Hi, I am a newbie with GSM phone since I've been using CDMA phones for ever Now I am really into my new T610, but still trying to learn alot of things. Hope you guys can help me with this.

My friends could text me from MSN Messenger, but when I received it, the text message's FROM only go by numbers such as 510, 511, 512, and so forth. When I hit reply and write back, it never got to my friends, even they're still online with MSN login.
Does anyone know how to fix this???
I am using service from T-mobile right now. Please help.
Thanks

Hmmmm. Strange that.

When I get messages from MSN buddies i get them from numbers like +45313285841125631 and when I reply they get through just fine....

I can even save those numbers and send to them again.

What number did you get your 1st confirmation sms from when you subscribed to msn mobile?

And what number do you send a text to when you want to see which of your buddies are online?

@Vlam

when you send a text, you can just right-click on their SN and select 'send SMS' or whatever

@ ellie: I know that hun, it works perfect for me actually! I am trying to figure out how their settings differ from mine, coz mine DO work

what's all this msn mobile stuff then? have i missed summat for trusty T610?

Posted by Vlammetje
Hmmm..... it's actually provided by MSN.... when you subscribe to MSN mobile (via MSN messeneger in mobile menu) you allow o to send you messages to your phone (via SMS). It's been around for a while now.

Vlammetje, did your friend had to setup his/her mobile number in MSN account???

Posted by Vlammetje
nope. I set up my number and that means that everybody on my contact list can send messages to my cell phone when I'm not online. I can reply, but I can not initiate a convo unless they''ve sent me a message before...need that number to reply to first.

I did exactly like you did...went to MSN My Mobile to set up my cell number. When my friends are online, they could send my SMS, and I got their txt msg, but the problem is that their msg come with reply address of sequential numbers (501,502,503,etc...) So I thought they had to figure something on their sides because otherwise how would your phone know your friend's phone number when they're on MSN.
Man, this drives me crazy when they text me and I can't reply hehehe..

Posted by Vlammetje
you've got it wrong. It means that your friends who ARE online can send you MSN messages that get delivered to your phone as an SMS when you are offline

Posted by Greggy
Er isnt that what i just said? Lol where do u sign up for this is it available if youve got a p900

I went to MSN My Mobile to set up my cell number. When my friends are online, they can send me SMS from MSN Messenger and it says received from numbers such as 510, 511, 512, and so forth. When I hit reply and write back, it never gets back to my friends, even though they're still online with MSN login. Why?

im talking to a person from t-mobile right now so we'll see if we can't get this figured out for all of us (me included)

yes this is a problem with t-mobile....they said it has something to do with the agreement between them and msn and they only get to relay the message to you in the form of a text message but they cannot allow for you to be able to reply....hence the odd 500 numbers that they use for stuff.....so i guess this means that any1 with t-mobile service (like me) is outta luck....sorry guys
