Any news when the P900 will be launched in the Philippines? Any leaks, rumors, etc.??
Posted by jplacson
It should be available either this week or next week.

@jplacson,
how reliable is your source? halos 2x a week na akong tumatawag sa SE PH at semicon (for the past wks), iba-iba ang sagot nila...

A friend who works for the customs has a P900 (lagay daw sa kanya ng isang importer).

I've never had any cellphone other than nokia. But im planning to get the p900 now. Laging delayed ba official release ng SE phones dito?
Nokia released the 6600 on time. Hope they release the p900 next week!

just wait for it..........

FYI:
Sony Ericsson Memo Express at North EDSA informed me that the P900 should be released next week. Roughly at 45k.

ang mahal talga. sana mas mababa pa ang release price.
Posted by CrackerJack
Mataas talaga magpresyo ang Memo Express. Just compare the prices of their accessories/spare parts to Semicon and Smartnet.

wow is that truth...the p900 is been already released there..im feel really jeoulous to most of you guys, here in canada the phone really sucks even the p800 they dont have..i already miss philippines, the black market and the under table goods..

I saw the z600 on display in a cell phone shop in Park Square (near Datablitz) along with the T230? Check it out for yourselves. Still no sign of the P900.
Last week I told you guys that the N6600 was 25k to 27k in greenhills.
Now that Semicon already has the phone selling at roughly the same price. The 6600 is already selling for 15K?!!? in unauthorized dealers... did I hear them right? Grabe naman bumaba presyo ng Nokia phones.

Inggit ako sa inyo...

@rizen,
I think the problem in Canada and the US is most phones are only available as part of a contract with a phone company, and not many cellular operators are offering Sony Ericsson over there. That's why even the P800 is a rare bird in North America. In the Philippines, all cellular operators offer P800 as one of the phones available with the high end plans and you can also buy unlocked phones independently directly from legit dealers (not necessarily under the table!!). I prefer unlocked phones myself because I switch sims from time to time. Anyway if you're really deadset on a P900 you can buy one over the Internet.
A brand new P800 here is about P30K, used ones go for P25K or less.
That N6600 is starting to look real purty at the low prices though (P24,000)

And the N6600 is already selling for 15k in the grey market just because the new 6220 EDGE (useless?) phone is out.

p900, now available for semicon for 44k.
Posted by tom_riddle
44k? oh no! patay tayo dyan!
Posted by jplacson
EDGE my foot! GPRS may be decent...but coverage is far from good! If Globe & Smart push for EDGE with GPRS rates... wow! Hahahaha... I wonder how many people actually use GPRS since they started charging P0.25/KB
Unless they can compete against WiFi rates, EDGE may not take off... it'll be WAP all over again.
One thing though... if they do lower EDGE rates... it will blow WiFi away since you don't need to sit still and be near one of our very few hotspots (Ayala malls, airport, and select Seattle's Best & Starbucks)

its out tom at semicon for 44K altthough u can get it for 42K if you know some1. Nokia eat sh@t and die!!
Posted by jomni1
@jplacson
I have the same sentiments regarding EDGE and the whole GPRS issue. But I have found out recently that WiFi is a more cost efficient wireless technology because they are charged by the hour and many providers sell prepaid cards and unlimited accounts. Downside is you can only surf within the hot spots. But soon I guess there will be a lot of hot spots to cover the whole of Metro Manila. Good thing my new phone has an SD slot (for a WiFi attachment!).

Hi guys,
I need your opinion.
I was deadset on buying the P800 about a month ago when i heard about the P900. Since it is higher model, it definitely has some upgraded features from its predecessor. Except for the weight, 65K colors, dirctionary and the video recorder (which i heard can be installed in the P800 anyway) there's not much difference from the P800 anyway.
Nevertheless, i still waited for the P900 to come out thinking it might be just a few thousand pesos shy from the P800. Might as well get the latest version, right?
However, i find out now that the P900 is priced at 44K. The P800 (with warranty) is at 31K. Definitely not "a few thousand bucks."
Here's my dilemma. And i need your advice folks.
Is the 13K difference worth the upgraded features of the P900. Because if it is, then i will definitely shell out 44K for the P900. Now i'm thinking, what if i buy the P800 for 31K... wait til i grow tired of it... then buy a P900 early next year when it is, hopefully, a little cheaper than the launching price. Besides, this will be my first Ericsson phone (i've grown tired of the Nokia units. they are not much different from each other. a ripoff, i tell you) so i might as well familiarize myself first with an lower end SE phone.
What do you guys think???

Whatever suits you.
If you care about the following:
1) colorful screen
2) t9
3) video recording
4) customizable themes
5) a lager stylus
6) a professional looking phone
... then go get the P900
If they don't matter, you can save some money buying the P800 since everything else is the same.

Yup, Semicon is selling the P900 for 44k. But if you have a VIP card, you can get it for Php43,500.
No Demo units though. Can't play with it, not unless you are buying it.

There is a demo unit at Semicon Rockwell....i tried it out before i bought one.
Posted by dlreyes
That's what they told me too but I insisted... I told them that I don't buy unless I see, touch and fondle... if it satisfies me then they're lucky... and if it does not, then the phone was lucky to have been handled by mwah.
This happened yesterday afternoon at Semicon Megamall... insist on your rights as a consumer.

Lucky dudes!
Next time, I certainly will.
