It's highly irritating!

Posted by artemiy
Because nokia rulez bigtime. It's functionality is covering all it's problems. Im buying a nokia soon.

Posted by Ayush
I laugh when you say its functionality! Se has more functions than nokia. Check out its mms capabilities. Far better than any nokia. It's only a example. Come on owning a 310. You aint aware!

Posted by Vlammetje
How is this important to any of us?

Posted by Ayush
I'm really sorry i posted twice. Mods pls un tangle the mess.

Posted by Scally_cadet
Why do people go ga ga cause its SE? I think anyone who picks a phone cause who its made by is stupid. Pick a phone cause it suits your needs/wants.

Posted by mikebech
Buy a hp pocket pc with bluetooth a wlan and sync it together use your crapy phone like mine as modem for the pocket pc, it has more features & programs you download for free.

Posted by Ayush
I guess i was talking about phones and not pocket pcs

Posted by mikebech
All cellphones are like desposable plastic every two or 5 months you need an upgrade.

Posted by Ayush
Oh yeah? Hasn't it ever crossed ur mind that there might be some long time users

Leave Mike alone,he always posts this crap about pocket pc in whatever threads flips into his eyes! nucklehead. About ur ques: cuz they r unpretentios, simple ppl using their phones for a few calls and sms. They dont feel ashamed at the fact they produce a brick outta their pockets. They have the same ol' shitty interface and they same plasticky-toy-like manufacture. Enjoy it!

@mike

Why dont you just buy a p900 then you only have one brck in your pocket instead of two.

I am not "ga ga/ gaga", it's just that I really like some of Nokia's latest fone models (7650, 6600, 9210i, 6220 etc. etc). The very same way that I admire Sony Ericsson's too (T68i, Z600, P800 and P900). I am not biased, I'm just a celfone addict . . . at times, when I have money to spare !

I might be wrong, but i think most people go ga-ga over Nokias because of their good reputation when Nokia was selling the Nokia 5110s, 8210s, 3210s. They were simple to use, offered decent battery life and were innovative.

As time progressed people who looked for functionality and value in their phones became more disappointed with Nokia and left them to some other alternate manufacturer. The remaining people continued on because of their established image and reputation in innovation.

It is only till now where we are seeing a bigger shift away from Nokias. I think people are now realising that Nokia is product churning. I have seen more Sericssons (T610s, P800s) than I have ever seen before.

As much as i want to believe in a company I feel that Sony Ericsson, just like any other company, will do the same. When SE has a huge market share and a loyal following, it would be no surprise for them to produce a mindless and repetitious product to maximise profits and capitalise on brainless following of loyalists - similar to the fact that some may people may believe that they are driving the finest german engineered and built car despite the fact that their Merc M-class was made in Alabama

It would be interesting in 5 years whether we will have a post on why people go ga ga over SE...

Theres my 2c anyway. /me puts on flame proof suit

@morbodestroys - very nice post/reply there . . . really very truth about SEs and Nokias strategies/styles of releasing fones !

@morbodestroys

Well said.

And where did you get that flame proof suit, 'cause I might need one later

i think it's safe to say that nokia was the 1st to introduce phones that you can fully customize...like graphic sms...logos...

you can really change some stuff in those phones...people really got into it...but they failed to see the features that's in the device...

but we...SE users... got to notice the beauty of SE phones...not to mention the features included in these devices...and it really just kicks nokia off the spot!!!

Do u realise that most of the nokia users dont browse forums like these, dont get informed on tech mattes, etc. They want 3 days of stand-by, changeable covers(they change it once a year,if they ever) and..no antena. What else?Nuthin' cuz they r all the same,anyway:-D what i dont understand is how much longer can a firm live off of its pasta fame! It's been 3-4yrs already. And pls, dont give me ' the improved quality bulls**t'! I want a real reason:-D

Well i agree with morbodestroys, but i'm also sad because of nokia's latest products.... I mean if i want a good smartphone all in one device it's a p900 or nothing and that's sad really.... Actually i don't even look at nokia ,that's because i was extremely dissapointed with the last three nokias i've had (7650, 3650, 7210)
Nokia is an excellent company for medium phones aka t310 and 3100 but i think it's slowly loosing grip with high end.....
while i think that sony ericsson can't really compete with nokia on low and medium phones because everytime i compare a nokia 3100 with a t310 or t230 i think man se isn't doing well but if you compare a nokia 6600 with a p900 it's just : se rulz!

@imran: and now u r gonna tell us how aaaaaallllllll nokias are so much better cuz the reselling value is bigger.Which u know is not accurate.

Does it really matter what make of cellphone you have in your pocket? I chose the T610 because it suited my needs, and the price was right(free!) In the future the REAL war will be with the operating systems as phones become smarter and integrate more with our entertainment as well as communication needs. No prizes for guessing the winner of that little battle! ;-)

I admit I had a nokia two years ago and it did what i needed to do - then I got a T68 and never looked back my P800 is the best phone I have had

I have even caught myself saying
'I love my phone everytime I find something new and cool that it can do' - if you never have you will

SE rox

I too moved to the T68i after using a series of Nokia phones because the Nokias could not keep up with the features of the T68i - colour screen, bluetooth, picture caller id ...

BUT, when the novelty of the new features wore off, I began to miss certain Nokia 'conveniences'. Three things really stood out for me:

1. Nokia's very quick SMS. The T68i was woefully slow and it was a pain waiting for the phone to keep up with my SMSing. Although the latest SE phones like the T630 are quicker, reviews still say that they are not as quick as the quickest Nokias, which is just not acceptable to me.

2. Nokia's screen saver implementation. When I have a missed call/SMS or if the network is down, the Nokia's screen saver stays off. One look at the screen and I can tell. As for my T68i, there was no such indication once the screen/power saver mode kicked in. I had to keep pressing a button to dismiss it and check. This really irritated me.

3. Nokia's timed profile feature which is really convenient (for the uninitiated, you can set the profile to revert to another after a pre-determined period of time).

I didn't realise how important these 'sillly' points are until you no longer have them. So much as I love SE's state-of-the-art features, I know that the above issues will eventually come to haunt me. The solution ? ... I'll just stick to Nokias for now and hope that the upcoming 6230 gives me all the features I want (other than the small screen ... sigh).
