What is Bluetooth Against Bush?
Bluetooth Against Bush uses bluetooth enabled devices to create moments of ad-hoc solidarity for people opposed to George W. Bush and his disastrous policies.
That's great! How do I participate?
Its really easy!
more info at:
http://www.bluetoothagainstbush.com/
Find your bluetooth device settings
Name your device "Bluetooth Against Bush"
Set your device to be "discoverable" by other devices
Who can participate in Bluetooth Against Bush?
Anyone with a bluetooth enabled device can participate.
Why should I participate?
Simply because its fun!
Its a subtle way to show your solidarity with the anti-Bush movement and discover people in your immediate vicinity who feel the same way. When you are in a crowded area, you can use your bluetooth enabled device to scan for other bluetooth devices. If you find other devices named "Bluetooth Against Bush," then you know other participants are within 15 ft. of you!
How many people are doing this?
There's no way to know for sure. If you like the idea and want to participate, send an email to info@bluetoothagainstbush.com and let us know.
Why are you against Bush?
Well, here's One Thousand Reasons.
What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a wireless protocol for creating Personal Area Networks. Its range is approximately 15 ft., and its speed is comparable to USB. Many cell phones, PDA's, laptop computers, and other devices now include bluetooth.
How do I know if my phone/PDA/laptop has Bluetooth?
Check the following links to see if your device is on the list.
Mobile phone
PDA
Laptop Computer
Hey, "Bluetooth Against Bush" doesn't fit in my device name settings! Do you have any other name suggestions?
Some devices don't support enough characters in their bluetooth device name for the entire text. In that case, its time to get creative. Try these on for size:
Blu2th Against Bush
B2th Against Bush
Blu2th Vs. Bush
How do I discover other Bluetooth Against Bush participants?
Go to your bluetooth connection settings and choose "scan for devices" or "new paired device." Your device will then search for other discoverable bluetooth devices. If other Bluetooth Against Bush participants are within range the search will return a list of devices named "Bluetooth Against Bush."
If I find another Bluetooth Against Bush participant, can I send them a text message?
Before you can send messages or share files via bluetooth, your device must first submit a request to "pair" with the other device. This will require you to create a short security code. When the other person enters this security code, your devices are "paired" and may communicate with each other.
Do I have to go through the whole pairing procedure every time I want to communicate with another bluetooth device?
Once a device is "paired," you may set it as a "favorite." If two devices set each other as "favorite" they can communicate without having to pair again.

Cool! I like but the US is lacking bluetooth phones. Either our services are not willing to provide them or the people much rather go for the cheap free phones. infact i believe we only have about 2 -5 bluetooth phones availible to us here in US.
-T610
-T630
-nokia 3650
And the other two are just a guess. Other than that, you wont get much more.
Also Esato i think has alot of Europeans as well.
But i will try to spread the word at my school!
Great Idea Again

I just hope that George W. Bush wins the 2004 Presidential Election this coming November

Even if he does win somehow.I feel that he might rig the elections somehow..Millions like me will still hate him and continue the support for his removal to the very end.

He may look like a goon, actually I guess he was - stupid at times with his decisions . . . But speaking of removing him from office, that will be quite far from anybody's American mind

Yeh i agree jojo on those points...I'll tell u what if he starts showing even handedness towards all evil doers and countries. And stop these double standards, and go set up a seperate and sovereign country for the palestinians.invade north korea to get rid of there real and exsisting wmd's.I would be the first to put my hands up and support him.But we all know that gonna happen.I think we are all aware of his agenda now.and if he does win in november(God Forbid)i hope he gets impeached and humilated and gets thrown out of office..I just want to see this murderer tried for his crimes.he has the blood of 10.000 dead iraqi's on his hands.that accounts to genocide.

@axxxr - Just a point of argument here mate, As you have said, Bush killed 10K Iraqis during it's invasion - the number that huge, I don't believe
So how are you now mate? . . . . Take Care
Posted by axxxr
JoJo mate!..What do u mean by the 10,000 killed in iraq and u dont believe that figure..Its a proven fact that the number killed by U.S attacks is 10,000.Its all on the record.weather u believe it or not is entirely your choice its does'nt change the facts..wot saddam did to his own ppl was obviously not acceptable. But who made g.w.bush judge, jury & executioner?.Iraq was a soveriegn country under saddam and no one had any rights to invade and kill innocents the way saddam did..Saddam was also killing his own ppl when iraq was having a war against Iran and the U.S was supplying all the arms to him..Where do u think all those weapons came from in the 8 year war against iran in the 1980's/..In which 1 million ppl died ..i did'nt hear america telling iraq to stop!!..The fact is when saddam was co-operating with american he was a friend regardless of what he did to his own ppl..Its when he stopped playing ball that the U.S wanted to put him down!..And by way the HELLO 2500 ppl died in the 9/11 attacks not 5000..get your facts straight first..And Hello its been proven by the 9/11 commission that saddam had no links with al-qaida and osama bin laden..The trial of saddam is only partially held by the iraqi's..i dont believe in this fake sovereignty which they have given to them..Iraq will be sovereign when all the illegle occupieing forces have left iraq!..Im absolutely fine now jojo!..Are u?...and u take aswell.

@axxxr - Yup! Just like that when the US armed the militants in Afghanistan in the 80's, to fight the occupying Russians - Cold War ! Also with that of Vietnam War in the 70's, wherein the war did not came to a conclusion, many were speculating that the war in Iraq will have similar effects and results when the US invaded Vitenam - but they were all wrong

Hello all. Quickly - I'm a Republican with Libertarian tendencies. Now that we have my biases clearly listed I'd like to address "a proven fact" or two that seem to be floating around in here.
- : How many Iraqis have died due to US attacks?
- : How many people died on 9/11?
- : Is Al-Qaida linked to Saddam's Iraq?

10k Dead Iraqis - killed by U.S. Attacks? Well - not necessarily true. Let's look up iriqbodycount.net. As you can see - even in this presumably anti-Bush administration site the high death toll is 13,213 (as of the time I posted). But the low is 11,252. "But Patrick - this proves it's over 10k" you say! Look closer. The site includes deaths attributed to terrorists like car bombings and heads being cut off as well as drowning and other health related issues. You'd have to be unreasonable to think that "U.S. Attacks" killed over 10k if you include all types of deaths over more than a year's time. I don't want to minimize any death - but let's put responsibility where it belongs.
FACT: The Iraqi Death count due to the U.S. Invasion/Occupation is unknown.
2,500 Dead in 9/11? Talk about minimizing deaths ... According to CNN we're at 2,752 deaths as a direct result of terrorist attack. What happened to the other 252 people there axxxr? Let's not forget people just because it is politically expedient. And one should not admonish others for incorrect "facts" until they get their own correct, don't you think?
FACT: 2,752 people (mostly innocent civilians) intentionally targeted and slaughtered by terrorists on 9/11.
No link between Al-Qaida and Saddam's Iraq? Maybe ... Here's the facts: Even though the actual report hasn't been released, The 9/11 Commission found "no credible evidence" of a link between Iraq and al Qaeda. The 9/11 Commission did not state that links between Saddam and terrorism and/or Al-Qaida have been proven conclusively false and never existed at all. Big difference. And in the aftermath of 9/11 decisions had to be made. I point you to Univision for an article which puts a few views next to each other for your consideration.
So, YOU have to make a choice. All your intelligence is saying there are WMD programs and strong indications to links with Al-Qaida (and proven links to other terrorist organizations). Saddam had attempted to assonate our head of state (perhaps a forgivable offence to Democrats because the target was Republican and the father of the current hated president) and continued to disregard UN demands to live up to his post Gulf-War obligations for over a decade. Hind site is 20/20 people! Ideologically it's easy to say Bush made the wrong choice, however, in the real world I'd rather err on the side of our national security.
FACT: Saddam had links to terrorism and Al-Zarqawi (Nick Berg's pro-Al-Qaida beheader) - if not to Al-Qaida directly.

Once again I have to disagree with axxxr. The real world is fraught with double-standards. We have to pick our battles and use our resources as wisely as we can. We may disagree on how wisely they have been used - but if you were to say to me, "Do everything or do Nothing - else you're a hypocrite!" well - we'd go nowhere sitting on our hands while those who would do what they can get what they want.
And I call you on this one Axxxr - even if Bush did everything you've said you'd like him to do - it is my sincere belief that you'd still like to see him in a mental institution after being impeached. Your writings have convinced me of your unalterable opinion of Bush.

If any country can be assigned blame for supplying / training Al Qaeda it would be the USA not Iraq.
USA supplied weapons to the resistance in Afghanistan when the soviets tried to invade. Who do you think got the leftovers when Soviets left. I'm pretty sure they didnt send them back.
Posted by axxxr
Liam your absolutely right!..It was the CIA who trained Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan to fight against the soviets..when america needed osama they used him and his people.of course they supplied them with all the lastest weapons which never went back..America created the monsters we have in this world today..and they have not learnt any lessons from the past and continuing with there policys which is creating more terrorism for which we have to pay the price.

Just thought you needed a bit of support there, i'm sick of all these neo-conservatives in America trying to play the innocent bystander.
Got to say one of their biggest double standards is over their weapons of mass destruction. Has anybody noticed that Israel is one of the only known nuclear countries in the world which repeatedly refuses to let in the weapons inspectors.
And yet its Iran we keep chasing?
Posted by axxxr
Again liam i could'nt agree with you more..thanx for your support..Don't know where to even begin with Israel, that damm country has broken so many U.N resolutions the worlds lost count..and everyone know that they have the most nukes in the middle east yet they continue to deny there exsistence..i mean who are they trying to fool?..Majority of the worlds terrorist problems are due to Israel. If america wants peace in the world the Palestinians must have there occupied lands back period..I just do not trust the intentions of the u.s in dealing with the problems of the world..Like scotsboy said here yesterday that america needs an equal rival to stand against it.and wish the u.k could have its empire back!..wow would'nt that be great!

No? Ah, this isn't what I expected. It seemed like most here wanted a good debate. Hey, you never know, I might not be able to defend my position! But someone should at least challenge me, yes?
It's okay - I'm polite. I don't use vulgarity. And really, one must admit, I'm probably a tad bit better worded than many who post here. Or are the liberals afraid to verbally spar with an educated neo-con?
Hey - will any of you defend your position with someone who actually disagrees with you? Even if Axxxr won't - don't worry - maybe we can learn something from each other. Or - If you're absolutely sure you're correct and I'm all wrong - then maybe you'll have the opportunity to change one US citizen's vote from Bush to something more to your liking. I promise I'll consider all points.
Won't someone help this ignorant stupid Republican?

Bluetooth Against Bush is a non-profit effort to build anti-Bush support by encouraging people to name their bluetooth devices with the title of the site and then set them on "discoverable" -- thereby allowing likeminded folks to link up during the various intersections of their day.

Hi Patrick, welcome!
I'm intrugued to know why you support Bush, as every time me (and most people in countries around the world!) want to punch the TV every time that guy appears on it.
Not wanting to threadjack this thread, I suggest we continue to debate in the 'George W Bush's CV' thread - I don't think @axxxr will be pleased to have us debating in this bluetooth against bush thread!
I warn you though - I have a tendency to type before thinking sometimes, and don't have to time to be quite as well-researched as some do on this subject, but I will give it my best shot to change your mind!
So, bring it on!

Couple Arrested After Wearing Anti-Bush T-Shirts
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Charleston City Council has apologized to two protesters jailed for wearing anti-Bush T-shirts to the president's July Fourth rally.
Nicole and Jeff Rank -- of Corpus Christi, Texas -- were removed from the event in restraints.
They were arrested after revealing T-shirts with President Bush's name crossed out on the front and the words "Love America, Hate Bush" on the back.Trespassing charges were dismissed last week.
Monday, the Charleston City Council adopted a resolution to apologize.
The resolution said the two did nothing more than "peaceably exercise their right of free speech."Trespassing charges were dropped after a judge determined that city ordinances do not apply to Statehouse grounds.

Hello Sammy! I deal with things best one at a time so forgive me as I break each item down into digestible parts.
First off I'd like to ask why you want to punch the TV? Don't you think that's a bit of irrational behavior? If not - I'm curious to know why. Also - are you sure that "most people in countries around the world" react the same way you do? If so, how did you learn that fact?
Why do I support Bush? Even as a Republican, I have to admit, it isn't as much support for Bush as it is my support of free-market capitalism and dislike of socialism. As mentioned earlier - I have Libertarian tendencies.
Reasons I'm happy with Bush:
- He is a Republican
- He is in favor of reduced taxes
- He may not be liked, but if he says he will do something, people believe him
Reasons I'm unhappy with Bush:
- He presides over the largest US Federal deficit and doesn't show signs of curbing spending
- He has voiced support for amending the US Constitution in order to win a cultural issue
- He hasn't, in my opinion, effectively communicated the consequences of loosing the "War on Terror"
Please note - these lists are not intended to be exhaustive in any way

I warn you though - I have a tendency to type before thinking sometimes, and don't have to time to be quite as well-researched as some do on this subject, but I will give it my best shot to change your mind! |
When people of deep religious convictions approach me and attempt to convert me to their faith - I do not resent them. I just look at it from this perspective: If they truly believe what they say they believe then it is perfectly natural and reasonable that they should be out trying to spread the "truth". To do less (not try to tell others) would be a bit selfish, don't you think? So that is why I engage people in conversation. We are all here proselytizing our view. However, Sammy, I will promise you one thing. Unlike the many who seem to only shout their mantra and refuse to even listen to, much less consider, a differing opinion -- I will take your opinion and either disagree (with reasons), agree (with reasons), or tell you I need to learn more about it. I believe we both will grow and learn from this exchange.

Actually - This is the subject that lead me to this thread and forum. I heard about this and wanted to learn more. Isn't it great? I think this is a wonderful idea. People using technology to express their political opinions and find other like minded people. Ingenious. I love the United States. Besides most European countries - where else is there so open a dialog about contentious political issues allowed without the routine outbreak of bloodshed and government oppression?
Posted by Liam
Does anyone here remember the story of a small nation called vietnam. Where some of its citizens tried to have a debate about contentious issues such as whether or not to be communists. Strange how when the government tried to oppress them another country joined in.
No prizes for guessing which!

Excellent questions Liam.
Fist I can see a correlation between cutting taxes and a large deficit - however when faced with a large deficit there are several ways to respond. I happen to favor the lower taxes and lower spending approach. I feel the lower taxes help to spur the economy (private and business sectors). I feel reduced spending helps to invigorate the private economic sector that doesn't have to deal with as much governmental interference and/or competition as well as limits what government can do (like wage war on little countries all over the world).
About Israel and the U.N. ... this one is much more complicated than simple economic principles. Diplomacy isn't my strong point - however I feel that the opinion of the world community is important but not the end-all-be-all to how countries should or can act. I'm not denying that Israel has enraged the UN and defied many UN resolutions in the past. I doubt it will follow all future UN guidance. The fact is, when you have the Big Gorilla (read USA) as your friend - you can get away with not having to play ball by your enemies rules. And I have to point out that some of the resolutions that have been passed by the UN regarding Israel are seriously lopsided. I happen to be of the opinion that the UN isn't the repository of all truth and purity. (I'm not sure what governing body is) ... That said, it is my opinion that nations should and will continue to operate in their best interests - regardless of the UN. There is plenty of room for clarification and further discussion on this issue. I'd be happy to learn more - be exposed to more information - and debate more.

Surely it would be in a countries best interest to go round the world kidnapping people and then using them as slave labour, after all that way goods would be a lot cheaper. Maybe they should go round invading resurce rich areas. Or maybe they should continually ignore enviromental issues or agreements (Kyoto - anyone?).
We all now that this is not how countries should act in the world. There are instances where action should not be taken in your own best interests but as a review of the whole. That way attrocities could be avoided.
I'm not trying to blame the US for everything, don't get me wrong i'm disgusted at the current state of affairs in the International Whaleing Convention (or whatever you call it). The main problem I have with the US is its lack of consistency. Where was the US in Rwanda or why arent they sending troops to the Darfur region of Sudan?
I believe if a country is going to interfer in the governance of others then it should do all the time or none of the time. Not just when it is in its own best interests.
