Has anyone "played" with the GPRS Advance settings?
I mean what about the "Data compr" or "Header compr" or all those settings in "Quality of service" ??? My standard settings are:
--------------------------------
*Authentication: Normal
*Data Compr: Off
*Header Compr: Off
*Quality of Serv:
-Precedence: Subscribed
-Delay: Subscribed
-Realiabity: Class 3
-Peak rate: Subscribed
-Mean rate: Subscribed
--------------------------------
Is there anything you can change to speed up your GPRS down/uplink?

does your mobile operator support data/header compression? different reliability class? if not, there's no point in changing those.

I like to leave it to those with too much time on their hands to experiment with this sort of thing! I wouldn't have the first clue what most of those settings do. Incidentally, my settings are identical to those, and I thought that they might be network-dependent.

i tried those settings, however nothing changed.
as mentioned it should be supported by operator

i get 4-5k downloads with the std settings... so i dont think there are much to gain ... not for me at least...

Are you kidding me?

Gprs speed is mostly network dependant. Also the gprs class of your handset

@MaThIbUs yes i think skaff is extracting the urine.

But what is the gprs speed supported by my operator o2-uk. I know my handset supports such and such. But can i tweak it?

I gather nobody knows anything about gprs then. :-(

There was a post some time ago that was a wap site that told you the speed of your connection. I think o2 UK Pay Monthly was around 44Kbps on average and there Pay As You Go GPRS around 4kbps. Do a search for it.

Posted by exodus
Okay, how do you do a search via wap?

@JuanK
try getting a phone like p800 that has 4+1 GPRS, much faster than the t3XX series

@daftpunk

Sorry for my ignorance - but what's the 4+1 gprs you speak off?

Steven. :?:

4 slots downlink (9600 x 4 = 38400 kbps)
1 slot uplink (9600 kbps)

@Krubach - cheers.

Presumably this is a default mode/specification (and is not changeable?)

Have u guy try using t300 as gprs modem with your pc via kabel? You will only get 9,6kbps connection! Set your port speed to 115kbps! That will give you better speed! [:]
