Hey I think now that we're getting more confirmed dates from SE singapore.. we should leave the confirmation of dates up to a few guys. Tony seems to arh with the SE pple.. if he can confirm the other person's post then we're all set.. !
So we need these 2 things confirmed:
-------------------------------------
1.) Is it confirmed next wednesday (29th May 2002) available?
2.) Must we pay the $15 for the upgrade and the CD? If under warranty must pay?
-------------------------------------
Posted by TonyG
No problem rurouni, I will definitely confirmed the two question that you asked by this afternoon.

huni>- You definitely have to convert your T68mc to English version first. That is to T68. T68mc cannot accept MMS upgrading. SESC can do the convertion for you. But you cannot convert back to mc again if you want to have the new sw.

TonyG --> pls confirm with them whether we got the full version(90%) or only the MMS feature
Posted by TonyG
Okay guys, I have just spoken to SE sw Engineer. The feed back he gave it to me as follow:-
1. Due to the sw is more onto T68i, we need to have the T68 i user manual and CD rom to run along with our handphone. The T68 sw will not be in our handphone anymore. All data in our handphone will be towards T68i. Therefore they are considering to impose a charge on the CD rom and the user manual even though is under warranty. The charges had not been confirmed but it will not be more than $15.
2. The sw now is been tested by our network providers, their network must be able to support the MMS upgrading. Once it is okay, SE will be able to release for upgrading.
3. They confirmed the releasing date will not exceed the 1st week of June, untill our network provider had found no problem in supporting the sw than upgrading will be done.
As SESC had confimed the date and price of the upgrading package, I will check with Eve in this afternoon.
Hopefully this little info can satisfy our long waiting T68 users.

wow ..... that's a very good news for u t68 owners
really can;t wait for the upgrade, i know i can depend on
all the things that said abt bad management/marketing of SE is wrong hehehe at least for me

cool ... but what the hell .. the SW should be free.. man .. tell they if we bought the MCA to and have a T68m but cannot sync then what's the pt ...

hi pals, i have a bluetooth handsfree - hbh 20 for sale, nine mths warranty till feb 2003. anybody interested? asking $240.

Sorry a bit too ex...

Thanks for checking Tony!
In Singapore, consumer action tends to be weak... so I guess we will be forced to pay the $15 or whatever in the end.
The important thing is the software itself. The best is if it comes out by next week. After all, the T68i is already MMS ready. So if the software will be the same.. then shouldn't be a problem getting it out.
Very excited now lol
Posted by robinang
hmmmm okie in singapore they said the software will be releasing on the 29th...can anyone confirm this?
and also one thing since the sw engineer says they are testing the software with OUR network...how come there are no testers in singapore????
anyone can explain?
Posted by sonyericsson
Hi aLL
testers?!?!?! there are wat but for only recommed by network operators not handphone manufacturers..
recently M1 giving 200 MMS testing to 200 users only rite?
can't wait for the MMS software.
Thank you TonyG

Okay guys, I just came out from SESC. It is sad to say that they deny
saying that they had told others the upgrading is on 29th of May and the package price is at $15. Sorry adnhk1, I do not mean you are lying,
unfortunately Eve was not there, there is no way to confirm.
As I was saying SE Singapore is working out a resonable price for the upgrading as well as to pay for the CD rom and user manual. It is exactly same as the T68i. The T68 will fully work like a T68i. But yet it is not confirmed on the charging part yet, Who knows it may be free. Just crossed our finger.
dairin>- It will be converted to be just like a T68i. More than MMS sw. It is confirmed. That means we will used it like using a T68i model. That is the reason our Network providers must be able to accept our upgrated sw. Our old T68 sw will be eliminated and turn into T68i sw.
rurouni> That is the reason the most important thing is our network providers must be able to accept the upgraded sw. Now is their turn of testing the sw.
robinang> The engineer of our network providers is doing the testing. It will not come to us yet.
Thks sonyericsson, the M1 selected 200 customer are for those who use the T68i. I don't think it is the upgraded one. I think they are now testing the upgraded sw themselves too.

but since the network engineer is testing the network then how come no have any news of them testing...
dont tell me they are invisible men that no one can see them and get any info from them????haha
just a thought
Posted by vegetaleb
What's this chit?
Why network had to try the soft?
Here we have the t68i since 1 month and it rocks, perhaps this SE people don't know how to read the instructions on how to flash a t68!
This excuses are not valable
Posted by dairin
vegetaleb --> the network must able to support the software then they can do the conversion, do u want ur handphone able to do MMS but no network to support it in ur country ????
the main thing they are testing is the MMS feature and it really need network to support it so it can run perfectly
Posted by peaceboy
A delay again? Yea yea yea... what's new with SE.
Well, either way, if it's $15 I'll pay them $15. As long as it doesn't cost too much, I'll be more than willing to part with $15. S'poreans are willing to pay lotsa money for other stuff, why not this great SW upgrade. Comes with the manual and the CD? that'll justify the price then. Just as long as they DO DELIVER the upgrade as promised and not make empty promises over and over again. I already gave up calling them because they always give me the same answers anyways.
Posted by dairin
a delay again is ok with me as long they can deliver the promise and the software is not buggy like nokia
Singaporean T68 users keep crossing ur finger so SE can finalise everything before june
Posted by adnhk1
I'm sure Eve is not lying to me, as it is not me who called them yesterday, IT IS THEM who called me as I left my mobile number with them a couple of weeks ago to call me if there are any news.
Anyway, I trust and believe her as she wouldn't have called me in the very first place if she is unsure about it right? Well, I will be getting ready and will call her again on Tue to confirm before I personally go down there.
Cheers Everyone
Posted by dairin
ok ok then u try to contact her and confirm with her the news that she told u last week
maybe u can try to get a little bit more detail than the one that TonyG got it
Posted by TonyG
Nope! Neither I said she was lying. It is only happen that she is not around and we cannot get the confirmation from her how or where she got the news on the confirmed date. However, if you can get more advance news than me, I will be much happier as I am also waiting for the upgrading.

Dairin, your arguement doesn't make sense. Why does the network need to be tested to support this software? Isn't a phone with the EXACT SAME SOFTWARE already running on those networks, namely the T68i.
What would make more sense is they are training the SESC staff on the upgrade to make sure they don't end up with a lot of screwed up phones after the upgrade, you can screw the phone up with just an ordinary upgrade, and this is a "conversion", so I'm sure more can go wrong. They don't want to face the cost of replacing those badly flashed phones.
This "testing MMS for the networks" is Bull, otherwise why is the T68i on the market already MMS ready?
Posted by dairin
JasonDeFaoite-> sorry if i made the mistake(based on ur reply) but from what i see they really need to test network as this MMS thing is very new to singapore's network
even M1 giving a free MMS trial to 200 lucky t68i user, they also want to see how their network can cope with the demand when MMS will as popular as SMS now
U have the point that maybe SE is giving a training for the staff as this is not an ordinary software upgrade but it is a conversion -> i agree fully on this statement
no hard feeling but i accept all feedback from you fellow t68 user
Posted by TonyG
Correct me if I am wrong JasonDeFaoite. Though what you said it is absolutely correct, they have this MMS for T68i user to test run why do they need to test the sw since it is the same as T68i. From my personal view of point is this is an upgraded sw it is not originally designed for T68. And now especially to upgrade to MMS for T68 it has to eliminate everything from T68 sw and in put the T68i sw. It is just like a transplant of organs it may anytime goes wrong. So who will be the want to be blamed. Thats why they are very careful to ensure everything is in order than they dare to release the sw. Frankly I am not tecnical inclined this is what I can think for as a lay man terms. Beside I also fully agreed with you that the SE people do not want to take the blame if anything goes wrong on the phone. Partly I also think they want to have the feed back from europe site which had already done the upgrading. That is why it had been delayed for such a long period. Or else to test the sw should not have take such a long time.

Yeap! I fully support dairin message. This is a discussion forum. Somtimes we may be wrong on what we are thinking. We learn from one to another. We should not have hard feelings towards other posters if they point out our mistake. After all we can learn through mistake made.

Hi dairin/tonyG
I am not saying there is no testing required, what I am saying is that the excuse of need to test the MMS portion of it for network compatibility is in my humble opinion just pure delaying tactics on SE's behalf.
Now MMS may need testing ... it is new and many things can go wrong ... but why only the T68m "converted" phone needs this testing with the networks and not the T68i??
As Tony said, many things can go wrong, but that is with the upgrade or conversion itself. You screw up a flash of the phone memory, it is not as easy as just reflashing it. SE do not want 100's of T68s coming back to them dead (a friend of mine just had his T39 killed by the Jurong Serivce centre during an upgrade ... took 3 days but got a new phone).
I would be very very surprised to see a bug "detected" in all this supposed testing and it fixed and the f/w recompiled and released, all in the space of 1 week of it being available from EMMA2.
Anyways, whatever the reason ... i think we all wish SE would just hurry the f**k up
Posted by JasonDeFaoite
Hey guys I am not "targetting" you guys ... just frustated with all these delays, and the poor excuses for them from SE. Now it looks like Week 21 is passing us by without the upgrade, sigh

Hi Jason,
i feel that the one that SE testing now is how the network will react to this MMS as it contains more than the original SMS where as only text inside it, that's why only 200 M1 lucky t68i user able to test the network.
if they can find and solved all the bugs detected in the space of 1 week would be better as i dun want to convert my software then later find out that it's buggy
Cheerz and Peace

yeah we all also frustated and tired with all the excuses that SE given, i can understand that and i, my self not targeting u either
sorry if i offended u in any ways
Posted by TonyG
Okay, now we knew that who our "common enemy" is. No ill feelings towards each other okay? No wonder now than I know why Spider man came to Singapore at this time of year. Because SE is asking him to standby and help to kill the bugs if detected in the sw....
Hee Hee Hee

hahaha that's very funny TonyG, better SE ask spiderman to lend the spiderweb so can catch all the bugs and solve it once and for all(faster) so we can get it the upgrade faster also
Posted by orang3
pls.... could all of us come together ... and show them some consumer action .... so they might give us the SW faster and just may b free... isnt it great ????
Posted by jess_strawberry
It will be free so long as your warranty is still valid. Anyway as i ve mentioned the jurong pt service pt guy told mé he usually does it free 4 every1. And the sw will only be out end of may.

alright if tht's what u say ...

jess i icq u the stuff u ask me regarding ur email...

Hope he still can say like that when other SESP charging us for the upgrade, i confirm go there to upgrade eventhough it's very far from my place
Posted by EricssonSony
hmm..... called the service center at kallang pudding today a few times and spoke to two different customer service staff including the EVE that you have been talking about.... hmm..... seems that the actual date have not been confirmed yet.... I'm really wondering how much truth is there behind the previous posts about the this statment made by EVE...... Have anybody been able to verify it?? Or is it just Bull**** all along??
Posted by TonyG
SE Singapore still have not give them the green light how could they able to confirm the date of upgrading? Since SE Singapore sw Engineer
had told me it will not be later than 1st week of June, that means between now to 7th of June, anytime they will annouced the upgrading date. Personally I estimate it will be around end of May.

either you hate it or you love it Posted by TonyG
Sorry jess_strawberry. just wish to highlight to you, this is not just an ordinary sw upgrading. I agreed with you all upgrading will be free if the set is still within the warranty period,. But this upgrading will come with a CD rom and user manual to teach us how to use the sw. It is compulsory we must have these to operate our handphone. Natuarally they will charge us for these items. But, I did mention SE Singapore is still considering on the charging part. So we have a 50-50 chance may not require to pay.
Thks!
