It will be nice to see the Turks, Serbs, Croats, and eventually the Albanians on board too!

@djordje1yu - I get the feeling you're not exactly a big fan of Albanians!! I don't know the exact ins and outs of the conflict in Serbia in the 90s, but weren't the Serbs 'ethnically cleansing' all Albanian Moslems by killing them, burning their villages, raping their women and putting them in nazi style concentration camps? I imagine they weren't exactly a big fan of the serbs back then either!! As I say, I'm not an authority on these subjects, so please correct me if I'm wrong (a frequent occurence!)

Anyway, that was a LONG time ago now, neither side can be described as squeaky clean, so let's leave bygones as bygones, as Boto43 said!

That story is only make up for West World..... I used to live on Kosovo. Since Josip Broz Tito's death, things became to change around here..... Now I am in Belegrade, whit my family. Because of situation in 80's, I knew that some shits are going to happen around here, and I bought a flat here in Belgrade. Now Kosovo has 85% Albanians, and 15% of Serbs..... There was NEVER, and I repeat NEVER any cleenigs of Albanians down there! Albanians in a top of America's authority maked up that! Now we lost Kosovo, and it seems that Kosovo won't be enough for them. They allready started crossin Kosovo border toward Serbia......

@djordje1yu, I am with sammy on this one. As much as you may have suffered during the war/conflict, so have the muslims (think srebrenica just another dark day from that episode) but it doesn't do anybody any good to dweel on the very sentiments that CAUSED the war in the first place.

[sounding like an old fart] I have seen this with my grandfather, he was first jailed and then send to a work camp by the Germans during WWII, he was an army officer but he never got over the war, he hated all germans to the bone and it's destroyed much of his later joys in life. he fervently loved the beach but there hasn't been a beach without Germans in our country for many decades. Moral of my story: the strength to go comes from being able to let go of the hatred, not dwelling on it. [/spunding like an old fart]

personally I am wildly scared of people who are too busy pointing out that their perceived enemy is pure evil to see that thy will have to live with them and work with them for a long time to come.

Albanians are your neighbours and like it or not, many of them have been killed too and many of them have reason to hate too.

One personal question here: do you have something against Muslims?

By the way do you know there are Serbian muslims too?

@Boto43 Tako je brate! Svi Sloveni su braca! Rusi, Ukrajinci, Poljaci, Slovaci, Cesi, Slovenci, Srbi, Hrvati, Makedonci.

We are all the same tribe!

No I don't have anything against Muslims! I go to my holiday in Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Siria.... But, no offense, I don't like their religion, I mean what is religion that have holy war.
I know there are Serbian muslims. They live in Bosnia and Hercegovina! In civil war we were on opposit sides, Croatians, Muslim Serbs, and Ortodox Serbs. We couldn't drop off like Slovakia and Czech republic!

Posted by boto43
Yeah, but we will never agree with disintegration of Czechoslovakia. One day we will unite again.I was born in Czecoslovakia, educated and hope I will die in Czechoslovakia. Rozumies mi.

Posted by djordje1yu

I am not proud about these things, but they are facts! Now I can't talk anymore about bad memories...... Let's please change subject!

Posted by djordje1yu

@Boto43 Razumem te. Kad bi mi bili civilizovani kao vi.... I just wish that we are civilazed like you!

Every religion has their own form of holy wars. The roman church has done it for centuries.

In Ireland people still fight eachother with one hand on the very same Bible.

no one religion is better than another coz in the end it all comes down to the human interpretation and we are all as bad as the next guy.

So change of subject, what are the hopes of the eastern european countries when joining the EU? What do you want and what do you expect will change?

Posted by djordje1yu

I don't know. But looks like we are gonna enter EU the last!
I just hope that the standard will go better, and I'm hopeing that I could travel around whole EU without shengen visas! I cant remember when was the last time I went to some EU countries (exept Greece)! Now, when I want to go to EU, I need to stand in a line in front of embassy for about whole day to get a specimen for visa. Then a whole day to give specimen. Than abou two weeks to see am I going to get visa or not. And even when I get it I need to pay a lot, and again a whole day to receve it.......
Very discomfort! Isn't it???

Posted by boto43
I understand Serbian,no problem to me.It's very close language to my language, but we have to speak English here. Why do you think that you're not civilized nation.I wouldn't say so. I think someone in use your hot heads to break out the wars.

Posted by djordje1yu

That is true Boto43, that is true.... I was talking about that!
Now it's better! We are friends whit Croatians, and with muslim Serbs in Bosnia. I am even planing to go on Croatian sea this summer!

I'm going to Dubrovnik ( I don't know english name) this saturday.Next year I would like to go to Montenegro.Have you ever been to the seaside of Montenegro? How does it look there.

Posted by djordje1yu

I didn't like Montenegro a last few years, but I went last year, and it was apsolutly fantastic! I am strongly suggesting that you go to Montenegro (Serbian: Crna Gora)! But not anywhere: Go to Herceg Novi, or Budva- there are most beautiful beaches, and the best places to go out night. Lots of good girls, and of course Montenegro beer!

Anyone know a good translation programme?

@boto - you say your're going to Croatia for your holidays - you'll have to let me know how it is there! I've seen a few things on holidays in Croatia - it looks very nice there, I'm thinking of a holiday there myself at some stage in the not too distant future.

Posted by boto43
@ sammy, yesterday we had a test of understanding of languages - serbian, slovak. I can say the test was successful, we understood each to other. I am very sorry for that. Yes, Croat's seaside is very nice. Especially the area around Dubrovnik. That will be my second holiday in Croatia. That means first time I was happy there. Next year I'd like to go to Montegro ( czerna gora - in serbian means something like Black mountain).

@boto - not a problem matey! Sounds like a lot of languages in eastern and south eastern Europe are quite similar - I don't think there are any languages that similar to English - although it's origins are Germanic and it takes bits from all kinds of different languages.

Yes, you'll have to let us know how your holiday went, best places to visit, etc. Sounds like the coastal parts of Serbia may be nice too and an up and coming holiday destination!

Posted by djordje1yu

@sammy Serbia is most beautiful country on whole Balcan, even it has no sea. I recommend you visit mountains Kopaonik, Zlatibor and Tara, also you must visit Vojvodina (Serbian part of Panon lowland)(especially Carska Bara-a morass with unbelievable nature and animals). We have very attractive village turist. You must also visit lakes: Perucac, in bottom of mountain Tara, than Palic, near Serbian-Hungarian border, and of course if you are staying in Belgrade, you must visit Ada Ciganlija, lake on river Sava. That lake is called sea of Belgrade, and also have nice beaches, it is very clean, lots of beautiful Belgrade women, and lots of restaurants and caffe bars.
Those are my suggestions, you choose.

It's a pity you haven't been on "Convocation of buglers" in Guca. It is a unique happening in whole World. Something like that doesn't exist anywhere else. There is madness, buglers are playing national songs, lots of dancing, lots of beer, lots of food, lots of chicks..... Absolutely madness! If you want to forget about all problems and to totally unhook, Guca is the place! Next year it will be at same time this year (from 1st till 8th august).
