Yes, if you want you can switch the phone to "flight mode" so you will still get alarms, but the "phone" part of the p800 will be off.

Change the alerts to your chossen sounds by tapping "Control panel" then "messaging acounts" then "alerts" at the bottom, only sounds you have stored to your phone memory can be selected, not items on your Duo.
If you find a Wav site inline, you can find lots of current songs & sounds, basically you can have any imaginable sound as an alert.

IMPORTANT, go to "audio" tap "edit" at the top, then "preferences" from the drop down menu, & on that page make sure all the box's are ticked.

Pachy, you can use items stored in either the phone memory or the duo. Surely you know that man?

In fact , there is a software who even allows you to have a different sound for each of your contact when you get an SMS.
It even send a automatic answer if you want, different of each contacts too!!

@jackblue, OK, because your comment makes me look uninformed i'll explain further;
If you choose a sound for a ringtone (or any alert) that is only stored on your Duo, not in your phone memory, the alert will only work with that particular Duo in your phone (many people have more than one Duo) the phone will only use the default ringtone untill the Duo is put back.
SO if you want an easy life & want the alert to always work, store it on the phone memory.
Also i think my first software P800 back in January wouldn't even let me choose an alert that was only on the Duo.

"only sounds you have stored to your phone memory can be selected, not items on your Duo."
