I use a T610. I noticed this morning when I turned on my phone, the operator logo on my phone said "Globe" and not "PH GLOBE."
Did Globe change their operator logo or is there something wrong with the phone ?
Comments please.
Thanks.

Ayos lang - basta hindi sira ang phone, kahit pa ba "Palpak sa GPRS" ang operator logo nila !!!!
@ferrarista44 - I don't think it has to do with postpaid or prepaid. I have both postpaid and prepaid. Isang pang-asawa, isang pang-sports pa !!! He he he ....

isn't "globe" or "ph globe" a network name and not a logo
Posted by jamba
Operator Name, yes definitely. "...not a logo," I don't think so. Isn't the operator name appearing on the screen commonly referred to as an "Operator Logo" ? That's why in the older phones, when we upload a "logo" into the phone, the "operator name" that appears on the phone is replaced by the logo that we uploaded.
Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

I haven't read any satisfactory answer on this topic. I was wondering the same thing. My wife asked why her phone was doing that. Kamot ulo lang ako.
Anyway, mods ... lock down daw sabi ni boss kapj

guys,
i don't see a need to lock it for now. just stay on topic.

The simple answer to the question is simply that Globe decided to take out the PH... it's their prerogative.
Posted by kapitan jackal
hohonga ano, pag binasa mo yung operator logo na pikit sang mata, pwede matangal yung ph (pag left eye yung nakapikit) at pwedeng globe yung matangal (pag right eye yung nakapikit)
di ko pa nasususbukan kung ano makikita ko pag both eyes nakapikit

INTERESTING STUFF : I am the author of the original post. I just upgraded my firmware to R3C004 and guess what - it's now back to PH GLOBE.
Hmmm .....
Any comments ?

just my two cents worth on this...
for those who are caught unprepared if they suddenly see a different operator logo (referring to the operator name displayed on screen), just dont be alarmed cos whatever operator name (or logo) you see on screen, as long as it is near the name of your operator, means there is NOTHING wrong with your phone.
the operator can do something with their signal (or anything like that) that controls that part of your phone that shows their name
so kung GLOBE or PH GLOBE or PH 02
or SMART or PH SMART or PH 03
or SUN or PH 05 or DIGITEL
kahit ano pa yan, they just mean and refer to one thing only, the name of your operator, so no need for everyone to be alarmed...

I just upgraded my T610 to the same firmware 2 days ago but the Operator Name still Globe not PH GLOBE
Posted by jamba
Yup. It's back to Globe again.
Thanks to all who replied. Please be aware that it is not the idea that we get "alarmed" when there are changes. It is the idea that we want to see whether the changes occur only in one phone as opposed to all phones - kuha ba ninyo ?????
We will really be surprised if we get Smart instead of Globe with a Globe SIM. I think we are all smart enough to know that. But wouldn't you be surprised if you find that only you had "Globe" and all others with the same phone had PH GLOBE ? I hope you guys get the point by now.
Posted by jomni1
huh? PH GLOBE naman sa phone ko.
Posted by adv99576
@jamba, got ur point... =)
although as i've mentioned before, the network operator (Globe Telecom for this instance) has a mechanism that can change the way how their name displays on a particular handset. i don't know the exact details but i believe in the existence of that kind of mechanism. and it also doesn't necessarily affect EVERYONE's phone at a given point in time... it could be piece by piece, and that explains isolated cases like you experienced.
another thing, even the manufacturers (Sony Ericsson in this case) also has their own database of operator names that they install in the handsets, and of course, in due time, this database gets updated hence some handsets display a different name that older or newer handsets...
my bottomline is, i hope you learned that seeing your operator name (or logo) change suddenly doesn't have to make you wonder, now that you know that it is possible that it can change at any moment... =)

some says you are using old sim... im not sure though, my t39 is showing ph smart
Posted by adv99576
@jett
@ 619
619 is correct jett. some who are using the old Smart SIM shows two operator names in particular handsets. don't ask me why, ask Smart.

.... even the manufacturers (Sony Ericsson in this case) also has their own database of operator names that they install in the handsets ....
I may be wrong but I doubt this very much because if SE were to put a database of various operator "saved" somewhere in the phone, then they would need a considerably large memory to store this. If we were to assume for one moment that they do this on a region-per-region basis, how would SE know which region their phone will end up with ? If we were to look at it based on firmware edition, I doubt this as well I originally had an R1A EU version then upgraded to R3C Asia Latin edition.

firmware is just the software needed to run your mobile phone.
firmware can have different versions customized to any particular region.
the database that i'm referring to is just a list of ALL GSM countries and the respective GSM network codes and network names, and yes, it is a "text file" usually, so if you're wondering about the memory it takes to store it is not really that big as you think, but not too small either. it is there in your phone jamba, and it is something that cannot be easily edited, and not something that the firmware directly affects.
