has anyone had their t68 hang very often after the upgrade? I find lots of problems especially when the internal memory is near 0. had my phone hang many times while transferring data across ir to my laptop. another problem i found was that certain screensavers can't be deleted properly from the phone. the memory is cleared but it leaves a white box with a red x across it. has anyone had this problem too? would really appreciate some help.

hmm it nv happen to me .. aft the upgrade .. it nv hang ...

Ok, here's my story. I bought my T68 in Hong Kong, but it was made in Indonesia. When a friend of mine sends me SMS in chinese, I could read it, but I couldn't write in chinese. Guess that makes my phone T68m.
I've now upgraded my phone with the MMS software, called AsianLatin3. I can now choose Simple Chinese as menu language, but I'm disappointed that I still can't make chinese character inputs.
This feature is really important to me. I've been reading this forum and it seems like it's impossible to make an upgrade to T68i with chinese (told by TonyG)? Is this really true?
The chinese language had been there all the time. I could read chinese without even having the software (couldn't even choose chinese as menu language), so I would say that the only difference is the input method. If it is truely impossible to make such an upgrade, do you guys have any idea of where the problem is? I'd like an in-depth technical explanation, if anyone here is able to give me.

huni>- If I can get the news earlier I will inform you right away.

Hi prefer>- It is true that the "i" series sw can only recognised your ORIGINAL sw in your phone at this moment. Meaning if your phone is T68m, and you have converted to T68mc just because you like to have the Chinese input. It will work on your T68m. But during the upgarding to "i" sw, they will only recognsed your original T68 sw and not the converted T68mc sw. All your converted sw in your phone will be gone and you are back to square one, that will be the T68mi that your phone can only be upgraded to. So now in this case, T68m can only upgrade to T68mi and T68mc can only upgrade to T68ic. There is no interchangeable. Sorry to say that, now the "ic" sw and an added advantage over T68mi is now all T68ic phone have the English T9 input. So all T68mc phone owners will be happier than the T68 phone owners.

TonyG >> Thanks a lot for taking your time to explain, Tony. I really appreciate that (although I've read this explanation of yours earlier already).
If it's merely a software thing, then I can't for the world understand why they make a software with chinese menu, but no chinese input. That's what I have at the moment. Also, if we know exactly what happens when converting T68m to T68mc, we would also know what needed to be done to make an T68i>T68ic.
What I feared was that the chinese input algorithm was burned into an EPROM or something, which obviously wouldn't be easy to attain by T68 users without a hardware replacement.

hey guys, new here! i am using a t68i myself. am a reformed user from nokia! can gimme some hints on how to put up the pic of the 68m/68i next to the msg? by the way, T68i is the best phone they have on the market! no need for anymore stupid operator logos man!
Posted by mrbunglez
hey djace, howz the change? is the sms speed really as bad as they say it is? compared to a nokia? can tell me like what are the good differences not ah? cuz i also waiting to buy leh... still waitin for a little drop in the price...hee..
anyone in this forum going for CommunicAsia 2002 next week? heard there's going to be a huge SonyEricsson booth! maybe can get a look at the new sony products..
Posted by madhero
anyone has the settings to the e-mail function in the T68m-i??? I subscribe to M1, they couldn't help...
Posted by prefer
mrbunglez >> I was Nokia user before I bought T68m. The biggest disappointment was the speed in general. Not only SMS composing, but the whole damn phone was slow. Browsing contact in the phonebook was a pain in the ass.
However, after the upgrade, I promise that the phone now is what I've ever wanted.

hi
m having problems when connecting. it usually says connection timed out or it hangs during service starting. my unit is t68i
Posted by TonyG
prefer>- If you really in need of a Chinese input that critical than you have to sacrifise something. That is the upgrading to "i" version. Yes, your T68m could convert to full T68mc sw. But beware that there are two things would be mising from your phone. 1. Your English T9 will be gone and 2. you do not have the Chinese stroke keypad in your phone which the oringinal T68mc has. Till now I do understand there are certain phone brands could only received Chinese wordings and could not write. My former Motorola P7689 is one of it. So, prefer, you have to weigh which is the most important function to you and than make a decision.

@ TONYG does t68mc has MMS upgrade there in singapore?
Posted by TonyG
dexterc>- Yes, we do. But currently our SE Singapore temporary do not want to release yet due to they have found some sw problems in the "ic". Currently there are a small bunch of ppl had their "mc" upgraded to "ic" only. Now SE Singapore only allowed the upgrading for "m" models.

Orang3> Sorry for the late reply. Its a trial thing from M1 but its only until 15 June and it takes one day to activate. I tried the try out over at www.phoneparadise.com and am able to open it. I have not tried the sending as all my friends whom own a T68 are from singtel.
I am very sorry but I cannot remember which number I sent the message to get my mms set up. But I do remember the message is "Wap 68mms" I think its sent to something 170... Hee so sorry
Posted by djace
mrbunglez> well, as wat u have already found out, it definitely is slower in msging than a nokia. the t9 is ok, just as good to a nokia. actually, i am still holding on to a nokia fone. using the 6510 as my spare phone. wif the t68i, i dun need to spend money downloading operator logos. just come down to esato to download my fave pics & use them as backgrounds! the fone is kinda slower, but i can live wif that! well, yes, m1 is having the mms trial going on. but i sent my my other frens using the mms, they cant seem to open them at all. to get the settings, send 'wap 68mms' to 107, not 170. just to inform all the ppl out there. but not sure whether they still will send it to u, coz the trail is gonna be over tomolo. anyone has any idea how i can get tix to communicasia?
Posted by orang3
thks for the wap info ... but it is too late... ehehe i called them last night .. and they said it is over ... damn ..

I just got my T68m upgraded to T68i, GREAT! But the problem is that they are releasing the CD & Manual 3 weeks later, the guy at Goldhill said that we are able to download the software from the web soon, is this true?
TonyG, whats your take on this?
TIA
By the way, watching the international stunts award and they featured a scene from the new James Bond movie, Die another day, Pierce Bronsan and Halle Berry, in a scene, Halle Berry was using a T68i!
Watch out for it when the movie is released!
Cheers to all in this great Singapore site.

you can dl the programme on the
website ... the files are the same .. or even newer ... look for the t68i sw
Posted by loonee
do you have to be a suscriber of m1 or singtel to upgrade the t68 to t68i software? or they let anyone with the t68 get a free upgrade, i mean its a service from ericsson. i bought my t68 from indonesia, and i am going to spore next week, i wonder if i can upgrade it in spore. anyone know? they have not release the t68i upgrade in indonesia, they are so slow. thanks!
cheers
Posted by TonyG
Echelon>- Are you refering the "i" sw or CD manual sw? I don't think you could dl the "i" sw from SE website. Or else why do SE appoints SC or SP all over the world to do the upgrading. Beside I understand from our SESC they will not guarantee should anything goes wrong if the downloading is from the website or even something happens to your phone due to the downloading. If you say about the CD manual sw, it could be possible.
loonee>- Yes, you can do the upgrading in Singapore without having to be a subscriber of our network providers. But you have to pay for it. Probably more expensive. Even in Singapore all our T68 owners with valid warranty cards have to pay too. It will not be free. But I have to highlight to you one thing, if your network provider do not support MMS in Indonesia, you could not utilise the services even though you have upgraded to "i" sw.

TonyG> Thanks for the quick response!!!
I meant the CD Manual SW, I had the phone upgraded at Goldhill. I asked whether they can change the cover to the T68i, they can't. For the original cover it will cost SGD65/- FYI.
Thanks agian, this Singapore website, makes this place feel like home.
Cheers to all!

Echelon>- Don't mention it mate. Pesonally I felt the T68 had a more solid look than T68i. Especially the lunar grey color. Just take the T68 battery and T68i battery for comparision, Our T68 battery had the rubber effect look whereas the T68i battery once you look at it you know it is plastic. Even the phone cover itself due to the light color design, you can feel that it looks very plastic. This is my personal opinion. Hope all T68i owners do not mind.

They are situated at diagonally opposite of Novena MRT Station beside
the Shell petrol station. I think taking MRT is more easy.

TonyG->that's version supposed for which model ??
t68i or t68mi or t68ic ???
tot the latest version for t68mi is R2B025 ... care to enlighten me on this issue
Posted by orang3
TonyG .. thks for the waterfall .. and did .. you went for the 2nd upgrade to obtain R2E or did you get it the 1st time ??
Posted by TonyG
dairin>- To be honest to you, it is my T68mc to T68ic. I was one of the few who was lucky to have my "mc" upgraded to "ic". Frankly it maybe the "ic" and "i" sw has a little bit in different. Remember as I was mentioning the "ic" had an added advantage over "i" sw is the "ic" came with English T9 input now which the "mi" do not have the advantage of having Chinese T9 input. Perhaps this is the reason the "ic" sw is a bit more advance than the "i" sw.
orang3 >- It was my first upgrade.
