Mobile phone rental in Japan

I will be attending a conference and some meetings in Japan next month. Do any of you have any experience renting mobile phone (with data preferably) equipment in Japan? Any help would be appreciated!

renting is expensive and its going to be difficult to find a place to rent from. stop in a convenience store, grab a prepaid mobile for about 5000yen and a card with call credits for 3000yen and there you go. cheapest is tuka but be careful that you are getting a phone with english because alot of the prepaid phones are japanese only.
