Unable to Sunc - Frustrated and wanted help!

This problem been driving me crazy for a couple of days now...

Has anyone been able to sync the P800 PDA applications (i.e. contacts, calendar, tasks, notes) with Outlook XP/2002 from the PC to the P800 via the USB cable connection (cradle)?

Does the 'mobile phone icon' should always be there on the PC task bar whenever i place P800 on the cradle? (Because i realise it wasn't there sometimes! though the phone is charging!)
Can anybody give me step by step instructions as im not tech savy or does anybody live in Sengkang area so thet they could help me?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

So many new members, all with P800 somemore.

I propose that one of the new lucky/rich owners take over the duties of chairman and should organize AND treat dinner for the next gathering.

Posted by orang3
good idea .. so .. who shall it be ? .... mark .. ur kinda irresponsible ... push ur responsible to others ..

Posted by MarkOng
hey, I'm just a poor corporate exec trying to make a living while all these more "chairman" types seem to be more knowledgable than when we first started and are all carrying more hi-tech handphones which I think will work well when acrrying out their chairman-ly duties and being able to save more info into their contact lists.

What the heck... I'm just jealous that I can't afford a new phone (not to mention new clothes, haircut and a pair of shoes)

haha .. can see tht .. u have long hair .. so do you have any lobang to get the GD88 or GX 10 cheap ???? maybe we get together .. hehe e

Posted by MarkOng
Did you have a look at the real thing? Saw the specs and it looked quite big, something like the old samsung sgh-800. Dun know ley... 888 still quite steep for a phone of that spec. I on M1 somemore. Besides the 65k screen and built in cam, features still lose out to T68 so I still considering. Maybe wait and see if price will drop. The other colour panasonic models also drop price about 2 months after launch.

I am also having problem syncing my P800 with my Outlook 2000, I think very few has successfully sync their P800 with Outlook. I went to SE Service Centre last week but according to them they haven't test the phone yet so there is nothing they can do. Maybe just wait for the SW upgrade or PC Suite upgrade, I don't know what is really wrong.

Any plans of meeting, all SE phone user in Spore?

Sharp GX10 is cheaper n slimmer....saw the model at burlington sq, that uncle chop carrot...quote $1488 juz for the set....

Posted by MarkOng
You just won't let me go right? Like I said, I don't think GD88 is a better phone except for the screen and in built cam. I like the design as well.

Saw the GX-10 at the same shop but never bother to go and ask. Notorious for chopping carrot one. don't bother about that shop.

@Imagikcca, EDoom worked okay on my second try (I put the WAD files in with the executable not the documented place - forgot to RTFM ) - Did you get the 2 WAD files okay? If not I can point you to where I got them from.

Posted by Imagikcca
i put the doom1.wad file into document folders....u put in the executable files, where is that? i mean where do u copy the wad file to? @mark the gd88 zoom function swells but e price sux...too pricey....

Posted by MarkOng
The zoom doesn't really matter. Its just easier to take facial shots to put on the phone. I've got my own digicam for other stuff. But you're right. Its way too pricey.

Posted by Imagikcca
the P800 camera works ok,n i can downsize my digital pics to VGA size n upload to the P800 for viewing/MMS...sometimes its hard to lug e digicam ard oso...

Is the P800 price dropping ?? just saw an article on cnet at S$1188 ??

So far, anyone of you in this Forum bought the phone from the SONY.com.sg ?? how is it working till now - ??

TONYG - why didn't SE get on with the testing of the SYNC problem btween the P800 and OutLook2000 ??

Posted by revant
yoohoo.. is 8910i just like t68i ??

Posted by orang3
plim---> tht is the price with line ..

re --> i guess it is much heavier .. but i like it too .. but it is nt gona worth it .. considering the price .. 1k +

Posted by Imagikcca
that 8910i is costly due to its design n the high class image it protrays........class comes with a price.........class,portability,affordability n functionality are almost always mutually exclusive......

Posted by TonyG

Plim>- Till date as far as I know SE still testing the phone together with our SP, it is not fully ready yet. It is due to Marketing reason, Sony had decided to launch it earlier. However, I have gathered and complied all of our fourm members posted messages and I will talk to the SE Engineer see whether he cud answered all of our members quiries. Any news released I will post it in this forum.

Selling my Slightly-Used P800 in Singapore - Cheap

Please send me email at The_Cunning_Man@hotmail.com if you are interested. For reasons of simplicity etc, this is only for chaps in Singapore - I'd be happy to meet up with you in town for you to look at and test the item.

Best,

C

Cunning Man, i don't mean to be kpo, may i know why are you selling it?

Posted by TonyG

dairin>- I will be having a meeting with SE guys tomorrow. Will post to you if there is good news. Happy reunion!

Posted by macdid
i also no mean to be kpo but i also want to know y u're selling it????

Posted by TonyG

ya Cunning man>- If it is really no good hopefully you can tell us. At least it will give we all a second thought. As you know there are a few "Hickup" on this P800 already. We do not know whether is due to network or the phone really not up to our expectation.

Posted by Cunning Man
Hi chaps,

Thanks for the questions. As some of you know, I bought the P800 about 3 and a half weeks ago - at that time for a pretty high price from Far East Plaza. I am sure most of you know what the main faults of the phone are. But for me, the main reasons why I have now decided to sell it are:

1) Slow synchronization etc. The new version of the PC Suite software (which I downloaded from the website last Saturday) has addressed some of the issues I had previously. However, it is still very slow (about 10 minutes plus) if you have a lot of contacts etc. I am still having some problems (e.g. missing contacts), which SE have suggested are due primarily to my huge Outlook file (I have 4000+ contacts, 4000+ notes, 8000+ calendar items etc...), and the fact that the current version of PC Suite uses memory quite aggressively - i.e. my current 512Mb on my notebook is insufficient. My guess is that they will come out with yet another version of the software next month (in time for the US launch), which may solve most of these issues.

2) I am relocating to the USA, to a state where GSM hasn't really been built out, so I will not be able to use the phone functionality.

Actually, I must say I still like the phone. The size is pretty darn small when you consider all that it can do, and there are now quite a few applications coming out for it. I also like the fact that it's got bluetooth etc, and that the GPRS browser and email functions work really well. However, if you have more than 2500 contacts or so, it might give you problems syncing for now - most people have no problems with this.

Again, I am looking to sell it cheap, as I don't have the time. I would be willing to sell it for S$900 or best offer - just send me an email at The_Cunning_Man@hotmail.com with your phone number.

Best,

C

Expecting it should be around $600~700 in 3 to 4 months time. GD88 is a better buy and much smaller.

Posted by Imagikcca
it depends on individual needs n preference, one man's meat is another's poison......indeed it may be better in some way n another.......but i still think P800 rocks....
