hi
tired of that pixelated pics that SE mypictures produce...

isn't there any pallete for photoshop 4.0 (that works!!)....or some sofware in order for me to fix this?

thanks

the t68i only has 256 colours so i think it will always be like that.

Upgrade to a wonderful looking t610!

your propaganda is very touching...
but that phone has a poor reception, and lack of 640x480 pics, which matters a lot for me...

So, in any case, you've got a wrong device for your pictures. Use your phone for communication and you'll be ok

get the optimized pallete from the site of theme creator pro 3G. it's there in their download page.

thanks! great tip!

sad...i download it, but after loading it in photoshop, the same problem...the image gets full of white pixels all over it!

getting desperate i am...

Remove or lower the dithering of the image in Photoshop.

BTW the T610 has better reception than the T68i

Upload a image so we can see and maybe fix your problem

i'm new on that kind of stuff...
how do i do that?

@ommadawn
You can't get rid of the pixels. You are probably working with a photo picture with a lot of "natural" color variations. Basically what happens is this: The image contains true color. The phone can only display a defined set of 256 colors. When you load the palette, and convert the image to indexed (in photoshop), photoshop will try to select the closest matching color from the 256 color palette. When dithering is used, photoshop will set several nearby pixels to specific colors to create an overall effect of the actual color used in the original image. Since when you do that, several pixels are used to display a color of one pixel, you get a grainy (pixelated) effect (just like mosaic - if you stand close it's looks like a random mix of dots, if you step away - you begin to see the image).

From my experience, you might be better off saving the file as GIF. While the colors might get a little synthetic look, the presense of these "white dots" you refer to, will be minimized. For some reason these "white dots" show up much more in photo images saved as JPEG then GIF when viewed on T68.

Actually he has that problem but that's he use photoshop 4 ( will I think ).

yeah! can the bad image above be generated because of the use of a palette for phtoshop 6/7 ?

Posted by wrath000
Are you sure this is 256 colors? It looks like 16 to me...
When you are going to convert the image, you should first size it to fit on the screen (T68), then change the image mode to "indexed". When you choose indexed, a palette dialog-box pops up. Then, just make sure it's gonna index to 256 colors, load the pallete, use the apropriate dithering and press OK. When you've done that, you will be able to save to GIF at once. If you want to save to JPEG, you might have to switch the image mode back to RGB first.

hi
i do exacly as u told
i select dither as: "none" (it only lets me: none or difusion)

but there's always the same result...

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Can you not just resize it them rate it as a gif, like wrath says? Thats what I've been doing for ages and it comes out fine most of the time. I don't even bother with the pallete.

Posted by ommadawn
i started doing that naturally when using SE mypictures soft., thats when i came out with the problem

Posted by wrath000
Does the original look like that?

Posted by ommadawn
of course not...

Posted by wrath000
Try this:
1. Resize the image to correct size (to fit on T68 screen)
2. Choose "Indexed" image mode
3. In the dialog box, load the palette (make sure it's a 256 color palette, not 16 color) You will find it here
4. Leave all the other settings as they are.
5. Press OK, the image should now be converted to 256 color indexed.
If you want the image as gif, simply save it as GIF (non-interlaced)
If you want the image as JPEG:
1. Switch the image back to RGB mode
2. Don't do any more changes
3. Save as JPG (not optimized, baseline)

If this doesn't work, let me know what program/version you are using.

it's allways the same, lighter zones full of pixelated areas everywhere!

i'm using photoshop 4.0, winXP pro

Send me the origianal, I'll take a look at it.
I use photoshop 7, don't remember the features in photoshop 4
Does the image become like this (distorted) before or after you save?
Tell me which step the image becomes distorted...

it becomes distorted just right after i hit OK in the palette loading window...
u can use the pic that is on the 1st page....they all have tjhe same problem.

Posted by wrath000
The pic on the first page is already distorted, nothing can be done to fix it.

Since the distortion happens as soon as you load the palette, it seems to me that you are trying to use a 16 color palette. You need to use a 256 color palette. Have you tried using the palette I referred to in my post above? I have personally used that palette without problems.

Posted by ommadawn
yes....downloaded that file and did exacly as u said...

Posted by wrath000
I don't really remember the features in photoshop 4, perhaps you need to specify the color depth for indexed mode somewhere?
Have you tried doing this with other images? Do you get the same result?
I am quite certain that in your case, for some reason, photoshop converts the image to 16 colors instead of 256.

...maybe you can get a hold of a newer photoshop version?
