I happen to go to the same classes as a son of one of Ericssons ex-directors. He is the one of the people who brokered the deal with Sony about SonyEricsson. Now after the deal is done, he got transfered to another company (no name mentioned) which developes phones for Ericsson and now SonyEricsson. They were partially responsible for the T68 and wholly responsible for the T66.
Now my friend has told me that there will be no upgrade offered for the T68 and said that everything said by SE's Per Alksten regarding the upgrade is pure bullshit.
Now I myself think that this is highly unlikely that SE would be idiotic enough not to offer the upgrade, I just felt like I should share with you some inside information, which of course itself could total bull.

the new software for T68m will be released....
I got information a couple of weeks ago about the upgrade, for example what new features it will have, and some info on how the upgrade will be done.... and that it will probably be released sometime in May....

Some T68 have a beta version of the software installed. Why should
use resources on software development that not is going to be released to the public?

The mms-software will be available in may.
The only phones with this software right now, is the T68i (I have this model),..and the phones that are used by Ericsson developers.

I think it's a pity from SE not to provide any sensible feedback about when this upgrade would be available.
1st they said T68 will have MMS.
But then they said no it won't have. Else they would have missed the Christmas market. Though they mentionned it will be available by sw upgrade later in 2002, and the information as to when and where would be reflected on their website. Yet, there strictly is nothing. Which is really suprising.
Maybe they don't want people to buy a cheaper T68 and get a free upgrade, rather than buying a more expensive T68i. I.e. they wait for the T68 to be all sold out before they can actually distribute the sw upgrade.
Maybe there is some hardware difference between T68 and T68i which gives some headache to SE to put MMS on T68.
Maybe it's both.
or maybe they don't care.
Anyway, customer service is definitely bad.

Those games are bullshit! It is LESS games now!!! And all best games are deleted!!!
at original T68m i had 5 cool games + 1 (6th) game that was contained from 4 "solitare" games I never played + 3 secret games = 12 games.
Now I have only 4 old games (5th (GAME) are removed) + 4 THE SAME "solitare" games (were as the ONE(!) (6th) game in old SW) + only one secret game = 9 games!
no more Tetris, no more Snack (secret), no more GAME, no more 15 (secret) now! And only one new game!
PS: If somebody found more secret games in new SW / T68i please tell me!

Looks we are getting the upgrade accoring to SE's site, so find that lying son of the ex director or whatever and beat the shit out of him for or avoid the assault charges and simply correct him by pointing him to Esato.

... and one more thing - T68 was done in Europe by Ericsson (I know a guy in UK who worked on it), T66 in Arima on Taiwan (my best guess).
I wouldn't take your friend too seriously ...
