not even triband
talk about crap

Posted by Flying Finn
what do you mean "even"? Is there something else missing? Beauty is in the viewer's eye and many users won't be bothered by the lack of a third band

Posted by caff
Its way too wide and need 2 hands to hold and use it .............forget it !

Posted by GoH
im never gonna figure out how someone is gonna put this to his ear for a call. its doggone squarish. and it looks like a mutated almond.

Posted by Superluminova
this looks like a concept phone to me, just the design having fun, if nokia sell this model, i'll be very surprised, but then again nokia do sell so strange looking phones?

Posted by Flying Finn
Should have an MMC slot btw. I can't wait to see the other colour options.

Posted by nephilim
Maybe it comes with a strap. Then mount it on one's forehead ...

Posted by lazarini

Can it make Videocalls? I thought 3G was mostly about the possbility to see the one you talked too? Well not only that of course, but that wasnt possible in the 2G and 2,5G net. And what I can tell just about looking at it, that shouldnt be possible at all, beause its lacks the second camera. In sweden our only 3G operator wouldnt even consider this as a 3G phone. For me it more or less seems like a GSM phone with the ability to use the 3G net ( Mostly a triple band). Not like the Nec, Motorola and SONY ERICSSON Z1010 that actually is 3Gphone with the possibility to use GSM. Especially Z1010 that even can use 2,5G and not only 2G. In a way Z1010 is a 4thbands phone. ( Handle 800/1800/1900/3G). NOkia is a triple band (800/1800/3G). I think NOKia should go back to school or the writing table and do their homework all over again. This is a bad phone. Okey in the GSM net, but as a VCDMAphone ( Was that correct?) then it aint nothing to buy at all. Its like a 6600.

Right... No triband GSM. That's a bad point.
The SE Z1010 doesn't have it either.

Z1010 doesnt have GSM 1900 sorry...

"Being" a 3G phone does NOT mean having videocall functionality. I personally doubt very much that operators will be able to provide satisfactory videocall functionality especially at the early start of their 3G networks. Look at it from a GSM user perspective. GSM coverage is very good and you can have a good voice call almost anywhere (except in US, where it is really bad. E.g. blocking is so bad there). Well, anyone's expectations as to using GSM are high. Now, how can you explain to your mother that she can't get videocall when she leaves downtown areas? In practice this is what will happen. You may get sufficient bitrates where 3G coverage is very good and network load is reasonable (Vodafone claimed about 60kbps average in London area...), but elsewhere forget it. Also the 3G<>GSM handover will practically prevent videocall from operating correctly. As soon as you hand off to GSM, you loose your video... Users would be extremely happy.

In a few years time, yes videocalls might become casual (although they failed on wireline phones. People never simply bought the idea) if 3G takes off well and networks get fully operating. But betting on videocalls as THE 3G functionality to market at the birth of 3G networks is in my mind a very risky business, because if operators can't (and they can't) offer as good service quality as what people are used to with GSM, people will simply not go for it or said otherwise who would pay for it?

Well, that's my opinion

I have to agree with SuperG...

Damn.. no MMC slot then. Only 29MB of internal memory.

Here's how you talk to it

I guess you right. But in my opinion videocall is important. In sweden it will work quite soon. Still there aint that many places....but I know that 3G net is existing in the most cities at the moment, but only for testing at the moment. Isnt it better that the technic exist and florish, despite that fact it might not work everywhere? I think so, so if Nokia doesnt wanna be the best in that matter, then they will loose the train.I mean in a way its not differ on the other hand 6600 or the 7600. In a way its the same phone? But one of them can be used in a 3G net. If I shall have a 3Gphone it better have all features that is possible.

And sorry, if was wrong about the 1900 on the Z1010. I actually missed that in the specifications.
