probably because you are with t-mobile and they disable it.

thanks masseur....i am with t-mobile. i just got my phone 2 days ago. i love it. do you have any info on where i can get free ringtones,themes,etc...?

Use the search, there are many many many sites that have free ringtones,themes,backgrounds, etc. You may want to check my*t610*.com just remove the *'s..

T-Mobile disables the GPRS singal icon on the desktop among other menus such as Preferred Nets.
