Nokia aims to reach these objectives with products like the Nokia
7700, the company's first media category device that was introduced
today. The EDGE enabled Nokia 7700 media device offers users a true
mobile Internet and personal media experience via a large 640x320,
65,000 color touch screen optimized for viewing full Internet
content. Additional features include music and video streaming and
playback, an integrated VGA camera, FM radio, multimedia messaging
and email support, as well as a full complement of personal
information management features.

The Nokia 7700 media device will also support the Nokia Streamer SU-6 accessory, the first mobile DVB-H/IP Datacast receiver designed to
demonstrate the mobile phone television experience. The Nokia
Streamer attaches to the Nokia 7700 like a battery pack, and will be
used in a pilot project to showcase the future of digital
broadcasting on mobile devices.

Is that really it?

What is it with Nokia?
They come up with a phone with a great spec and then design it so it looks like crap and put people off it.

Posted by Flying Finn
Interesting form factor (Nokia Streamer attached)

I can agree to that. Interesting...

But really really really really really ... ugly.

Though the specs are excellent. And the Nokia streamer is such a good thing

Darth Vader could hold one though

It looks like old-fashioned radios don't you think? If they make a wood cover for it, then it may look better

Do you have to hold it sideway for talk just like n-gage?? Its horrible !!! Also, the answer and end call keys etc are on the side............very convenient place to press huh !?

So, you have actually tried it already to be able to make this conclusion?!?

Posted by jungie
ugly phone... even for nokia , it's too ugly.. if they release that phone, it'll be the last phone of them. 7200 and 7700, this is not series 90 , this is "series UGLIEST PHONES EVER"!!!

Posted by Flying Finn
It's meant to be held like this so the answer/call keys are actually quite convenient (when you don't use the pen anyway)

You may say it's ugly and huge but there's really nothing you can't do with it.

Posted by Super G
@ Flying Finn

Yes I agree that there is nothing you can't do with it.

But why on Earth did they make it so horrible?! (And I usually do like Nokia phones as we know )

Why wasting such an appealing set of features with a design that makes it really look like cr*p.

I believe the Lada design team was involved.

But I must say it looks better in white

God thats ugly, P900 looks far better.

Posted by vampyriaerotica
I was just browsing casually as everyday and damn!! What a disgusting phone this Nokia 7700 is!

Those engineers and designers at Nokia must have loads of bollocking from the BIG bosses to create something to compete with P800 and now P900. They must been also employed from some asylum or something to come up with the design!! lol

Posted by mhorton
That's so ugly, It's not even worth looking at again

Posted by fijbert
Nokia r slowly suckering me back in
but if we hv to hold that thing sideways like I do on the NGage, they lost a sale!!!

128mb limit again

Posted by xtokiyax
I don't agree the P900 looks nicer, I'd say the P900 is definitely classier, but not nicer.

Looks to me like some ruddy GAMEBOY... They could've done with something more elegant...

Am i the only one who thinks that this phone looks good?
nokia is experiementing with design, i think that its a good thing to do that! i real don' like nokia (well, i hate them) but their newer designs (only 7600 and 7700) look good!
i would wish that sony ericsson would experiement more in terms of design

P.S.: i still love the design of the t610 and the p900

Oh God.. The Esato forum keeps amazing me with its mature members and high level of discussion..

Anyway. I don't work for Nokia, I just don't judge phones by the name of the manufacturer.

btw.. I speak German

Personally, I don`t like this new Nokia`s phones design.. Its only my oppinion.
Your oppinion can be different like the people are different.

Posted by Flying Finn
LOL who's telling you to like it?

Posted by jacque
of course nobody. I don`t need allowance to say my opinion, you do?

discussion forum is about different opinions. Can you understand it?
If not..... LOL

It looks nice (for a Laptop :D)

Posted by Vlammetje
right...... jacque.... i still fail to see the need for you to offend random ppl in German.

If you have something to say, be a man and do so in English (and YES I do speak german) so you can be accordingly flamed for inappropriate behaviour.

Apart from that..... well I kinda liked the 7600 in a weird sort of way.... but this thing just looks horrid.

great ANOTHER TACO PHONE!

Posted by iyiinsan
I can feel developers trying to do a sideways software for the 800/900... They will probably get in touch with MiXiN in a few days...

But if we think about it clearly, the 7700 is the phone which the members of this forum wanted... Large memory, MMC card, sideways software, joystick, etc... It also has a TV module, which is "almost" the same as Sony's Memory Stick TV Tuner... Nokia is watching us!

Posted by Scally_cadet
Nokia's gotta be doing sumthing right! Damm me not being at college. Sounds like an intresting fone. Although i think the 7600 is nice. Wots the different between series 60 and 9then?

Posted by mmsman
it looks like a gameboy and it shouldn't looked like that, It seems that we have two different phones one- the spec great phone and two-a nokia gameboy that can play video.... but noooooooooo nokia had to do this-a damn ugly tech phone that looks like a damn nice gameboy.....

If se would do something like this i would for sure go to siemens or nokia, jesus, that's just ugly, though you still have to see it in real life.......

Posted by Flying Finn
They had to make it sideways so that the huge screen would fit.

Posted by Knut.G.

Jesus, who designed this thing?

I've just got one thing to say to Nokia.....SE P900

Posted by masseur
BBC have an article today on this... P900 gets a picture but not much of a mention unfortunately.

Nokia targets multimedia mobiles

Posted by nijgraham
demo of 7700 available at http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,6771,47550,00.html
top spec but looks shit!!

Posted by Flying Finn
I've got only one thing to say to SE.. learn from Nokia, they lead the market

j/k

Posted by Krubach
WTF IS THIS?!?!?!?!?

Ok, ok, i know the specs are quite good.
But because of that, the phone should look more like a .... phone ?
It should look a bit more professional (althought i like the TACO description for it).

I can imagine me walking on the street, and everybody laughing at me while using the phone.
It's just like those nightmares when you walk naked on the street.

Maybe we could start another thread sayin' "Nokia 7700 = Flop".

Posted by jacque
@F.Finn...

lead? it`s `cause of design some people prefer more than functions

Posted by ceco
What good is it to have the P900, and most people, including myself, have horrendous problems with it. It was an impulse buy, one that I regret. The P900 is a nice looking phone. I believe that when the new Nokias come out, my P900 will make a nice ashtray.

edit: Besides, after designing the best looking phone ever, 7650, they can make an ugly phone to compete with the ugliness of the P800.

7700, as correctly mentioned, is really good phone... Actually, it's excellent! As a matter of fact, it's the first that really passes 'my test' as a 'summer phone'. What I mean with the term 'summer phone' is the ability for a phone to gently and lightly slip into my summer short's pocket. 7700 is compact and its size is so prictical, that it would even make it in my short-sleeved shirt's brest pocket! Wait, wait... Actually, now that I read about its dimentions, I could even tie my neckstrap on the 7700's 'holster' and descretly carry it around when I'm out taking my walk... Great!...

PS. I'm being 100% ironic

Posted by Stan

The predicted cost was £3000 WITH CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honest

£3000 christ think how many P900`s you could buy!
