I have been looking a second phone on eBay for a few weeks now and I am fed up with all the scammers selling "a link to a website to get t610/p900/8910i etc. for £20" crap.
I am so pissed off with seeing the line, "I am not selling the phone but a link...!"
Please, we need to mobilise to sort this crap out, to help the genuine people who would like to purchase a phone from legitimate people. This is spoiling eBay and there must be something we can do to stop people selling such links on the site.
Has anyone had experiences of this?
I used to enjoy surfing through eBay and have bought many items, even on impulse, just through browsing, but now I am really annoyed with this "link" rubbish.
Any thoughts people....?

there was an interesting bit on a show called scambusters on BBC1 tonight about pyramid schemes.

Seriously, the only way to combat these types of scams would be to convince people to NEVER, EVER bid for them, but unfortunately people do.
There's a guy who posted esato who's convinced that these things are for real and no amount of persuasion could convince him otherwise. There was also a guy who had the nerve to post a message trying to flog his signal boosters a couple of days ago.
As long as people are allowed to sell links on ebay, this kind of thing will continue to happen. Just forget ebay, and buy your phone from somewhere decent instead.

No way!!! Don't forget E-Bay! Just don't follow these stupid sellers! Have enough sense that you only bid for something you can actually get if you pay for it (not some stupid link which could be broken, old, or not even work!)
Sides, lots of people have some really cool stuff on E-Bay!!! I got myself a Bluetooth Headset (the SONY Ericsson HBH-60), an MP3 Player, a 128 MB SD card, AND the camera attachment for the T68i (when I used to use my T68i), all for only THIRTY DOLLARS!!! The headset alone is worth more than $100.
No, don't forget E-Bay, just be smart, and bid smart, that's all it takes!

you should start an "ebay scammers" thread, starting with this individual. then everytime someone else finds a scammer, they can post the name on there. soon the thread would be huge, like the "i did something naughty" thread.

yep, thats what i thought, you gotta really hate them, before you spend money on it. Also if people were to bid on it as a joke, he would have to pay a percentage of the final cost of the auction.

I was also wondering, how do people search for their phones? I frequent E-bay, yet have only come upon 1 of these auctions (selling a link to a phone), and that was only because I wasn't searching, I was browsing.
Whenever I search, I do specific searches, and ALWAYS find what I need (not always at the price, but at least I find the item), with very minimal junk in the results.
By the way, anyone got the URL of this "anti-auction" auction? I'd love to read what the guy wrote to try to stop people from bidding on pyramid scams!!! (As long as you have the URL of the item, you can ALWAYS view the item, even long after the bidding has ended!)
Anyone got the thread of the person who insists that some pyramid scams are real? I'd love to read that also!

yep, i seen people bid 80-100 quid for a link for an xbox. could get one second hand for that price. if you look around at the auctions, you can sometimes find auctions that offer the link for free.
