Neonode testas för fullt sedan en och en halv månad tillbaka. Men den hinner inte bli färdigtestad innan jul.
Förhoppningarna var stora att Neonode skulle finnas på marknaden i år. För ett tag sedan gick man också ut och sa att man hoppades få ut produkten innan jul. Men så blir inte fallet.
- Vi är fortfarande inte helt nöjda, och vi vill inte lansera en halvfärdig produkt på marknaden, säger Alexandra Jansson, informationsansvarig på Neonode.
Varför sa du att jag skulle ringa dig den 10 december förra gången vi pratades vid?
- Det var inte klart hur och vad vi skulle säga till dig, fortsätter Alexandra.
Hon förnekar dock att något oförutsett skulle ha inträffat.
- Allt går enligt planerna, säger hon.
Vad händer nu?
- När vi är nöjda kommer vi att meddela om detta, säger Alexandra.
När kommer Neonode N1?
- Den kommer med säkerhet nästa år.
Translation:
Neonode won’t be coming this Christmas!
Neonode is testing their N1 full on, since one and half month. However it wont be completely tested before Christmas.
The hopes were grand that Neonode would be introduced this year. A while back the company even announced that they hopped to release it before Christmas. But that’s not going to happen.
-We are still not completely satisfied and we don’t want to release a half finished product, says Alexandra Jansson, Information Manager on Neonode.
Why did you say that I should call you on the December 10th last time we talked (Mobil reporter)?
-At that time I had no official announcement ready for you, Alexandra continues.
She denies that anything unforeseen should have happened.
-All is going according to plans, she says.
What happens now (Mobil reporter)
-When we are satisfied we will make an announcement, Alexandra says.
When is Neonode N1 coming (Mobil reporter)
-With all certainty it will come out next year, she finishes.
What do you guys think? Will we ever se this phone?
I must say that I am compleatly satisfied with my beloved p900 and that Neonode has lost its competitive edge.

Unfortunately i think it's dead already.
When the initial release date was announced the phone rocked with all those specs.
If it's going out in 2/3 months from now it'll be outdated already (if it has the same specs).

I think something is messed up anyway. In a swedish magazine (GP) for about 9 months ago, a reporter wrote a story about Neonode was just a hype to sell to Nokia or SE.
The President of Neonode said it was'nt true, but at this time I dont know.

Urgh I've been waiting for ages for this phone! the annoying thing is they don't keep you up-to-date on whats going on. The website hasn't been updated for at least a good couple of months.

As far as I understand, everyone initially worked without pay for ownership in the company. So the employers own the company. Furthermore the president made allot of money from selling a company he owned before (forget the name). He made around 5 million EUR. So I think he was financing it at first. Then came the ownership option and now I think their backed with a Venture Capital firm.

The neonode is a myth.
A bunch of disgruntled SE employees who were sacked for stealing sugar from the tea room decided to get together and make a killer phone that would destroy their old employer.
There would be arguments amongst the designers, it was too small, it was too big etc etc.
Then one day they completed a prototype, they went to make a call and realised they forget to incorporate any telephony system----they created a calculator/pda/paper weight with no phone functions.
Back to the drawing board---about this time two of the staff were sacked for once again stealing sugar from the tea room, resulting in the sugar being locked in the safe from now on---they completed the second prototype which they regarded as state of the art.
It included the following amazing specs:
-Colour Screen
-microphone
-camera (actually a discount voucher for a Kodak disposable)
-handstrap
along with the usual specs:
-box
This time the team didn't want to make any mistakes and decided not to try and make a call.
The phone is currently with the marketing department who will decided on a release campaign when he finishes cleaning the toilet and stocking up the sugar in the tea room.

The story of neonode proves that a good idea alone does not make for a succesfull business. Their design is good but they overlooked a few crucial worldly factors.
