Globe and Smart MMS problem. Any advise ? (ph)

I am a postpaid GLOBE PH subsciber. We are all aware that GLOBE PH blocked all wap sites other than their own (love your own mentality, probably). Because of this, I bought a SMART PH prepaid card just for the purpose of browsing wap sites on my T610.

I started with my T610 configured for GLOBE GPRS, GLOBE MMS, and GLOBE INTERNET settings via the "GO T610" then send to "2951" method. Here's what we're working with .....

After inserting my SMART PH sim card, and going through the motion of setting-up Smart's GPRS and MMS (via "SET GPRS ET610" and "SET MMS ET610" then send to "211"), I was happy enough to be able to browse other wap sites as well as send an MMS to another Smart subscriber after selecting the appropriate SMART GPRS/WAP/MMS profiles on my phone.

Here's the tricky part. When I returned my GLOBE sim into the phone, again, this time selecting the appropriate GLOBE GPRS/WAP/MMS profiles, I am able to gain access to Globe's WAP site. However, despite reverting the MMS message server back to Globe specifications (i.e., http://192.40.100.22:10021/mmsc), I can't send MMS anymore via GLOBE. My phone always tells me that there is some sort of a communication error. Tries to send, but after a while, gives me the error.

Because of this, I decided to perform a MASTER RESET and restore all settings by going through the same motion with GLOBE. Now MMS works again. Then, instead of setting up SMART GPRS and MMS, I set-up only SMART GPRS and NOT the MMS anymore fearing that the same will happen. Now I can use GLOBE GPRS, INTERNET and MMS as well as SMART GPRS depending on the sim card inserted in my phone.

It will be nice, however, if I can also use SMART MMS but I fear that the same will happen. It is ok for me to manually set the MMS Server details as this is the only thing I see that needs manual re-configuration if I change back and forth from GLOBE to SMART and vice versa.

To save those who will reply the trouble, again, note that when I set-up SMART, the MMS message server configured was http://10.102.61.238:8002. When I returned the set-up to GLOBE, I had to manually re-configure the MMS message server to http://192.40.100.22:10021/mmsc because even if I request via SMS an electronic configuration (i.e., via GO T610 ... 2951), the MMS server is not changed automatically.

Any ideas ????

Thanks in advance for any replies.

No need for master reset. Communication error only happens to my phone when I am sending MMS to different Networks. MMS here in the Philippines can only send to the same networks. I already asked Globe and Smart about it...(dont care about sun though) And Globe said these concerns will be properly answered by NTC.

why don't u try to use the autosave by globe parang u should type in GO p800 then the settings will be received and then save it. Ako had no problem with MMS sana nga lang pede makareceive ung ibang phone ng 2 or more attachments kasi pag 1 attachment pede mareceive pero pag 2 or more attachments as in pede per send kahit malaki ung file dapat sana narereceive. any suggestions???

Thanks for the replies but PLEASE READ MY QUERIES AGAIN !!! I am aware that Globe to Globe is OK and SMART to SMART is ok. I am also aware that inter-network MMS is not possible.

Here is the SIMPLIFIED version of my query:

Starting with GLOBE, I request for OTA settings for GPRS, MMS and Internet. All works OK, GPRS, MMS and Internet email within GLOBE network. Then I insert my SMART sim and request for OTA settings for GPRS and MMS. All works OK again including sending MMS within SMART network. That's clear enough, right ?

Then I insert my GLOBE sim again. I select the appropriate WAP profiles (myGlobe GPRS for WAP and myGlobe MMS for MMS). I then manually change the MMS server setting to Globe's MMS server. Clear again, right ?

Question: Why can't I send MMS in Globe (within the Globe network) anymore despite choosing the right WAP profiles and changing the MMS server back to Globe MMS server ?

Any ideas ???

@jam

here what you can do, after manually setting(shifting) the settings of the networks (globe or smart), setting it manually and checking if it matches, everything should match (sa wap profiles at connectivity),
TURN IT OFF, after a few seconds, it should work (i think), if not post it again para mahanapan pa ng solusyon, but i think it should work kasi after turning it on again the home network will register the fone your using as well as configure the mms and gprs setting, or something to that effect

there are times nageerror sa wap browsing kahit maayos ung setting mo,

hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I do turn on and off the phone in order to sort of "reboot" the Operating System to take on the changes. But still the same.

By the way, has anyone encountered the error "Your client has no priviledges to view this site" in Smart iNET GPRS system ? I asked GoWin before and he said that he doubts if Smart is also beginning to block sites - just like Globe.

What do you guys think?

Or am I doing something wrong here ?

I found the solution already. It is not enough just to turn your phone OFF and ON again just for a few seconds. The trick is to turn your phone OFF for at least 15 minutes before turning it back ON.

According to an "expert" I talked to both in Globe and in Smart, the reason why you should turn it OFF for at least 15 minutes is to REFRESH the system. Apparently, it looks like there is some sort of a "resident" memory on the phone that locks onto the Operator's system. So even if you change the settings, if you did not turn OFF the phone long enough, the "resident" memory is still trying to connect to the old system that was previously in place.

Turning the phone off long enough will erase whatever this is inside the "resident" memory. When your phone tries to connect again after a long period of no connection (because it was off), it will then re-establish a new connection which is what they mean by "refreshing" the system.
