Posted by Miss UK
Think Siemens brought the 1st colour phone out! May of been the S25 I think :-)

Posted by syscrash
The first ever colour phone is the ericsson t68

Posted by BobaFett
actually @miss uk is right, but it had only 3 or 4 text colours, blue, red green and maybe sg else.

Posted by harvey172

@masseur thx thats it!

I thought it was the t68 :-(

Posted by Dj Boyi
And the 1st MMS phone was the...................t68i ;-)

Posted by masseur
are you sure? I vaguely recall the MMS upgrade being available for teh T68 before the T68i was available, but I am happy to be told I am wrong

Posted by Dj Boyi
Im not sure myself mate,i just presumed it was,but im thinking 'officially'. :-)

Posted by djpowelly
I thought the first WAP fone was the Trium Geo or Galaxy or something like that...

Posted by Gang
I think it was siemens s25,4 colour on screen

Posted by mmsman
well yeah ok but i don't think you can call the s25 a colour phone i mean my friend had it and in my opinion four colours isn't really a colour screen......
even t68 is nothing if you compare it with 16 million colours on a pc monitor.....
but you can have "normal pics" of cars flowers etc while with s25 that wasn't possible......
i remember that i showed my t68 once to a friend i think it was december just when it came out and i said to him : look i have a colour phone and he replied that's nothing new because he had a s25, but the wow effect that was visible on his face was awesome!
i mean he couldn't believe it!
and in my opinion t68 is the "real" colour phone because it's the only phone that has ever produce a !WOW! with only a screen, none phone did that not even t610 or 6600 with 65k screens.....
so t68 first!

Posted by Dj Boyi
@mmsman,i totally agree with what u say about being able to view a pěc to call it a 'colour' phone :-)

Posted by djpowelly
Yes im with you! Did the T68 ever come in Black and White? Its only, my T-Mobile MMS advertising booklet shows that if you send a MMS to a non MMS phone (the eg used in the pic is a T68) then it sends a txt message telling you where you can see it.. Ill maybe post the pic 2moz so you all can see it...

Actually, the first colour phone was the SL 10 , sandwich type from Siemens , not the S25.The S25 was the 2nd , with the same screen but a bit smaller.

Posted by Dj Boyi
I just realised, nokia do a 16 million colour phone,in fact they are all 16 million colours

sl10 - it looks quite neat - I didn't know that the idea of that kind of phone (which is opened like the siemens sl55, nokia 7650 and some of the japanese phone) was so old

Edit: I accidently didn't finished the sentence

i thought gur T68 too:-(

Colored fone - I thought it was the Nokia 9210. But seeing that Siemens, it sure gets the hell out of me, really can't believe my eyes that a fone like that existed before . . .

Posted by GANT
Siemens S4 was the first one.

Posted by thedoc
In case on one has mentioned it i think the first full colour phone ie more than 4 was one by trium aka mitsubishi i may be wrong though

Posted by gforce23
I am not too sure whether it was a S10 or a SL10.

Posted by 701
Ok, ok once and for all, the first ones in 1998 were the S11, then the S10, then the SL10, then the S25.

Posted by fannypad
Talking of pseudo-colour Siemens phones, there was definitely one with such a screen before the SL10.

I cannot remember what it was named, but it did exist a while before the SL10. A friend of mine had it before the SL10 was released.

Posted by 701
@fannypad:just read my previous comment on that...above urs

Posted by waja800
First colour phone IMO - SE T68. I had the Siemens S25, and seriously I think it does not qualify as a colour screen phone.

Posted by heslegrave.dk
history channel - nice

Posted by 701
@waja: I am glad Siemens didn't share ur ideea of a colour screen. If u look it up, a colour screen is a colour screen even if it has 4 or 16 or 256 colors. If it wasn't for Siemens, colour screens wouldn't be available as no one dared to spend so much $ for a "colour" experiment on the market256 colours? haha Don't make me laugh!Do u recognize urself in a picture on a 256 colours screen?Get a T610

Posted by lmi
actually 701 I believe it was S10 the first, then SL10 and in third S11. I believe S10 is the oldest, released in 1997.
S10 was my first phone and I've loved it so much in that time I wished it would still work!... Although it had only 4 colors, the colors were great and I've never realised why siemens stopped using color screens... I've recently bought a working SL10 and its fantastic! Just for the fun of it of course

Posted by *Jojo*
@ing. - OK ! I thought it was 'really' the - S25

Posted by Si_V80
Hehe i found my SL10

Taken with my Samsung E800

Posted by Cophia

T68 was the first to display JPEG and GIF images in colour. And Bluetooth. MMS was a first as well (if you count firmware upgrades).

Posted by Manuel_max
Sony Ericsson T610

Posted by Stajlerboy
The first one was Siemens S25. I owned it when it came out. But I don't remember what year it was thought.

Posted by max_wedge
a colour screen like the s10 definitely qualifies as a colour screen, since it has more than two colours, however the phone itself could not display jpeg or gifs.

When people talk colour screens they generally mean 256 colours or more, on phones that can display the common image formats jpg and gif. These phones would be called pictures phones, in which case the question should be "First Picture Phone?", and the answer is T68

Did Siemens come up first with Slider phones too then

seems the firm were well ahead of the times back then what a
shame they closed down
