Apparently Orange have withdrawn the P800 according to someone who just tried to order one.

I wonder why?

Posted by masseur
still seems to be orderable from their web site

Posted by bossjohnc
So it does!

Edit:

Apparently he ordered it online, heard nothing for 2 days, called customer services who said it had been discontinued.

They're not always right however...

Can anyone from O confirm anything? orangeman?

wouldn't it be slightly dumb to discontinue without a proper successor to replace it??

Are you sure it's not the T68?

My bro went to upgrade the other day and they told him that this model had been discontinued - he went for the T610 in the end, nice phone, better camera than my P800!

Posted by microneo
P800's camera is better... 0,3megapixels rather than the 0,1 megapixels of T610... pictures seem better on the T610 because T610 has more colors than the P800.. If you transfer the pics on a pc you will see the difference

Ah, right!

We're definately talking about the P800 here.

I do know that the web shop have different stock levels to Orange if you call them, so there may be different responses depending on where you call.

Yeah man, they are def discontinued...

We (CPW) have got about 200 left but arent receiving anymore...

Making way for the P900, due in Nov...

All info from our Purchasing team...

I work for Orange and haven't heard anything at all.

All discontinued models are listed on the Weekly Trading Focus in store...and the P800 aint there!
Only recently discontinued models are the Siemens S55 and SL55, and past ones include the T200, T300, T68i and the Nokia 5210 and 7210.

Still, I'll check the next one to see!

Siemens S55 and SL55 discontinued? Blimey they didn't last long.

The P800 is indeed out of stock according to Orange, they told me that there are currently none available. however, they said that if it has been discontinued they have not been informed as of yet.

Yeah, we have had those handsets confirmed as Discontinued also.

The P800 is being phased out, no more deliveries will be received.

Think they just havent given the final description of discontinued.

Just looking at some of the google ads on the right...

SonyEricsson P800 £139.99
Buy this latest mobile phone for only £139.99 on O2 contract!

OK people.

Get your credit card ready.
Prepare yourself for an iminent release.
RRPv - P900 £430.

P800, What is that?

Do not PM about this as I will ignore u.
Do not ring Orange & ask them cos they won't tell u shite.

OK?!?

Posted by Dazultra2000
£430?!
I assume that's a sim-free price...

in which case it's cheaper than the P800 is?! (depending on where you get it from of course)

Saying that though, if it's the price on a low orange contract then it's somewhat ridiculously high...

but I'm just speculating.

Posted by bossjohnc
That's almost certainly the RRP on a contract. Assume discounts will apply for higher tarrifs.

Xactly. plus dealer commision will mean they may lower price. There is talk of it being on payg aswell! Thats a scary thought

@orangeman: Out of the P900's you've seen, have any had Orange branding on them? I've seen 3 and none of them did..

It may be a sign to get in early to avoid stupid pictures of square dogs chasing lumps of cheese...

so whats the likeley sim free price?

Posted by Vlammetje
your guess is as good as mine

The P900 is not a G3 phone, so why would 3 have it? Are they not a G3 company?

i think he meant the number three, not the company 3 ...
