I am giving away 1 file (you'll love this one for sure!) today to 2 lucky members... I couldn't figure out the most fair way to raffle it up so I thought a riddle should help rattle your brains. I'm guessing there are a lot of geeks (no offense) on here so this riddle shouldn't be too difficult to solve. If you think you have the answer PM me along with the answer. The first 2 members to have the answer will be given an account access to grab the file.. I will choose the 2 members with the correct answer according to the earliest times recorded on the PM DATE/TIME STAMP. Good Luck!!

THE RIDDLE:
--------------------------------

What row of numbers comes next?

1
11
21
1211
111221
312211
13112221
--------------------------------

Winners will be posted here.

thanks!!
sorry im new here....
allways wondered what PM meant :S
guess it makes sense in these kind a things

Posted by BigFeat
Still only 1 winner so far and lots of wrong answers...

Posted by vinnieza
PM stands for private message it is used to pass messages to a certain user without posting it public for everyone else to see , you can PM someone either by clicking "Send a private message" in their profile or by clicking the pm icon at the bottom of their posts

Hope this helps

PM = Post Mortem (Now that you lost your prize)

Posted by vinnieza
Have i got it right? i'm dieing to know please PM me and tell me

Posted by BigFeat
2 Winners have been found..

Congratulations to Vienneza and Mathibus... They are winners of today's game..

The winners were wise enough to read the post clearly and thoroughly.. Unfortunately several members missed the details about PMing the answers rather then blurting them out.. It figures because a lot of that "speak first, read later" goes on in here.. There were a select few that did PM, but got it wrong..

Anywho, I hope you guys enjoy it..

Posted by vinnieza
Thanx Bigfeet , i wish i had broadband (can't get it until 17th Dec ) it's only 2% downloaded.

Posted by BigFeat
The server connection does benefit broadband users... Files of this size (105mb) usually downloads in less then 3 minutes through broadband. The server also has a unique resume feature if the connection gets broken..

Again... Enjoy...

hiiii
just one question żdid me and macgyver get it right?
allthough we're dumbasses and didnt PM

Posted by MaThIbUs
w00t! what a prize!!!

Posted by diddy0071
duh people, the answer is 8, he did seven rows of numbers, the 8th row would be next, he didn't ask for the next sequence of numbers....god it's a trick question!

Posted by MaThIbUs
too late

Posted by BigFeat
The answer was actually posted by a couple members on this thread.. However, they failed to read the clear instructions in the initial post. The riddle was managable, but reading and comprehension seemed to be the bigger task for some.. But hasn't that been the problem in several cases on this forum???? I guess intelligence can be measured in several ways here...

@.... You 2 guys were correct in your answers. Never doubted no one would get the numbers right...

i know i know

Posted by vinnieza
i posted a little clue to the answer in one of my posts:

3o1t1tw1o1t1tw2o it translates:

31131211131221

which is the line after
so the answer was:

1113213211

Posted by folling182
sorry about my lack of comprehension but im a relativly new member on esato and i didnt know what PM meant.
And i agree that there are lots of ways of mesuring inteligence...
ur right about that!

Posted by vinnieza
No need to apologies
one, you're new here
two, everyone can make mistakes now and then
and three, alot of people get carried away sometimes (like me) and don't bother reading all the post (/miss bits in it) and just give the answer

Posted by MaThIbUs
Just to let you guys know i now fully downloaded the file :-) i'm off to bed now

Posted by ainamrev

WHAT A CRAP GAME, YOU ARE ALL WRONG, ........

Because a "row" (BY DICTIONARY DEFFINITION) means more than one,
there are only actually SIX "rows"on that list of numbers,
the next row being the SEVENTH (row 7).

To recap, a "1" on its own can not be counted as a row.

I'm afraid i am correct on this one @Bigfeat

Posted by macgyver
For the record, I saw that it requested PM. I just wanted to be the first to post the correct answer.

Getting a file as a reward didn't seem worth the trouble.

Oh, and if you want to be really picky, the answer can't be 7 or 8, as the question should then have been phrased "Which row of numbers comes next?" (Answer: The eighth row), as opposed to "What row of numbers comes next?" which requires the row be identified uniquely (in this case, presumably by describing the row).

@Macg- Very intuitive breakdown.. I was amused by how many members didn't realize that the answer could have been posted on thread already... On the other hand someone was clever enough to recognize this and take advantage of it. The game was trivial.. It easily could have been "what's 2 + 2". However, I'm sure someone could have challenged it and ask whether that application was taking place in Euclidean space...

At any rate, it was a dumb riddle just to give anyone a shot to grab the file. I had it to giveaway so that was the quickest and most non-biased way I could think of doing it.. The game was a one day event so if no one had won it today then no one would have had a chance to win it any other day.. I didn't count the factor that some mobile users could have had a problem using PM.. So, my bad... I never had problems PMing with my Pxxx series phones so that never came in mind.

Game Over..........
