Hey
I'm looking to upgrade to a Motorola v500 from a Siemens M55, but I've read in a review that the phone only stores SMS messages on the SIM - is this right? I get unlimited texts so this is mostly what I do, but only being able to store 20 is pathetic at best.
Cheers
Tim

The V600 is sim only memory, so I take it the V500 is the same.
Future firmware upgrades may address this problem.

Do you think that's likely? I can imagine Motorola getting a few complaints because of this 'feature'

Got this reply of Motorola:
-------------------------
Dear Customer
Thank you for contacting Motorola.
Unfortunately text messages can indeed not be stored in the phone memory.
An average of 10 to 20 messages can be stored on the SIM used in this
device.
For any further assistance or information please do not hesitate to
contact us again, quoting your reference number.

Even the old Nokia 7110 (launched in 1999) can store 150+ SMS's on the phone memory and more on the SIM

I've read somewhere about 'Flexing'. Does this mean it'll change use some of the phone's memory for text messages?

Flexing is just like flashing. I don't think it can change it to use Phone memory for sms. But this is not the best forum for information on Moto phones.

my v525 (flashed v600) holds about 35.
i reckon its still sim card memory after flex/flash - phone memory is 10% full.

My old Motorola V66 was able to store 15 on the phone and a further 15 on the sim card
