T610 Vibrate problem

Im having a problem with my T610. When i turn it off, it begins to vibrate. It doesn't stop vibrating until you turn it back on again. It also vibrates slowly when it's on charge. I have contacted SE and they've told me to phone an 0870 number. Has anybody else had to phone an 0870 number for a problem with their phone?
Anybody else had this problem?
Many thanks,

Weird, never heard of it.whats dat nr u wrote?

Posted by masseur
its probably the beginning of the UK support number 08705 237 237

Posted by nabraxas
Yep, that's the number.
Suppose i better ring them. Think they'll be there on saturday? lol
It's a weird problem though, people are intrigued by it.
"Wow, it's vibrating. Yet its off "

Posted by nabraxas
argh. This is so annoying.
If i wanted to have problems with my phone i would have bought a Nokia.

Posted by BobaFett
@nabraxas good argument ;-) but what happened? Did u call se?

Posted by nabraxas
I'll call them at the weekend, if they're there. If not i'll have to phone them while im at college or something.
It's a weird problem, cant see it being software myself. Done master reset. And the problem stops for a while if you tap the top of it. Then if you tap the bottom it starts vibrating again. Weird.
btw, anybody having probs with O2 GPRS?

Hmmm, you say that it stops when you tap the top of it? I think that it would be best to have it sent off to a service center. This sounds like a problem with the circuitry, or, if you are into doing things yourself, take the phone apart, and figure out what the deal is.

@nab i c. However good luck, inform us what happened, good luck ;-)

Posted by nabraxas
I sure will. I feel confident opening it myself, just don't want to void my warranty. So i'll ring them and have it sent off.
I'll let you know the outcome.
Cheers

Update:
Phoned SE today. Asked me the normal questions...tried taking the battery out, tried resetting. Yep. Gave the woman my postcode and there are no service centres around my area. So, the end product is i'm having to send my phone off to Telford now.
Just hope it gets there alright.
Wish me luck...
Best Wishes

Ok, sorry I didn't reply for a long time.
The story so far. Sent my phone off to Celestica in Telford and they recieved it on Monday 10th May, Got it back today, 8 days later all repaired. Didn't come back from Telford, it came from Hays technology centre. But it's completely repaired and with the latest software version.

Great news :-D

Anybody have any idea what the last 2 numbers of the IMEI number mean? Mine's changed, used to be 13, now it's 21.

As far as I know and understand it each mobile phone has an individual and unique IMEI code/number. It seems as if you've got yourself a new phone actually.

For further information, have a look at International Numbering Plans - IMEI Number Analysis, and especially International Numbering Plans - Numbering plans guide - IMEI (SV): International Mobile Equipment Identity (and Software Version).

I see. It's the same case and the rest of the IMEI number is the same. So I guess they've just replaced the circuit board and kept my case etc.

The last numbers are for software versions. When you update there numbers change.

Posted by nabraxas
Yeah, according to that site it's the phone version. Went from 1.3 to 2.1. Another thing, does anybody know if the charge counter resets when you flash the firmware, because it's now at 0?

Posted by nabraxas
We have an update. 2:00am the phone decided it would like to vibrate yet again. Now I'm extremelely p****d off!

Posted by djmetsandy
now thats harsh!!!

Posted by djmetsandy
actually i was thinking yesterday maybe its ur alarm...ok i dnt no much about the T610 coz i just got it a week ago but it says alarm can go off even wen phone is off, does the alarm make the fone vibrate?

Posted by bico
Yes, the alarm makes the SE T610 vibrate.

Posted by nabraxas
It's not the alarm, as even when the alarm is off it does it constantly. One thing I can't work out is that it vibrates quicker and slower with the angle you old the phone at. I've decided to take matters into my own hands now, but Im having trouble finding a T610 Vibrator motor, if anybody knows where I can get one of these from then I would be willing to try it...
Many Thanks

It's not the motor which is causing it to vibrate because I've tried another motor in it. Im stuck for ideas now. Unless it's the software, but I dont want to spend £30 on a flash cable if it's not the software.

you can order one from www.nymax.nu (swedish site)

Another update for you. I borrowed a vibra-motor from another phone and it did the same thing, so it's not the motor. Would, by any chance, it be the software?
In detail this is what happens. Every time you turn the phone off it will constantly vibrate, but only slowly, not full speed. It's noticable, but it's not moving at full speed. Whilst the phone is on it will sometimes vibrate even slower, but you can hear it when you're using the phone. At the moment I've disconnected the vibra-motor and living without the vibrate function (Either I have that, or constant vibrate).
What I want to know is...Could the software be telling the vibra-motor to vibrate slowly even whilst the phone isn't on? When the firmware was flashed last time it didn't vibrate until I put the phone on charge, and then the problem reappeared. Anybody think it could be software?
Long post, sorry.
Many Thanks,
Ash

@nabraxas: About Could the software be telling the vibra-motor to vibrate slowly even whilst the phone isn't on?: Yes, it can. When used by the alarm- and remindernotifications functionality it can be set to work even when the phone is off. But, unfortunately, I don't know anything about the vibrate slowly thing... .

@bico: Thanks, Im in two minds whether to buy a terminator dongle and reflash it myself. It did stop vibrating for a while until I put it on charge and the problem came back. At the moment Im using it with the vibra-motor contacts cut off so it don't vibrate at all. Might get a terminator dongle, can always resell it if it doesn't work.
Many Thanks all who have helped. Much appreciated.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but...
I still have my T610 and it still constantly vibrates, does anybody think reflashing the firmware will sort the problem because, as my previous post explains, the SE engineers had flashed the phone with a new version and it wasn't vibrating when I received it back until I put it on charge, then the vibrate problem came back...
So, anybody think reflashing the T610 will sort the problem out?
Many thanks,
Ash

@ nabraxas

It is possible. I had a problem whereby my T610 wouldn't switch on. Although this seemed like a physical fault, it turned out to be corrupt software. So as I say, it's possible.

Sorry if this has already been tried, but have you given a master reset a try?

Do you have a terminator dongle?

Posted by nabraxas
I've tried a master reset and that didn't solve it, I don't have a terminator dongle but if I think it would fix the problem I will buy one. At the moment I've blocked the connection between the motor and circuit board with a piece of paper so it doesn't vibrate at all at the moment.

Posted by Sebby
It's difficult to say really. I wouldn't like to say buy a terminator dongle. The thing is, if it was a software problem, then it should have gone seeing as updated the software. It shouldn't have returned, so it's more likely hardware IMO.
