Has anyone seen the new Transformers and Turtles?
They don't seem to be as good as the originals. All they have left to redo is the Thundercats.
I admit i still watch cartoons despite my age.

The new transformers and turtles are nothing compared to the originals

Agreed.
Was running at the gym and the new series of Inspector Gadget aired on the tvs in the cardio room. So appalled. Sheesh. Kids these days - they'll watch anything!!!

did anyone ever catch that Voltron remake "Voltron 3D"
it was b.f. awful
i'm pretty sure TMNT has been an on-going franchise in the USA since the original, and to my knowledge there have been at least two Transformers remakes: Beast Wars and Armada.
i picked up the original Transformers season one DVD box set the other day, and i have to say they are still entertaining (although the plot holes are easier to spot) because they worried about story and character rather than just being a half-hour advertisement. it's also amazing how much more violent the originals were compared with the remakes.

Transformers were great and so is the cartoon - Voltron. But the best robotic cartoon for me - "are" those of Japan 'made', in the likes of Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Grandizer Z etc. Those were the days when I was really fascinated by the start of the computer-generated 'animes' - the originals as others would say, but there's this guy who insist that 'Astro Boy' was the very first Japanese anime that was ever shown on television ???

no, Astroboy was the first anime shown on television outside Japan (i.e. in the US). i think the franchise was bought by a US network after the original black and whites aired.

@gelfen - Right there again ! So, if Astroboy was the first 'anime' hit outside of Japan, then what cartoon anime made it big then in their place ?

Jus seen the New Scooby Doo cartoon this morning, not too bad.

Scooby Doo 'The Movie' was quite good too. But for me the Japanese Robotics Fanfare of the late 70's was still best to date when it comes to cartoon fascination - Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Grandizer Z . . .

Downloaded all the episodes of Transformers Generation 1 - they rock
Downloaded Armada and that sucks badly. They have even removed the transforming sound - the characters yell "Transform!" instead. It's like I would run around in a movie with a gun yelling "bang! bang!".

but dude, if you bought Transformers on DVD you'd have got autobot and decepticon stickers and coasters!
i have the TF movie too, but sadly no stickers (or coasters)

Well, i wouldn't really call TF armada a remake, it's a whole new show and a new continuity. The biggest mistake to me was to recycle the original names - which they've done since beast wars. As for being a toy commercial - c'mon, what was the generation 1 cartoon but exactly that? And i'm a huge tf fan. But the g1 comic, now that still rocks! Especially with Furman =)

Some of my faves too are the Marvel and DC comic Superheroes too. There are a lot of them which were already made into 'real' movies, not just in cartoons. Like Superman, Capt. America, Spiderman, Hulk, Daredevil etc. How I wish that generous producers can make The Flash and Green Lantern in real - movie!!!

@dewfall: i'm not denying the originals were just an add too, but at least they made some attempt to hide it because they still had to compete with "genuine" tv shows.
@jojo: i believe there is a "Flash" movie in the works, but not sure about the green lantern. rumours still persist of another TF movie - based on the original series but this time done in live action with vast amounts of CGI for the robots themselves (think the droid armies in Star Wars Episodes I and II). now THAT is something i'd like to see.

@gelfen - thanks for the info mate, I'll try searching for it in some websites . . . 'Hope that Green Lantern will soon be in the works. My dream cartoon-made-to-life movie will be that of the Justice League of America !

@gelfen - looks like you really did your homework this time. I really never thought that the movie "Green Lantern" was really already in it's planning stages in the US movie outfits. Thanks a lot there . . .
