Who will be your choices? Me, they are as follows:
Best Picture - Seabiscuit (I love horses that's why).
Best Actor - Sean Penn
Best Actress - Charlize Theron

I hope that Peter Jackson wins Best Director. Not so much for Return of the King, but for the trilogy as a whole. What he has done with those films is quite astounding.

Hali Berry can talk about black women not winning Oscars, but fantasy and sci fi is just as descriminated against. Return of the King would be the first fantasy/sci fi film to ever win the best picture award, and I very much hope it does.

So do I, though I think the Two Towers was a better film.

I'd say TTT was the weakest book and film IMO. The film mostly due to my two favorite segments being moved to ROTK (Cirith Ungol and Voice of Saruman). I still think Fellowship was the best film though, even better than ROTK.

I'm sure Peter Jackson never reads Esato, but even so I'd just like to congratulate him on finally getting the recognition he deserves from the Academy - in the form of his Best Director Oscar.
Also like to congratulate Fran Walsh and Phillippa Boyens for the Best Adapted Screenplay awards, Weta Workshop for all the techincal awards, Howard Shore for winning Best Score and Annie Lennox for Best Song.
Well done all

It was really one of the 'boring' ever presentation of the Oscar's Awards Night - it's 76th, as lamented by one of CNN's news correspondents - almost entirely, if not for the heroics and funny performance by the host - Bill Crystal, that was the time when he sang . . . As director, Steven Spielberg declared the winner of the year's best picture award, and I quote : "It was a clean sweep" - for the movie, The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the Kings ! 11 nominations and they got all the 11 awards - I guess it was the first in the history of the academy ! Though honestly speaking, I just haven't watched even the first part of the sequel . . . They say it was really time consuming. My bet - The Seabiscuit and The Master and Commander flicks didn't made it through - even in getting some minor awards - at least two . . .
Well, after all is said and done. Congrats! to director Peter Jackson for the painstakingly effort he did to the movie - he was really vindicated this time !
