Just bought a P800 and now i find out the P900 is out next month. i am so annoyed.. The P800 will look so tacky in comparison to the P900. What is a general ballpark figure for selling a one week old P800? Also does anyone know an estimated figure on the cost of a sim free P900?

Posted by masseur
It would seem you did not do your research.

If its only a week old can you not take it back?

Posted by Arfi-Gorgona
It seems as though the price of the P800 is going to drop drastically - to upgrade from the cheapest contract it cost $100 for the P800 how about this?

Posted by pk237776
I bought it with a contract so how much would I get for it?

Posted by Arfi-Gorgona
Dont even ask.....

Posted by pk237776
Sorry to be a bit clearer I got the phone free with a £45/month contract so if i took it back what happens to my contract?

Posted by masseur
Like I said... try and take it back. some carriers give you some time to change your mind! check it out if you are really that unhappy.

Posted by anish
If it is a contract don't you have a 14 day money back gurantee sort of thing? In which country are you in?
You could do an upgrade of the contract when the p900 is out and you can keep the p800

Posted by Arfi-Gorgona
But even if the carriers take it back the p900 isnt ready so its realy pointless.

Posted by pk237776
Just checked and it costs £250 to upgrade with orange before the price of the new handset!!!

Posted by masseur
...and to just return it and cancel the contract?

Posted by Arfi-Gorgona
Even if now the phone cost 250 as you said in a month it loose the half of its price.Yuo cant sell this for 250 even if its new more than 150 i dont thing you find someone to buy it so i dont think its worth to sell it really.

Posted by haydnw
I guarantee you that with Orange you get a 14 day period in which you can choose to return the phone. I'm not sure if you can cancel the contract completely, but you should at least be able to swap the P800 for a cheap Nokia or something and put the money towards a P900.

I know that leaves you tied into the contract, but doesn't UK law give you a 14-day cooling off period for that as well? If not, you may just have to swap for a cheap handset and buy a P900 sim-free when it's released (expensive but the only option I can see if you have to keep your current handset).

Posted by SonySandy
You think the P800 looks tacky! :rolleyes

I think the P900 looks bland! At least the P800 is fairly funky and like nothing else on the market! If you want the cheap grey plastic look get the grey case for the P800!

Personally although the P800 is a little flimsy and tends to develop a few squeeks I like it, its a good size, TBH any smaller and folk would still just think it was a fat phone, at least this way it looks like a tiny PDA!

As I have said before the P800 is a man's phone, its for real men. The sort who go out into the woods and kill things, slap each othe ron the back, drink whisky, smoke cigars, fart in public and other manly things. A BIG phone is a must, I'm only sorry the P800 isn't bigger. It should make a statement.
If you want something small and flimsy get a Nokia. You shouldn't be ashamed of your phone, hiding it in the palm of your hand or slipping it into a secret pocket in the lining of your jacket. You should be advertising that you have a P800, flash it around, hit people with it, make people warm a spot on the floor of the toilet for it before you take a leak.
Nobody will mind any of this behaviour at all, because your a real man with a real man's phone.

I wear mine around my neck like a huge medallion so everyone can see
Whats the point of spending all that money just to keep it out of sight in your pocket

Posted by p800Ed
All Uk operators are required by law to offer a cooling off period of at least 14 days. During which you can return the phone and only pay for any service you have used.

I got my p800 and they told me i could port my number after i had taken out the contract but they were lying so i took it back after a couple of days arguing with t-mobile and O2.

The shop just said sorry and cnaceled the contract and opened another one.

This was a Phones4u shop.

Very well said, scotsboyuk.

P800 is a real man phone which every male macho should be proud of holding it around.

For those who can't bear the baby blue thing, get yourself a grey case or spray it another colour.

@pk237776

Don't come moaning on here and slagging the phone off just because you didn't do your research.

You want a P900? Well imagine the P800 in a different case, but with a shed load of bugs too. The P800 was full of bugs when it arrived and is now a stable phone.

So stop moaning and keep the P800 for a year, just in time for the P900 or its probable successor.

@scotsboyuk

Spot on that man - made me smile!

Posted by DonHusko

scotsboyuk you are the MAN =)

and P800 is big... If you want a smaller one get a t610.

Posted by prodjsxb
hmmm, maybe even get it painted or plated gold or platinum and wear it like a hip hop supasta' with that heavy ass chain to go with it...

Posted by lectrosoul
@pk2123 sorry couldnt remember your name and my connection is slow to go back!!

but i think that if you only got the phone then you should return it if unhappy as you cant argue you didnt know of the p900 (well maybe im wrong there!)

but im in the same situation although when i bought my second p800 in august the p900 was still an uinfounded rumour of which there are millions online in this area, my first p800 was stolen so i bought a new one, and both i paid top money for as i bought sim free, but i would have definately waited and perhaps bought a t610, if i had of known that the p900 was going to be released soon (next 3 months)

i do feel slightly ripped off, although i love the p800 and have had no major probs with it, im annoyed that at this stage i feel i've paid a lot of money for a phone (twice!!) that has been discontinued and a newer model is replacing it..

im not on a contract with this phone so upgrading is not an option for me, im a technology early adopter, and believe me i emailed and various people i know in the business and they had no information that said the P800 was being replaced by a newer model, and if so not for at least 6 months..
thankx

I bought mine on contract bout 4-5 months ago and I do not think I will be buying the P900 if its anything like the P800, void of alot of phone functions compared to T68i, then I will not be buying another SE phone in the near future.

I did not buy this phone to be a paying beta tester, I hope they do offer an upgrade of firmware to bring it to a similar standard to the P900.

Shame coz I have always bout Ericsson sonce T10...They really need to pull up their socks...

Posted by pachy
@Indianbwoy, What has the T68i got that you would like to see on the P800 ?, (if you dont mind as i'm interested to see if its just the lack of T9).

Posted by jomni1
Hey the p800 is still a force to rekon with. Especially with all the 3rd party apps available. Although the p900 can use the old p800 apps, there are compatibility issues like the larger screen size when flip-closed and the 65k color screen. This means that the P800 will still be better than the p900 for a while before all the apps come out. = )

leave the guy alone
he wants to know if he can do something about it
he aitn bashing the P900

and also the P800 when it first came out was stable
I am running R1B to this day
and I bought my P800 back in december

There will always be a new model out soon when it comes to
phones (and computer parts too) and often they are improved/better
(makes sence).
Just think what you need and if you can live with it a year or whatever
your economy allows before you buy something.
I'm not trying to flame or put anyone down it's just a fact.
atm noone knows for sure when P900 will come out but you
can be pretty sure it will cost alot more then a P800 a cpl of months
after it's release.
Don't worry be happy

If you don't like your phone.... and you wonder what would happen to your contract... maybe it's time for you to read the small print in your contract.... and you will find just how long you have to change your mind

Posted by pk237776
Can any of you read on here.... I have never said at any point that I was unhapppy with the size of the P800. Plus I saw no information about the P900 prior to purchase and am not the type of person to spend all of my spare time surfing the internet unlike you ScotsboyUK.

Posted by Vlammetje
so.......................

'unless I'm very much mistaken' ( ) some geuinie advice has been offered here..... if you are unhappy you can cancel your contract and return the phone within 14 days on orange UK.

If that is not the answer you were looking for.... then what exactly is the point of this thread???

Posted by prodjsxb
is that smoke i smell??? sumtins' burnin...

Posted by pk237776
My point is I asked for some honest friendly advice and then get a load of verbal saying what is wrong with the P800? Why do you think it is too big? Why did you not do any research?...etc.. I have never expressed any disatisfaction with the P800, just saying that I was annoyed that 2 days after ordering my phone they bring a new model out thats all. Sorry for causing any offence to anyone

Posted by blue8300
I perfectly understand you can be annoyed that they bing a new phone out just when you bought one... but it always will happen somehow.
If your resaler was just a little bit honest he would have told you... like in Belgium : Mobistar (a provider) don't sell the P800 anymore on his official listed phone, just because the new is coming out!

Posted by Vlammetje
and that is interesting in itself! coz the P900 has not been 'brought out' as you put it, nor has it been announced by

but back to the original question: what is it that you want?
coz you cannot sell me you opened a thread just to tell us you're annoyed....

Posted by xtokiyax
could perhaps sell it to me

Posted by BlackBauer24
@ pk237776 i know this has been said already but; PLEASE TAKE THE PHONE BACK TO WHERE YOU GOT IT FROM SO THAT YOU CAN GET YOUR CONTRACT TERMINATED AND YOUR MONEY BACK, btw sorry for shouting.

Posted by scotsboyuk
@ pk237776

Was that an insult? If it was then please try harder, I only make witty retorts to decent insults. Perhaps insult my mother, or make a joke about my manhood, that sort of thing.
Making insinuations about me spending too much time online by posting an insult to an Internet forum is a bit ... hypocritical? Ironic? Oxymoronic? Hmmm lots of nice words there ...

@pk237776

Boss, never get into a fight with a pig. The pig will love it and you'll just end up smelling of shit!

Leave the 'Jerkies' to do what they are good at!

P.S. Hope this hasn't offended anyone. If it has, check out my home page, call me and let's have a little chat!

I carry mine down the front of my pants. Then it makes me look like a real dude plus I get to be even closer to it.

Posted by scotsboyuk
Putting your P800 down your trousers is just silly, you won't be able to see it smiling back up at you

How dare those people bring out a new phone! Innovate? The cheek of it! I won't buy their products again because they keep bringing out better ones! The nerve! I've a good mind to write to my MP!

By the way, you haven't offended anyone...I don't speak for everyone here but you have given me a laugh...thanks!
