There are lots of cool Nokia's and other phones, why are you sticking with an SE?

Just wondering. My personal reason is because I have put too much time, effort and money into it. I have unlocking kits for them, and have spent lots of time on themes and ringers for them.

Also, I can't have themes on other brands of phones!!!

I love my SE, it treats me right! Why do you love yours?

Ethan

All my family have SE and i have a lot of accesories for SE.

Cool nokia? LMAO. Anyways, i like se better overall.

Posted by leo_asb
im a NOKIA user before. they are good phones though but the one thing i hate about them is that they easily get DEVALUED unlike Sony Ericsson phones. SE has more class than the competitors.

I will admit that I was one of the first people who felt that since the merger, SE designs haven't been the greatest out there... with the P900 and T610 being the only 2 models that could even come close to the classic Ericsson designs.

And I also admit that design is one of the key elements in why I switched to Ericsson way back in 1996, and I've stuck with them ever since. But mind you, I said one of the elements not THE ONLY element. Design is important to me... but it comes second to technology. Features come in as the 3rd element I consider. (Yes, features and technology are 2 totally different elements)

Nokia's last cool looking phone for me was the 8110.. it's successors don't count since only minor changes were made since... so yes, I do think the 8910 looks cool. But 'looks' is where it all ends. I'd say it was like having a REAL dumb-blonde. (Mind you, not all blondes are dumb...and not all dumb people are blonde)

If I had to choose between SE and Nokia, SE wins hands down. Without even blinking an eye. BUT... the new Siemens line-up has caught me eye, and they may not have the technology or features of SE... they do offer a great compromise between design and technology. I'm looking at the new M65 to replace my Ericsson R310. And unless SE shows the successor of the P900, with a much slimmer profile (under 22mm) ... I am considering the S65 vs. the K700. Yes, the K700 does have better tech, but the S65 does look sleeker. And only sacrifices the screen for it...but makes up for it with expandable memory. I'm not too fond of Sony's MS Duo (or MS for that matter) ... it's too slow and too small. Sony should've just stuck to manufacturing and marketing improvements in SE ...not design and technology.

I'm still happy with my P800... I'm still thinking about the P900 upgrade being that it looks better, and has a better screen.

Back to your question on why not Nokia? Well, cuz it's a Nokia! If all you want is a 'cool' looking phone, then buy a Nokia dummy phone, tie a string to one end, and the other end to a can. Give the can to your friend... and you've basically got a fully working Nokia right there... except this one has better battery life than the real thing!

Smart people use SE, dumb people use Nokia...

...as per my observation.

PS there are no "cool nokias"

Posted by Dj Boyi
Its obvious! You can do so much more with a Sony Ericsson. :-)

SE RULES NOKIA DROOLS:-) where can i buy nokia ngage? Lol

Posted by s40convert
'cause I'd have to buy at least 3 different N****s to do all things my T610 can do...
Only prob I have with the T610 is, that everyone seems to have one now

Funny, I don't mind seeing a lot of people with SE phones... whether it's all P800, P900, T610, etc... it's just nice seeing the little green ball all over the place.

I've had four /// and now SE. And I was always satisfied. Nokia's are foolproof/idiotensicher phones for stupid teenage children

Posted by stuartdb87
@Ethan Nokia have started to put themes on their new fones, but thats not the point. Iv always had either an /// or an SE. I had a Nokia 6600 for two weeks and got bored me it.

Posted by Spinz
i bought my first nokia 3310 and after that whichever nokia i looked at had the same interface. I used nokia 6610 and it was like using the 3310 again. Nothing NEW even though i bought the new phone.

So u got my point. SE are constantly changing the UI for something better. even they changed the K700 (as it looks from the keys i.e the vibrator, lock functions) key function layout even though the T610 was a great success

So with SE every time u buy a new phone u feel like using one.

Also the price of SE is better compared to NOKIA if u compare the features of both.

Just use SE and u'll find the difference

Posted by Ivan Kusturin
I like design, functions, user interface on SE phones. I dont think I'll ever buy a phone from some other brand. And no,I will not write that SE RULES!!!

Posted by rdnymllnsktr
Oh, I didn't realize Nokia's were getting themes. Seems like Nokia wants to be more like SONY Ericsson. I saw a Nokia 6820 the other day, and it was so trying to be an SE. The menu could be viewed as a grid, and it had bluetooth, IR and more SE features.

Posted by Vlammetje
It's called progress

I'd stick to for as long as the phones suit my needs. I am no big brand supporter, I buy what's right for me. Of course.... it helps that I have a few accessories

Posted by bahraini
its called revalotion...
most of the things which we see these days
came from sony ericsson,,,
they became the leader of mobiles technology.
for sure they want to make profit , but at least
they gave me something worths the price i pay...

I keep to se mostly because of /// . As long they will follow the way in constructive ideas, userfriendly menu and logical handling of the use and amazing features as well. Hope the support of se will grow to the high and present us the same level as /// did. Wish to see se helpdesk all around the world!

Cheers boba!!! :-D

Posted by BobaFett
One more sentence. In case se wont fit my taste, hard to believe and i hope it will, i see neonode as alternative choice.

Posted by Vlammetje
i see neonode as a stillborn

Nokias are crap! Unlike se wer u could find all features n 1 fon. Se acc can be used on all se phones coz their connectors are universal to all & old ericsson fons. For nokias u need 2 use a certain handsfree for a particular model.

Posted by imanuk
Natural Selection:

SE provide all the features in a neat package that doesn't look like a Fisher Price Toy phone *cough* 7700.

@jowi yeap, its a great thing to use hpr20 or other se accesoires with 320 or 520 etc

nokia's problem is that they don't evolve, they stay with the same stuff, but bring it out alot on diffirent designs. making more designs=attracting more people. some only want desing and when there's alot to chose from there's alot of chance that nokia wins.
but really come on, why do people buy nokia? or they dumb or stuvern to try other brands? is belgium (nokia's best market 69%) under and alian influence?
come on anybody who compairs them can se SE wins, i'm not saying this is abig /// or SE fan, but its true, even the most objective reviews show time after time that SE is the best. so come on nokia people there's not shame comming to SE, our arms are open for all of you!

People like what they are used to. If your first phone is a nokia, then your more likely to go for a nokia cos your used to the menu structure, how everything works etc etc

I've had many people not like my T630 cos its too hard to use. It's not a case of them being dumb, they just aren't used to it. But cos i've used (Sony)Ericsson phones since the T28 came out, im used to how they all work.

And then theres the whole features thing. Most people don't use all the features on thier phones. Whats the point buying a phone rammed full of features that your never gonna use? Theres no point switching to an advanced sonyericsson phone if all you need is sat right there in your Nokia 6100.

Posted by BobaFett
Thats exactly the point @bart ppl buy nokia coz ebody use it, the look of a fone can make ppl blind. Most ppl use their fones to make some calls, send sms or mms. The real secret of /// was in the past and will be of se in the future to put much more features in well designed fones and present them how many usefull and constractive ways are to use a fone else than the basic things mentioned above.

Posted by slattery69
@bobafett you ve hit the nail on the head people buy nokia s as they do the basics well. The majority of phone users make calls send sms and mms and nokia do this very well . Se phones tend to be more high tech which means they have a smaller market of potential buyers i like se cause of this not the brand name but the things there phones allow me to do

Posted by BobaFett
So it is, but hopefully the minority will grow in the next future. Se shoudnt fight against nokia, more to impress the ppl and win them as users.

Posted by lazarini
Hmm its for me all the way im basicli inlove with the brand for the reasons many of the lads stated already in replyes above so im not about to repeat .

P.S. my work phone witch has been given to me by my boss is a nokia do its an 6310i witch isent such a bad phone good connectivity and exspecialy the talk and standby times are great on that unit .

regards laz

SE has a lot of accessories

Posted by BobaFett
Accesoires are evidences of good and logical support for a fone. For fun and use aswell. /// was a leader in this case and se has recognized its important meaning as well.

Posted by t68iNWO
I've stuck with /// and SE because the technology is always above the rest, the feature sets are uncomparable with other phones, and the value for an /// or SE outlives the competition. Hell, the T28 still goes for 50 to 70 USD!! Some NEW nokias go for that price and the T28 is several years old! Nokia sucks, they market to idiots, just like AOL.

Posted by mitze
In my opinion they have less bugs.

Posted by BobaFett
And if they had or have the new fw upgrade fix them, so i can use my fone years long. No need to launch fones every month, just to impress ppl and make them feel to be forced change their fones.

Best voice, excellant receive, marvelous battery, sofisticated technology. Accessories are splendid.

Posted by BobaFett
If we follow here on this way, se can have make a slogen of their new commercial ;-)

I fell in love with Ericsson models such as T10 especially T28. Unfortunately my first phone was Alcatel Easy DB, but after few months I replaced that crap with Ericsson T18. This one served me well for over a year and half. It even fell in the water and didn't broke, didn't malfunction. I only dried it off and it worked perfectly! This experience convinced me that Ericsson makes tough, stylish and elegant phones.

T28 I bought as used phone, only fault I could say about it is that it had a bit slow software, but it was the smallest and the thinnest phone I ever had, even than the one I own now. I dropped it for thousand of times and nothing happened to it. Lovely I sold it to my brother after a year of use, when I bought brand new SE T300 with MCA25.

T300 is not perhaps the most beautiful phone I could have chosen, but it has it all I needed at the moment. And it's the best price/quality phone you could imagine. I love it, really.

Anyway, my next phone will be either T630 or K700, depending on the price.

I will never get Nokia. They're fancy and I hate that. They are expensive and I hate that. They are crap and I hate that. Compared to any SE in the same class you'll find that Nokia phones are: more expensive than SE, have less functions than SE and are uglier than SE.

So, I end my post here - I'd rather be shot than I should use Nokia. Never, never, never. Long live SE.

Thank you and goodbye.

Think thd last poser is nnt the only one here with the fact, that /// users are now se users. It would be interesting to hear an opinion of sy, who never used ///, but se was her/his first fone or switched to se from another brand.

offtopic: looks like most people fell in love with /// with there T28 and T68 (so did i )

I've had my z600 since November and I've been very happy with it. I've had nokias and although they were good phones I was fed ur with the sameness of them all. I wanted to try something different, I also wanted a clamshell. My o2 contract offered z600 for £50, not really knowing much about SE. H've made a good choice. I love the phone. It's perfect :-D

Posted by BobaFett
What is the most important feature for u like in z600 compared with nokia?

Posted by Elrond
A felt in love with , when I bought my T300. That time it offered the best features compared to it's price and was better thet some phones with higher price. And it's still a great phone. That can you only give /// and .

I think SONY phones were also pretty cool and advanced for their time. However, I tend to think that most people switched to SE from /// - via T68 -> T68i or T28.

Posted by Elrond
I switched from /// GA-318 -> Motorola V2288 -> Panasonic GD67 -> T300+MCA25

'Cool Nokias'? by cool do you mean stupid designs which were obviously drawn by a 'art noovo' artist. They are all shit designs

Posted by 50Cent
"cool Nokia"
is a bit of a oxymoron. and for those of you that dont know what it means.....

Oxymoron
noun [C]
two words used together which have, or seem to have, opposite meanings.

and here i was thinking english lessons were a waste of time!

Wow! So many opinions! Well, just saying one more thing (hope I don't get flamed), I started out with a Motorola as my first Pay As You Go, then got a Samsung. Finally, near the end of my time with SprintPCS, I got a Nokia 3585i. I was so excited because I was one of those (as you guys say) "Stupid Young Teens".

However, my buddy was a fan of SE, and had a T68i. I loved his phone, as it allowed for more profiles than my phone. It also told how long the phone had in stand by and for talk time (they removed this from the T616! ) It also had bluetooth and IR! This would allow for wireless headsets! (Mind you all, I didn't know about Bluejacking then).

Well, my Sanyo 4900 (big awful clunker!) ended up breaking, so I ordered a Nokia 6200 for myself, and a 6800 for my wife. Mine had EDGE, and was tiny. My wife's was that flip out keyboard phone for texting.

Well, I eventually got the T68i (two of them) unlocked off of E-Bay. I then wanted the T616 when I saw it (!), but was very mad to see that I just bought the T68i's, and they "came out" with those (I know they didn't just release them, but I just noticed them. My own stupidity, but still, )

Well, I ended up getting these ones. I keep telling Camilla (my wife) that "these phones will be the last ones that I need", but other phones always catch my eye! Right now I'm eyeing the T637 and the K700. I don't think that I really need the T637, but the K700 does have 32MB of memory!!! Just think of how many themes and games that could hold!!! (I'm not much for having my phone play music for me)

I'm trying to convince myself that I can stay with the T616 for alot longer. I mean come on! What else do I need? It's got Bluetooth, IR, polyphonic ringtones, 65k color screen, games, and WAP, seriously, what else is there? I got the radio attachment, and can get the MP3 Player if I want, I've got everything that I need now. (Sides, I'm a college student, I'm not made of money!!!)

By the way, I just wanted to add one thing. I IM alot, via text messaging, and when I'm talking to a PC, I usually switch to a Nokia, cause on that, everything is almost instant. I still don't understand what causes the slowdown in an SE? Oh well. And hey, I do love SE! I just have tolerance for other phones!

Ethan
