Let us know how it performs!

Sure thing but its a bugger working in Frankfurt and only coming to UK at weekends so I have to wait until next friday to test it out!

Ouch! You'll have five long days to exercise your patience. Maybe this is what the Americans call separation anxiety! LOL Anyway, congratulations on your purchase! Might be an useful accessory for me as well when I get back to work.

good for you ..

Expansys also have this is stock now though for £47 inc VAT compared to what I paid at SE shop for £29.99.

All very well but you've got to buy a new, separate data cable as well as the desk stand.

The one that is fixed to the DSS-20 is not removable.

A bit of a con, or what?

Posted by masseur
yeah.. I noticed that too but fortunately I wojn't be using it for sync (I already use BT or IR). I will be using it simply as a desk hands free.

So have you received it yet ?? and what do you think - is it any good ?

Thanks,

Mark

Posted by masseur
yes it has been received at home but as I said earlier, until I get back from Frankfurt to UK tomorrow I can't test it!

You can be sure I will give my opinion here over the weekend

got mine this morning from mobilefun... not bad.... has mute button also, and has a connector to also connect you normal handsfree kit, and then switch between, them... just in case you need the privacy.

can you post here some photos or send me to: simsnow@walla.co.il

I'm home now and trying the CSS-20 and to be honest, photos won't look any different to the pic I posted in my first post in this thread

We are all dying to hear your opinions about it.
Is it worth buying?
How are you and the far end experiencing the sound?

Ok well the CSS-20 comes in the usual accessory packaging which requires great perseverance, personal strength, a very sharp knife and some bandages to get into it.

Once extracted I was quite surprised by the small size of the CSS-20 even though I have seen the pictures on the :SE: shop site and on the global support page.

You need to plug in the charger that came with your phone in order for this to work. There is the normal full width connector so you can plug in a headset or data cable.

When you connect the phone it switches to the 'in car' profile which is more than my in car pama plug'n'go kit does as this only switches to headset profile!

The unit has three switches, 2 on the front and one on the right hand side. The big push button on the front is for answering or disconnecting a call and the smaller push button behind that is for muting the call. The sliding button on the side switches between speaker and headset.

I tested with 3 calls and in all cases I could hear loud and clear. The other parties all said I was loud and clear too and one of them even said they had to hold their phone away from their ear because I was coming across so loud!

Speaking of volume, the CSS-20 does not have a volume switch but you can adjust the speaker volume from the handset in the normal manner.

All in all I am very happy with this accessory. Its one that should have been available years ago but it was well worth the wait.

the phone looks like its gonna topple any moment... will prolong "tiltation" of the phone in that manner spoil the connectors?

Posted by masseur
no, it seems to be a very solid connection and in fact the bottom of the phone rests in a groove which makes it hard to come out even if I give it a reasonable push at the top of the phone.

Wonderful, finally a speaker unit for the office. But when will SE introduce a speaker unit that is mobile? A small speaker/mic that's easy to carry around with? I have seen similar in Motorola's line.

@masseur

I read your review... by the way is great ... i just need one more opinion , but be really honest if ... a call comes in can you really heard the other guy well or do you have to really get close to the mic , im telling you this because i use to have a gadget like that for my motorola and there was really no point of having a speakerphone because if i walked away from the desk... well you get the idea , so i just threw the thing away , but i really like my
t68i so like i said please be honest and let me know ... thanks
I almos forgot , can you set the profile to autoanswer or do you have to push a button every time a call comes in Thanks !!

Posted by masseur
As mentioned, the volume is dependant on your phone volume setting so if you have that up loud, as I do, you will hear the speaker phone across the room and they will hear you because the microphone is seems to be very sensitive.

The phone switches to car profile when connected so behaves just like in car so yes, the auto answer will work.

Thanks for the info i have seen them in the internet for about $60.00 u.s. Dlls. its that a good price and again thanks for the info...

Posted by masseur
As mentioned in my first post in this thread, I paid 29.99 pounds and US$60 converts to about 36 pounds so that sounds expensive. Might be worth looking around a bit.

nice review. oh, and you must work for Coke

Posted by markymark
I have one, but the phone (p800) keeps switching between "headset" and "car" when it's on the deskstand. So can't really use it. I have tried it as well with my friends t610, same problem.
Is it broken, or is there a setting in the phone that I'm missing
thanks

Posted by masseur
Mine does not do that so it sounds like a dodgy connection on the stand if it does the same for 2 phones you have tried

Posted by neo001
@masseur
After reading your review and saving a couple of weeks i finally did it i order mine today , i ended up paying like $700.00 pesos plus sh&h so that was $800.00 pesos thats about $80.00 dlls. well thats the price i had to pay to have it here in Tijuana Mexico

Posted by masseur
Sounds a little expensive doesn't it? so I hope you make the best use out of it!

Posted by markymark
@masseur
thanks for your input. The guys at the store also thought it was broken and ordered a new one for me. Let“s hope it doesn“t take to long. I really like and need this handy device.

i got mine 10 days ago

Posted by masseur
Well I have had mine for more than 3 weeks now and I still think its the best accessory I have bought for a very long time!

Posted by xenious
So, expansys says its discontinued and se uk eshop doesn't have it in stock and of course SE US has no clue what it is. Any place someone in the US can get this via mail order?

@xenious
Try this one ...

Posted by masseur
xenious... and when Expansys says a product is discontinued it only means they have discontinued stocking it, not that the manufacturer has discontinued it.

Posted by jamesa
maybe someone with a css-20 can help me.

i'm looking to get one, but would need to keep the phone connected to a bluetooth device without switching the css-20 to "computer" mode. Can this be done?

any help much appreciated

Posted by badtz
along with jamesa's question , i was wondering, ...

is there anyway to switch between speaker and headset [when one is attached] ? how would you do this [since the speaker uses the headset profile] ???

thanks
