USB as a COM-port - Esato archive

Hi all!
I dunno if I´m writing this in the correct forum, but I wonder if anyone knows of a way to 'emulate' or to setup a USB-port to work as a COM-port.
I have a usb-device that I want to work with programs designed to work for COM-devices.

My DCU-11 cable for SonyEricsson phones is found as a kind of virtual com-port when i connect it - so there must be a way to do this also with other usb-devices - Right?
