't be upgrading while I am there. I may buy a P990i before I leave if it is ever released. More than likely I will just wait until I return home in mid-August to buy one. I don't do the small phone thing, smallest thing I've ever owned was a T68. Love my Z800 for its bulkiness, and at 6'5", it fits me.

Yeah, we do have some loud ones. It's funny at times, but mostly annoying. Especially when you are shopping or in a library and someone just insists on using their "outside voice". Ringers are another story, people seem to think that their ringer must be set at the highest volume or they will miss a call.

What gets me is Bluetooth. I understand its usefulness for some people while driving, and I fully understand its use in the workplace, but why on the street? Is it that hard to hold a phone and walk?

Yes, I am American, I just have a few issues with some of our ways.

Would you help me out?

I've been looking at the various pre-paid options online, but don't quite understand how things are done in Europe. In the U.S. you would just buy a sim and a refill card that comes in various increments of minutes and talk until the minutes run out then buy a new refill card. Say 1000 minutes for $50(£25) and talk until the minutes are gone.

I am assuming a 2:1 exchange rate for simplicity 2USD=1GBP.

With my current monthly pay plan from T-Mobile, I get 1000 minutes w/free nights and weekends, and 1000 text for $56 (£28). However, any call I make/recieve will cost $1(50p) so my included minutes really don't matter. Text messages would be $0.35 (18p) each way.

It is going to be cheaper for anyone in the States to call me than for me to call them, but I still want a reasonably priced option to not only call the States but to also make calls while in London and when I travel. I understand the whole buying a new SIM in each country, but what carrier should I go with if I do so? Any other suggestions?

When you come here let me know, and i'll pop u enn in the post
ive got enuff since o2 have all them freebie promotions

btw if you yankys are fed-up opf waiting for phones to come out overthere have you not thought of asking any people on this forum that are in the Uk to get phones and ship them to you???

Just a thought ennit

I could do that for you no prob,
just gotta find out the shipping to USA situation would be

QUALCOMM announced that on Friday, June 9, 2006, it filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that Nokia Corporation and Nokia Inc. have engaged in unfair trade practices by the importation and sale of certain mobile telephone handsets, wireless communication devices and components that infringe one or more claims of six QUALCOMM patents.

QUALCOMM has requested that the ITC institute an investigation into Nokia's infringing imports and ultimately issue an Exclusion Order to bar importation of those Nokia handsets and other products. QUALCOMM also seeks a Cease and Desist Order to bar further sales of infringing Nokia products that have already been imported and to halt the marketing, advertising, demonstration, warehousing of inventory for distribution and use of such imported products in the United States. The accused products include handsets for use in GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks.

QUALCOMM expects that the ITC investigation will commence in July and that the case will be tried in the first half of next year.

On November 4, 2005, QUALCOMM filed suit against Nokia Corporation and Nokia Inc. in federal court in San Diego for infringement of 11 of QUALCOMM's patents and one patent owned by SnapTrack. QUALCOMM's lawsuit alleges infringement of patents that are essential for the manufacture or use of equipment that complies with the GSM, GPRS and EDGE cellular standards (the GSM family of standards). Three of the patents included in QUALCOMM's ITC complaint are also being asserted in the San Diego litigation.

QUALCOMM has also sued Nokia for patent infringement in the United Kingdom. That lawsuit, commenced on May 24, 2006, alleges that Nokia's sales of products which are capable of operating in accordance with the GPRS and/or EDGE standards infringe two of QUALCOMM's patents in the U.K.

QUALCOMM has offered to license its essential patents for Nokia's GSM/GPRS/EDGE products under terms that are fair, reasonable and free from unfair discrimination. Nokia has refused this offer and continued to sell infringing products around the world, leaving QUALCOMM no choice but to enforce its patent rights through legal proceedings.

As disclosed by both parties, Nokia's obligations to pay royalties to Qualcomm under the current license agreement will expire on April 9, 2007. Nokia and Qualcomm are in active negotiations to extend, or replace, the current agreements.

Thanks for the info miss uk. It'd be great if you could just send one to the US for me

And...I was awake, just buried in a textbook. Don't get to use my computer much Mon-Wed, school keeps me pretty busy. BTW if you can get mobiles for less than some folks sell them on eBay I'd be glad to do business with you.

@ Himowner,

*Hint someone sort it for me lmao*

btw what phone you after?

Theres like phone shops in every direction over here and some do have sales including the expensive ones like Carphonewarehouse

@ Resident,

Yeh I love chocolate,
German chocolate is my favourite as you know lol

never tried chocolate from America funnily enough

Posted by Residentevil
miss uk. You did not miss anything. American Chocolate is awful.

Posted by Miss UK
Really? my mates mum went to NYC last yr and brought back these Muffins the were choc chip they were nice but I thought the cho tasted a bit odd on emm as there were healthy eating enns...

I need to sample a totally Chocolate choccy bar from the usa
to judge lol

Posted by himomer
Haha, free sim? I wish! I think T-mobile charges $15, but I'm not sure.

I want a P990i but my guess is that I will be in London when it is released. Hopefully I will get to try one out while I'm there. Don't plan on getting one though until I return to the states.

We don't have phone shops in my area. There was a store on Canal Street in New Orleans that had a few phones but nothing special.

The best chocolate I've had is either flown in from Europe or made by Europeans living here. Res is right, our chocolate is awful. However I have had truffles from a place in my hometown that were very good.

T-Mobile America are thick as planks lol
I asked them 1 simple question once and they couldn't even give me a answer re-directed me back to the UK enn !

Btw if American sims work outta da country can they be topped up in other countries to? I would like some advice regarding this, UK PAYG sims work abroad so do US enns

My fav chocc's are RITTER SPORT from Germany,

Int keen on Cadburys (Brits choccys) that much, but will eat it if I gotta

@ miss uk

do you mean ROAMING?

Posted by Marino
High tech avenue… Here comes Blu-ray.

Posted by Miss UK
Yes

Posted by Marino
My experience with my carrier of Roaming outside the country, what I did was I notify them one week before my departure. I give them the date & time to the country of my destination, some few questions, asking you if your cell phone is tri-band, then 24 hrs before my flight I got a confirmation. Sure enough, as soon as I arrive to the airport of destination my roaming connection is up and running. I’m able make & received calls, its just the roaming charge is too much, if I remember correctly it’s $2.50/minute.

I end-up buying a SIM card (in the country of destination) much cheaper than using your roaming connection.

Some country (like Philippines) you don’t need an operator assistance to activate your Roaming, just a matter of several keystrokes, then turn OFF your cell phone. When you arrive to the country of destination just simply turn ON the unit, wait for the Roaming logo and you’re connected!

lol after reading all that you've freeked me owt
I wonder how much o2 are gunna charge me when I go to Germany then!

I don't make international calls on my mobile to blooming much I think networks over ere need to get the call charges down abit £1 per min is to much, texts are 16p which int bad tho,

Im thinking of changing my tariff one ive been on for the 6 yrs, is ok free 100mins calls, 600 free texts and unlim wap..

but I cant send/recieve MMS nor ave GPRS nor will 3g work which is crap,
I wish networks could do tariffs to suit us tbh! lols

I want everything ive mentioned for £20 pm hehe

Posted by himomer
@ miss uk

I think a UK PAYG sim will work here. If you manage your account online you should be able to enable international roaming or just give o2 a call. I met a lady last year that was using an o2 PAYG sim, she used my computer to get the phone number to top up outside of UK. Whether or not it worked I don't know but my guess is that it did.

Watch out Italy here we come!

Posted by Residentevil
I recommend the same. A sim you would buy in the country you are vacationing. You get a local number and most of your calls are local anyway.

Posted by Miss UK
the prob is I need it just to use upoc

with o2 PAYG you can top it up using a out of the UK no. it tells you that on the website, I don't know if you can top it online tho

btw with my MOBILE WORLD sim (cheap international calls abroad) it can be top't up online

I think I may take this one on hol with me im not liking the fact that im getting chrged for ppl to call me with my o2 enn when I go on hols

Posted by Residentevil
That is a disadvantage, when you have too many friends.

Posted by Miss UK
lol all my friends are busy most of the time but I prob get a call of my mom whilst im out there lmao

Posted by Residentevil
You and your mom are really close it seems.

Posted by Miss UK
